    The six-digit code they want is so they can set up a Google account under your phone number. Thanks for alerting me to this! 👍👍

      @@mkvv5687 I've had people contact me via Facebook asking for help to access their Facebook account. 🤷‍♀🤦‍♀ It's usually so staggeringly stupid that the red flags hit you in the face, but this one is sneaky.

    I have fun with scam callers on my mobile phone. My specialty is pretending I can't hear them or understand what they want. Eventually THEY end the call. Supposedly scam caller supervisors don't want the scammers to end the call without constantly trying to get what they want from victims. I feel good when the scammer ends the call 🤣 I also ask if their "great deal" is available on the website of the company so I can look at it in more detail rather than make a decision during a phone call. They love that too (!) 🤣🤣🤣

      I had one call my wife and she passed it on to me when they started asking for personal info. I took it and started deflecting their questions. The guy was getting pretty irritated and kept asking why I was not providing "the necessary informations". Finally I got bored and said, "Because I think you may be a scam. In today's security environment, I'm sure you can understand." Click.

    The other day my phone rang, and Caller ID said, "Scam Likely."
    So, I answered it.
    By saying, "Hello, Scam Likely, how may I help you today?"
    They didn't say a word, just hung up.

      What's the digit code scam mean...

    • @mkvv5687
      @mkvv5687 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mrnemo1480 Someone has the username to an account of yours, and is trying to change the password. The reset procedure is often to send a code to the phone number on file. If you read the code back to them, they change the pw, and you're locked out of whichever account they're trying to hack.

    I never respond with any affirmative words (yes, okay, that'll be fine), as the voice bots can twist that and use it against you saying they have your voice approval. I only answer a human's questions with more questions.

      It's apparently a scam to get Google Voice to allow them to take some control; I don't understand the mechanism but there are various sites that describe it.

    I know that “ my own personal safety” is not the real reason for the 6-digit number, but why/how would such a number be protective?
