70k of Metal should hire you as the marketing director, seriously. You made a 4 part series that was movie length, all with commentary and even made viable suggestions to improve the cruise at the end.
I genuinely enjoyed all 4 episodes of this. Almost felt like I was there! I have to admit that I don’t listen to many of these bands, but it almost doesn’t matter after watching how much fun you had.
Dude. You have real talent. Video is good, editing is very good, but your creative, accurate, sincere and most important intelligent narrative is outstanding. You should be a TV/movie producer.
I want to thank you for the kind words about one of my favorite bands, Crypta. I have been a fan of Fernanda and Luana since their Nervosa days. Their dual lead guitarists, Taina and Jessica, are fantastic., and I hope this is the lineup for years to come. I saw them live a few weeks ago. I arrived early enough to buy a t-shirt and be right at the stage. They put on a helluva show, especially Fernanda who is a force of nature. I enjoy the fact that she is totally in character during the songs, but between songs she is downright charming. There were several girls in the crowd that I would guess were in their early and mid teens. At the end of the show, Fernanda started talking to one of them and it wasn't just a short conversation. Fernanda was giving her the attention that will no doubt inspire her to be in her own metal band some day (likely as a vocalist since that is what they seemed to be talking about). As they were talking, the curtain started to close. I held it up long enough to let them finish their conversation. A great ending to a great show.
Like I told you before, I haven't had the spark or anything to go back to the metal scene or go to 70k in a long time. These videos have reignited that spark.
Your reporting on these festivals, etc, is bar none top freakin' notch! Dude, that vid clip around the 7:47 mark is INSANE! What a ridiculously fun show! The people loved it so incredibly much and that makes me smile huge and I wasn't even there! Don't stop your vids even for a millisecond. You are invaluable to those of us who cannot get to these gigs as well as your spreading of the metal gospel on all sorts of different bands and I bet they're grateful to you for it. You, my good metal man, rock the entire planet!
It was my second year onboard as a staff photographer and I absolutely love it. I’ve never really travelled in my entire life and to be somewhere so far from home yet have it still feel like home. Is amazing. Hopefully I’ll run into you on the ship another year, I really enjoyed your humorous journey through these 4 days of madness.
Man, your series was fabulous. You're entertaining and real with it all. I also appreciate that you were at so many sets that I didn't get to see! Thank you for these! 🤘🖤🤘
That Crypta show on the pool deck was amazing! I also ran into Fernanda a bunch of times. They kick ass! I'm definitely a 70K lifer. I think I've been on 5-6 cruises in a row now.
I first heard about the cruise around 10 years ago or so. Couldn't believe such a festival existed. I really appreciate the thorough tour you gave us, it was really super interesting. I'm not entirely sure if it is for me exactly, but there are a lot that appealed to me as well, like not too big of a crowd anywhere, tropical weather and the dining hall. All in all pretty incredible festival and in a way a complete polar opposite to, say Wacken, but actually to most festivals around the world :D
Thanks, ive watched all your videos and its all i need to know about 70K-2024. Points you mentioned at the end are exactly why its probably dying. You really nailed why its kindda dumb to go there, each year. I really enjoyed your videos, 🤘
Great review! I have no urge to go on a cruise, but I remember contemplating going for a few years from 2014-2018, those lineups looked really awesome.
Every new video you put out just solidifies for me that you are the second coming of Sam Dunn. The passion and knowledge you bring makes each video great
I just want to say this was one of the most enjoyable video series that I've ever watched. I definitely want to go on this cruise! Thanks for sharing! Cheers and keep banging 🤘
Fantastic set of videos! I thoroughly enjoyed watching them. Sooo much better than the official recap videos. I love everything about your videos but esp the sense of humor. I was just in front of you at the Crypta show, the grey haired guy… 😅. As to your points of criticism. I used to agree with some of those points, but after having gone on this cruise 5 times, I would change almost nothing, including the number of bands and the crazy hours. I would like to see bands announced much earlier without a crazy long drought, but fat chance that this will ever happen.. 😅 I love the lounge. Admittedly you have to be in one of the front rows to get the best experience. But at that spot, it feels like the band is giving you a private concert, and the sound is good too in that location. Good earplugs are mandatory of course. I have custom molded earplugs, best investment ever. Anyway, thanks again for these fantastic videos, and hope to see you on a future edition of 70K.
Your writing, or the descriptions. are epically funny, and so right on the nose. You should write novels, or sitcoms or something. Thanks for introducing us to these bands. Looked up a few and they're not bad. New subscriber here!
Not much into symphonic, melodic, or power metal and it seems like the lineups skew in that direction. If there was more death metal, black metal, doom, etc I'd be interested. Either way, great recap video. It seems like the mood there is positive and people have a blast. Cheers.
Drowning my sorrows and living vicariously through this video ~ I should be getting ready and excited to go see Machine Head and Fear Factory tonight, but my arse is broke and the show has sold out. Its the first time ive missed them in over 10 years of touring and I am utterly disgusted with myself for missing out. So, your metal cruise will have to suffice, cheers mate 🤘
Fun fact: I'm from The Netherlands and i follow Sonia Anubis for some years now. Was stoked to hear her have a short but heavy stint in Crypta and was a bit bummed out when she left the band. But she is a bit of a household name in our local scene and i did get to meet her several times when she played in local clubs and festivals. But these girls definitely rock!
Dude I thoroughly enjoyed your recaps. It was our first time on the ship and man was it awesome. We were in the windrose line. Ha ha. Great videos. Subbed! Will be checking out your music!
If you’re going again in 2025, I’ll see you there! I agree 100% with your frustration over the lack of band announcements; the next cruise is fast-approaching and they’ve only announced 27/60 acts.
A pretty solid assessment of the experience. Personally, despite having had a ticket for several months prior, I almost said screw it and didn't bother attending due to the lack of information about the lineup and the last minute cancellations (Draconian was why I agreed to go this year at all, ugh!). That said, 70k was a blast, but you called it in noting that the weeks leading up to it should be filled with excitement and not frustration.
Thank you man. Really enjoyed watching this series. This cruise doesn't look as appealing now that I'm a little older, but man it still looks like it could be a blast. Nowadays when we book a gig and it starts at 10 I'm like hey, people listen to music at 7 too don't they? 😂
while most of these particular bands arent My type of metal watching ur vidz make me sorrier than ever I wasnt able to go on the Exodus- Blood In The Water cruise! good informative videos. looked like a frakkin blast!
thanks for showing us how us old people still have a chance to enjoy festivals. this whole boat thing sounds amazing, so much better than sitting in a tent for days. i really hope something like this comes to Australia.
To be honest, there were only about 5 bands on the lineup I recognised and even if I had the money wouldn't go just to see them and a bunch of bands I've never heard of. I know we can't expect a massive s-tier line-up but some more bigger bands would be what might convince me to go
You'll be surprised how many bands I've never heard or seen on my life, I discovered in the cruise, been on it for 4 years and it's a great feeling plus meeting new people, trust me you should go one day not expecting anything but a fantastic time and you'll be happy by the end
People having fun on a boat with easy access to alcohol is a no-brainer and does not excuse 70 000's management issues. You give fair and constructive criticism, which is hard to come by these days. These videos have been a ton (or maybe 70 000 tons) of fun! 🤘
i would not have found your channel if not for you covering this awesome floating metal festival. one day i will join the cruise. but not as a fan ;) thanks for the great footage and commentary, episode 1 was unreal to see what its all about, but by this last episode it was hilarious!
okay im sold, see you there next year! jk im gonna wait to see how the next years announcements get handled and the lineup to be known, but I def wanna go
Thanks for the recap. I'd love to check out 70K one day. Regarding the band merch issue, I wonder if the organizers can work something out with the cruise line where you can order band merch like you order room service (no joke). Have a section on the website or on the TV where you can place an order for band merch. Room service has a few hours to get you your order and deliver to your room (even if you're not there) AND the cruise line can charge a delivery fee (so they make some money off of it). Most cruise lines require you to have your credit card info on file so they can just charge to your room. Cruise ships have spaces that aren't open to the public, I wonder if they could store the band merch in those areas and deal with fulfilling the orders there.
Andy is highly unlikely to change the merch process much, unfortunately. He offloads the payment processing to RC (they get a cut, obviously) as part of his deal with them. That's also why we don't have drink packages compared to a normie cruise. Maybe losing his right-hand man during the lull in 2024 announcements might convince him to change his announcement ways, but I'm not optimistic on that happening. Also, the reason for the number of bands is because of the number of passengers. In the early days, there were roughly 2000 'tickets' because of ship capacity. So, he was looking to have about 200 band members (10%), which assuming 5 people per band worked out to 40 bands. Well, when they scaled up to Freedom class, that changed to ~3000 'tickets', so 300 band members (10%) which translated to 60 bands. He WANTS to have bands around the clock on at sea days.
I rewatch Boats n Shows kinda frequently haha. I have a bad case of post-show depression rn, so I'm getting by on videos. Gotta come back to say, just saw Crypta, and fuck YEA man, they were SO awesome. I missed their first few songs which suuucked because they were the main band I went to see. Gotta see them again asap. But yea, they're even better live than on the records. Massive smiles, great sound, fantastic energy. They closed with From The Ashes of course, and Fernanda kept looking over, smiling and pointing at me, as I was screaming along to every word and making ALL the faces. End of the show, I reallly wanted a pick.. Tianá came back round and put one right in my hand and gave it a good squeeze as she said "thank you." I look at the pick and it had a whale on it.. random? Well, being a chick who fucken _loves_ whales, my stoke went through the roof at that. Was I immediately tempted to break into full on whale song? absolutely, and I almost did 😂 but instead, as Fernanda passed, I just yelled "I got a fucken whale pick FernanDA"🤘 Pretty sure she heard me, cuz I was the one of the few still screaming haha, and she smiled again as she went offstage. Seriously rad. One of my favorite shows this year, and I didn't even see the whole thing! Eyes are clockwork orange peeled for the next time they come here, but maan, I'd travel far and wide to see them again! Cannot say enough good things about them, so Wyatt, fangirling is a most appropriate response 😎👌
@10:05 I am scrambling to hear live stanne with in flames across europe. this is a dream come true, like weathering the storm, ie stanne with insomnium... even though stanne was the vocalist in the first in flames album
I was fortunate enough to be on the boat for the 2020 cruise(yeah ik that was a close one). But the lineup for that year was fuckin amazing, getting to see moonsorrow, candlemass, emperor, wintersun, kampfar, venom, suffocation, finntroll just to name a few was a dream come true.
Looks like fun. My wife and I may try to go to the 2025 cruise. Will be my first. Will also be a change. I've spent quite a long time as a Tech. I look forward to just relaxing and enjoying the show
Well I just watched this whole series without realizing it. Don't really care for cruises but I fully agree with the whole scheduling bands to play in the wee hours of the morning is just stupid. Not all metalheads are night owls so that's kind of annoying. Sorry you didn't get to see Wolfheart, they're one of my favorites. Even met the vocalist after a show once and he was a very chill easy going guy with a hell of a voice. Thank you for putting this whole series together. The footage is great, the commentary is perfect, and the jokes are on point.
I gotta say, I think a cruise would be the absolute worst way for me to spend my vacation. BUT if it was filled with metalheads and near constant concerts, I could see the appeal. Especially as a fan of symphonic metal, and especially Epica, as it has been established, I don't like being dirty at a festival so having easy access to a private shower just sounds perfect xD
I wouldn't go on this cruise if you paid me $10,000 (and the cost of the cruise itself was free). As far as the merch goes, who cares? I wouldn't wait even 2 minutes in line for a shirt. Go online and buy it (if its a band shirt) and if its some exclusive "70k of Metal" shirt big deal. I wouldn't want to wear that around anyway. And out of the entire list of paid customers, the law of statistics say that there is going to a bunch of irritating d-bags that will piss you off and of course - I would be stuck near them whether watching a show, trying to eat, at the bar, in a hot tub etc. etc. But because of this series of videos - I got to see the experience & thank you for sharing my friend, cheers!
There's more than meet the eye, merch is bad when it open but later in the day, gets empty, not really douchebags, been everywhere on the boat and no one is like that TBH, idk where you heard that
Hi Wyatt, i wish you and your Band Good luck in Wacken. I'm from Germany, you must check out the Party San open air, is the coolest and Biggest extrem Metal Festivals. And the Summer Breeze is the little Brother from Wacken.
Sorry if it was addressed elsewhere, but what is the cost per passenger? Also, is the largest venue big enough to hold "everybody"? It seems like it would be easily possible to NOT be able to see the more popular bands due to capacity.
The lowest cost after all fees and taxes and everything is about $2K, but that includes all your food aswell. For the capacity I don't think that's ever been an issue? Possibly in the smaller lounge but the other 3 venues don't usually limit anyone
The no old people or kids part sounds awesome. The Metal sounds as similar and boring to me as Beyonce. I like my music like I like my women, cold and long dead.
@14:00 the staff from the boat probably have the only 4 workdays with humans on that boat, can fun and chill and crack a joke with the human customers, like everyday should have been for them, rather than the born-rich asshole brats the 350 other workdays :/
The staff people are fucking amazing, they would legit stop working and pass by stages and record with their phones stay like 5 min watch and then they keep working, the people in the windjammer are fun specially the guy in the entrance, playing guitar and shit, they are kind people
70k of Metal should hire you as the marketing director, seriously. You made a 4 part series that was movie length, all with commentary and even made viable suggestions to improve the cruise at the end.
His title could be the savior of the 70 tons of metal.
He just did it for free... Why would they hire him?
"Definitely not for the metal fans with sticks up their asses, this was for those with inflatable pick axes." What a banger line 😂
I actually came up with that on the spot haha
No T Rex though I noticed.
@@starscreamthecruel8026there was a few t rexes, and if I remember correctly there was a kid with a T-Rex suit

Excellent series. Starting to feel weird that my kids growing up to be metal heads too means joining a wholesome, respectable and polite subgroup.
Fernanda is the reason Nervosa was great and Crypta is surpassing them.

I've spent quite a long time as a Tech. I look forward to just relaxing and enjoying the show
my soul literally craves this r n. Im gonna go in a few years.
Batshit buffoonery! Savoring sizzling steak! This was a very fun video!! 🤘🏻
I watched all 4 parts and that was very entertaining.
Awesome! 👍🏻
Sounds awesome! Hope to go one day!
Enjoyed these videos. Only thing missing was any sound of said bands otherwise all good 🤘🤘🤘
Well I just watched this whole series without realizing it.
There's more than meet the eye, merch is bad when it open but later in the day, gets empty, not really douchebags, been everywhere on the boat and no one is like that TBH, idk where you heard that
Crypta fucking slays and everyone whonhas met her says Fernanda is super cool and friendly
For the Merch issue, what about a pre sale on merch and have the merch available for pick up on the ship?
Wolfheart is awesome. Past 12 months I have seen them 3 times🤘
I enjoyed this series
Hi Wyatt, i wish you and your Band Good luck in Wacken. I'm from Germany, you must check out the Party San open air, is the coolest and Biggest extrem Metal Festivals. And the Summer Breeze is the little Brother from Wacken.
I had an awesome time on 70K. I'll definitely be back, next year.
Im gonna check out Crypta, did I spell it right?
Yes!
Looks like you had a blast \m/ Just out of curiosity, what was the book you were reading?
"Star Wars: Vision Of The Future" I've only recently started diving into those old books and they're excellent
🤘🤘
listening to death metal instead of the corny dialogue at the last part of cameron's titanic... might make it a watchable film :D
ROCK N STONE!
Wind Rose and Xandria are touring the US very soon.
Also i hope you went and saw saor because there was no mention of them on all 4 videos
I felt like I was there!, except without actually getting to meet Fernanda :(
Sorry if it was addressed elsewhere, but what is the cost per passenger? Also, is the largest venue big enough to hold "everybody"? It seems like it would be easily possible to NOT be able to see the more popular bands due to capacity.
The lowest cost after all fees and taxes and everything is about $2K, but that includes all your food aswell. For the capacity I don't think that's ever been an issue? Possibly in the smaller lounge but the other 3 venues don't usually limit anyone
Looks like a lot of fun. Not enough bars though.
That is bad ass. You didn't get to see Unleashed? Will you be at MDF?
Will you be at Milwaukee Metal Fest this year???
Yes!
Metalhead Pikachu \m/
This is just about the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of and how many people came off this cruise with a disease 😮
@13:00 stanley kubrick ref +1
I'd have to agree: quantity over quality will leave an overall negative impression.
The no old people or kids part sounds awesome. The Metal sounds as similar and boring to me as Beyonce. I like my music like I like my women, cold and long dead.
Hey I'm 64 an went on Headbangers boat last November...
It would cost me five grand for this!
You missed Unleashed set twice? 😂
@14:00 the staff from the boat probably have the only 4 workdays with humans on that boat, can fun and chill and crack a joke with the human customers, like everyday should have been for them, rather than the born-rich asshole brats the 350 other workdays :/
The staff people are fucking amazing, they would legit stop working and pass by stages and record with their phones stay like 5 min watch and then they keep working, the people in the windjammer are fun specially the guy in the entrance, playing guitar and shit, they are kind people
Dang thirteen minutes ago 💀
But still awesome lol
