Sekiro combat is obviously more realistic and fluid, but it becomes a bit slow towards the end to the point where mastering Sekiro is a n easy feet. wo long, my gosh, when mastered becomes absolute peak. It's lighting fast to the point where it becomes like a blender, but you still understand and react to everything. Combining parries, skills and wuxing counters it truly lets you feel like one of those insane youtubers who boss rush lvl 1 no dmg. I will however complain like many others that the first boss is indeed too difficult. You are still trying to learn the ropes and they throw 2 phase boss (which is 2 bosses) right off the bat. The boss attacks are lighting fast and wo long does not mess around with its combat. it throws 90% of the mechanics in the first level. You are already expected to deflect, block, dodge, use martial arts use wizardry, mix between light and heavy attacks, keep an eye on your health and stamina...
Your content has been bias for a while but let’s be real this looks way more like nioh then sekiro. This seems like a horrible take in the title and just disrespectful to how great sekiro.

On man, that 1st boss took me an age. For me, victory came in learning to show the bosses more respect. You can plough in like in Souls. Stay back, avoid that tail - wait for red attacks to deflect and cause real damage.
Agreed. I died so many times as a result of not respecting the boss and swinging recklessly out of frustration . Once you slow down, learn all the attack patterns, master deflect and get your reactions fine tuned it's such a blast to play.
Weird title, this doesn't play like Sekiro and isn't going for the same thing either. One of the great things about Sekiro was the lack of RPG mechanics imo.
You know what would be really a funny thing to do if from soft wanted to troll pirates they could change all the bosses on a pirated copy to the solider of godrick
ill be honest i massively preferred nioh 1 story with william. character creators bore the shit out of me. with the exception of cyberpunk, it just means your character is a lobotomized mute who does nothing and shouldn't even exist. I could get attached to william but when its a created character that never talks and has no personality that ruins it for me. I love these games including nioh 2 but because it was a created character i dont remember a single aspect of the story although i remember almost all of nioh 1.
Two questions: How much of the demo progress moves over? When you say “Nioh 1 energy,” how is that reflected in the length? Nioh 1 long outstayed its welcome and was probably 1/3 longer than it should have been, IMO. I LOVED the demo.
I killed like 90% of enemies in stealth or just shredder him to death with duel blades. I feel like fast weapons are a bit op but okay. The the first boss is misplaced, way to early in the game. All bosses after the first feel way to easy in my opinion. You can just straight up killing them in under 60 sec.. The last boss is a joke compair to genchiro or any other sekiro boss. More diffrent enemies would be great next time.
I never played these type of games until eldin ring and I fell in love. I’ve been looking for another game with that style for Xbox x. Is this similar?
Great game and an accessible entry into the genre of parry-focussed action games. The 2nd half of the game picks up the pace by A LOT - I'm even getting Nioh vibes both regarding difficulty and annoying death traps. But the game is a lot of fun and the 1st half (up to and excluding Taotie, maybe Lu Bu) feels fair. Edit: Team Ninja was, is and will allways be miles apart from From Soft. They don't even play in the same league. So do not expect the level of perfection that you get in Bloodborne or DS3.
I get what your saying about the flags. However, Kodama are 100% required in Nioh 1 and 2. While not as impactful on a level to level basis as Wo Long, it's in your best interest to find each and every one. Not only do they give you the obvious Kodama boon of your choice, they actually increase your Elixir capacity for the region you collect them in. It's a basically "don't get hit vs.a don't heal" comparison. Just sayin'.
After HOURS of getting through Elden Ring - I seriously think I - currently - will have to pass on this one. Not beacuse I think its bad but beacuse I got FATIGUE! ;) Great vid Matty, keep it up man.

Some of the most bland enemy and environment design I have seen in a "Soulslike" game since ... oh wait Nioh 2
On the second phase you can instakill the boss at half health with devine beast
All the sweaty sekiro meat riders in here lmao
Isn’t that what Matty wants? I can’t see any other reason to mention another game in the title other than the one you’re reviewing.
Nahh bro bugging, he basically saying he prefers Sierra Mist over sprite😂 like how you gonna like the knock of sekiro more than sekiro?
Lol
You sound like a stereotypical COD redditor. Calling fans of a single player game sweaty? Lol.
Nah also nioh fans who think this game is a downgrade in most ways
I'm happy the Crocodile Dentist croc finally gets an appearance in the game.
Sekiro is the Sekiro everyone wanted dude... lol
Are you playing it on series x or Xbox one?
I was hoping for more Sekiro like games. I was afraid that devs would be a afraid of making one because of the high difficulty that players complains about. It's really hard to find a very satisfying game combat-wise like Sekiro.
u know, i made the mistake of playing Sekiro as my first Fromsoft game. reason is, dark souls 3 just didn't feel too good after Sekiro, but if I had played DS3 first, i'm sure it would be different, i would have realyl liked ds3 more probably
@@guybrushthreepwood8174 If you did, you will find it frustrating since old habits from other Fromsoft games like Bloodborne and DS games such as dodging would punish you. But once you get a hang of it, dang Sekiro combat is just so satisfying, it's like a dance/rhythm game.
I would play this but since it’s like a souls like I won’t play it cause I hate hard games I like to play games for enjoyment not to be frustrated.
@@MalikATL thats why when you start to master games like this they give the best sense of achievement ever, thats my personal experience anyway.
@@guybrushthreepwood8174 you can't play it like sekiro. It's a slower game but very good. You have to treat it like a souls game and it's very worth it.
Great review Matty! I also share the Nioh 2 love. I just beat the demo and just waiting for that game pass drop to continue that save and devour this game lol
I'm glad this one is a hit! I also LOVE the Warriors type games, I even have all of the Nintendo ones as well. My favorite , hot take, is DW6. I love that one. Koei went big here and it looks incredible!
DW6 was a pretty fun combat system. The outfits were also cool and the sound tracks never disappoints. I only didn't like the cloning of some characters.
I'm looking forward to giving this game a run.
The difficulty in this game though is tough Matty
Bro Matty has become the opposite. If he says it's good, it's mod to trash, if he says it's bad or mid, it's legendary.
Idk how this happened but this is proof.
Recommendation: AC Valhalla
Doesn't recommend: Atomic hearts
Nuff said
im just happy that we atleast got this on xbox. No reason why we shouldnt have nioh but whatever. Atleast we have this and final fantasy origins. I am really digging team ninja lately.
You're the man Matty! Keep grindin"
I hope this gets some good attention
This is the Matty content I wanted
Your content has been bias for a while but let’s be real this looks way more like nioh then sekiro. This seems like a horrible take in the title and just disrespectful to how great sekiro.
The bias does annoy me on his channel but it's not that bad man but not close to Sekiro or nioh actually. It's a downgrade from both but still fun
@@malazan6004 I agree I’m still subbed but it’s an over exaggeration and makes me feel like I’m watching an ad
Ok thank u because the opening boss is harrrrd AF. I thought i must really suck lol. I beat that tiger thing for the helmet NP but that boss is killing my ass
Damn man, I was really hoping they'd tone down the loot in this game. It's overwhelming in the nioh games
I love that sht lollll
Yeah way too much loot in nioh definitely turned me off
The problem is most loot in nioh was trash
Cusotmizing your charactsr in depth requires alot of loot.
@@kevinsims5791
It's quite amusing that these people don't understand this simple concept. Loot isn't even really an issue until later difficulties, when you are truly fleshing out your build.
I’m stepping in to say…….well actually
This game kicks ass. I love it
On man, that 1st boss took me an age. For me, victory came in learning to show the bosses more respect. You can plough in like in Souls. Stay back, avoid that tail - wait for red attacks to deflect and cause real damage.
Or you just deflect everything
Agreed. I died so many times as a result of not respecting the boss and swinging recklessly out of frustration . Once you slow down, learn all the attack patterns, master deflect and get your reactions fine tuned it's such a blast to play.
Yeah he beat me up pretty bad.
Weird title, this doesn't play like Sekiro and isn't going for the same thing either. One of the great things about Sekiro was the lack of RPG mechanics imo.
Not a fan personally. I cant stand being tunneled into one gameplay style in any game when previous games offer so much depth in comparison.
You know what would be really a funny thing to do if from soft wanted to troll pirates they could change all the bosses on a pirated copy to the solider of godrick
They can’t do that.
@@ni9274 They can't? How come?
Dang it Matty.... Patrick Kane is still my Captain forever Blackhawk!!! Still rooting for him even as a Ranger
This video confirms Matty plays games on easy or story telling mode
He plays boring JRPGs. Atomic Heart is above his league
@@daksans6764 if it's not turned based he's done
@@PudgyBoiGaming He has weird taste in games.
Easy mode Matty
I don't understand how you play so many games. Are reviewers just playing 3hrs of a game? I've been playing the same game since October...
He basically answers your question at the beginning of the video
It is his full / part time work if you spend 8 hours on games you will finish every game in couple of days away of mmo
Team Ninja delivers !
I'll play it eventually, but I doubt it's as good as Sekiro
That pop in was crazy!
Freeon gamepass is how you would play this man i had it in cart for PS5 but would be silly to buy it on release.
ill be honest i massively preferred nioh 1 story with william. character creators bore the shit out of me. with the exception of cyberpunk, it just means your character is a lobotomized mute who does nothing and shouldn't even exist. I could get attached to william but when its a created character that never talks and has no personality that ruins it for me. I love these games including nioh 2 but because it was a created character i dont remember a single aspect of the story although i remember almost all of nioh 1.
The Chunan theme song playing the background fits this perfectly 😂
I liked Nioh 1 more than 2 😅
The sekiro I wanted was Sekiro
Two questions:
How much of the demo progress moves over?
When you say “Nioh 1 energy,” how is that reflected in the length? Nioh 1 long outstayed its welcome and was probably 1/3 longer than it should have been, IMO.
I LOVED the demo.
Well dang. If I'd known today was embargo day I'd have had a different question for the Dukes.
It’s nowhere near Sekiro lol
Solid review Matty. Been really enjoying my time with this game. There are some epic boss fights so far
I'm on ps5 0 issues game is running perfectly
Are you using Shenmue music? 😭 I want Shenmue IV😢
Love your reviews
Already bought I’m playing the demo now on pc
I never played these type of games until eldin ring and I fell in love. I’ve been looking for another game with that style for Xbox x. Is this similar?
Get the dark souls trilogy and play it through back compatibility. You've got a wealth of fantastic games to play mate. I envy you lol
Play ds 3 atleast and sekiro; both better games than this
Great game and an accessible entry into the genre of parry-focussed action games.
Looks like discount Sekiro ngl. Also one of my favorite parts about Sekiro is the lack of rpg elements it makes it much more focused than most games.
just because you can't find something doesn't mean there is something wrong
I get what your saying about the flags. However, Kodama are 100% required in Nioh 1 and 2. While not as impactful on a level to level basis as Wo Long, it's in your best interest to find each and every one. Not only do they give you the obvious Kodama boon of your choice, they actually increase your Elixir capacity for the region you collect them in. It's a basically "don't get hit vs.a don't heal" comparison. Just sayin'.
Please the sekiro you wanted ? Look at the Monkey boss from Sekiro and its pattern. Look at the Monkey boss of Wo long. And you'll see the difference.
Yeah you smoking crack if you think this game is as good or better than sekiro
After HOURS of getting through Elden Ring - I seriously think I - currently - will have to pass on this one. Not beacuse I think its bad but beacuse I got FATIGUE! ;) Great vid Matty, keep it up man.
Elden Ring came out a year ago.
I feel ya
@@MaxIronsThird I was late to the party.
Atomic Heart > mediocre Japanese games based on sword combat
@@Hauerization it will fade and you'll be back and find it's a whole new game the second playthrough. You'll know what you want and where stuff is so you don't need to do EVERYTHING like before. You'd have a different build to use, which is always fun and the game feels smaller and less overwhelming the second time around. Trust me. I'm going through that now 😂. I beat the game at launch, didn't play for a few months, made a new character, and I beat it about a week ago and started a new character to co-op with that uses bows. I'm re hooked 😂
