Bluegill are amazing cornbreaded and fried. Had access to a gated private lake growing up that was loaded with massive ones. Find a school in a cove and could fish up 20 or more in a couple hours. They also fought like fish twice their size.
Crappie has 2 pronunciations. It can rhyme with poppy, or as he said it. It's also called the white perch in louisiana, & is their state fish. Louisianans usually say the poppy pronounciation. In case anyone is curious.

We caught Crappie and Bluegills back in Indiana when I was a boy. Cooked and ate every single one of them.
Cool story bro but let me call my friend whose an expert in cool stories 😅😎
When I was a kid, I used to tie a string around my toe with a small hook and bubblegum. I'd sit on the end of our dock with my feet in the water and catch bluegill all day.
The fish looks delicious!!
Looks really good! I like going fishing with my Dad or my brothers too- the day before we'll go to the supermarket & buy a load of food like sandwiches, crisps, chocolate, pop & sweets, my Dad will take a comfy fold out chair for me & a little pop up tent & a camping mattress incase I need a rest (I'm disabled with a lot of health issues & get tired very easily), take a little camping stove to make cups of tea etc & just fish for carp or pike. I'll even sometimes take my little magpie with me- he just happily sits in his little pram (a little cage on wheels which I take him out in) in the shade of the tent, suntrapping (the bird version of sunbathing) & playing with his toys & treasures. The other people around the lake find it hilarious that I take a magpie fishing with me but he loves the sunshine & fresh air. Me & my dad or my brothers will sit chatting & laughing & have a great time. I want to be able to take my baby crow too as soon as she is old enough. But it's just good to be in nature & spending time catching up coz I don't see them very often. I remember one time with my younger brother we were talking about bait & lures & the best way to attract the fish. I had a box of Froot Loops cereal that I'd ordered off a website selling American sweets & snacks (we do have Froot Loops over here in the UK but they aren't the same as the US ones because they taste pretty bland & aren't as brightly coloured due to the rules over here about sugar & additives etc). We decided to try an experiment by throwing a few Froot Loops onto the surface of the water to see if it would attract the fish & I even put one on the hook & it worked! We both caught a beautiful big carp & lots of little fish like perch etc. Was good fun. But there's something peaceful about fishing & the only thing that matters is enjoying it 💙🎣🐟
Unfortunate you keep a free bird in a cage its whole life…u should just take in wounded pets & release when they’re well instead of taking & then making a healthy animal Ill w atrophy of the mind, body and soul 😢
@@kimlarso *sigh* I'm a specialist carer for disabled corvids- birds that CANNOT be released into the wild- my little magpie is missing one of his wings & can't fly so he wouldn't survive in the wild. They aren't "kept in cages" but big enclosures & they spend most of their time out of these enclosures with me where I talk to them & play with them. My little magpie Jake is only put in his pram when I take him out. Either that or if we are going out for only a short while he either rides on my shoulder or is attatched to a glove with jesses on his anklets. Like I said I'm a specialist carer for disabled corvids- my birds are given constant attention, love & care & are constantly occupied. They aren't just kept in a cages & left to get on with it. Please don't be so quick to judge & jump to conclusions when you don't knoa the context

Nice Catch. Looks Delicious Enjoy your Blessings 🙏🏿 💯 🇨🇦 ✨️ 🌟
Back in 96 me and my buddies did this challenge... You can also catch bullfrogs at night with worms. Dangle worm right above frogs... Miss them days
Thanks man this helps
I'm so glad you pronounce crappie the right way.
Never thought I would hear crappie and good in the same sentence :)
We pronounce it "Croppy" fish.
Bluegills and perch are definitely the best eating panfish-- Crappies are a distant third----
@@thomasfoss9963 Crappie are better than both in every way. To say anything else is pure delusion.
Love catching those and they are delicious. Me and my cousin camped a lot growing up and always near a pond. We caught and cooked so many of these. Great days prolly 71-75 then we grew up and got too busy to enjoy the simple things like this.
"Crawppee"
@@jakolby6511 now that was mature... how old are you?
Damn, I thought you liked the fish but you called it crappy
Better than saying “croppy” like some dumbass.
I love fishing but I got tendonitis from working so it’s hard for me to cast my fishing line now. I wish there’s another way but thanks for sharing your catch ♥️😊👍♥️
Blue gill are yummy
Surprised how many people are learning this for the first time. Glad you’re teaching them. Probably gonna need to learn how to survive someday
Thank U for showing us nearly the whole process ❤
This is what my springs and summers are all about in Ohio.
I love fishing then frying the fresh fish on an open fire!! Delicious!!❤❤😅
When everytime watch you fish it reminds me of my grandpa fishing but he died...
Dude that was such a good SHORT! Great content! Keep the tips and tricks of the trade coming please . .
So envious of the many lakes and ponds with fish near ya
My dad always had a flour mix and some oil in the car. He'd use a small camping stove just to fry up like half a cup of fish at a time. Everywhere we go he's ready for it. Tartar sauce and butter+lime if you want to make it better but you don't even need it. Lol i never really liked fish but a nice coat of flour and frying them makes it sooooooo goooooooood. I would save SOO much money today if i could do that again. Sometimes i'd wake up at 3 AM and fish with him from 4-6 and we'd be back home with fish ready for my mom. Now days i can barely get up at 8...lol
So wholesome. Thank you kind sir.🧂🐟
When you’re in a survival situation and you’ve got your fishing rod, cast iron skillet, your knife, and butter etc.😂😂
Good to get your boys interested in fishing more fun to cook what you caught with your dad that day than just letting everything go
You are 10000% right about the crappy. We call em specks where I grew up. So yummy 😋🤤
I’ve never tried fishing, this guy makes it look easy. I have a feeling it’s not as easy as he makes it seem though.
You are wrong,it is that easy
@@Michael-v5t oh it is easy? My bad, i didn’t know…
@@17sweetheart oh yeah, easy as Pie my friend.
These guys are pretty delicious for a simple breakfast. My grandma would often go to the local stocked lake to fish (unlicensed) to feed us grandkids with some kimchi and rice and it always hit the spot. I'd wrap it up in seaweed with a little salt and pepper and butter to the rice to added taste. Money! 👨🏽🍳🤌🏽
So refreshing to see the entire fish remain whole from water to pan.
Wow what a calm stress free day, beautiful 👏🏽
Good advice… I never would’ve thought to use my bass rod and fishing tackle to go fishing in a survival situation . Fish as a source of food . Crazy 🤯
I grew up on pan fish. Free food for our family. Gotta love it
We call them "croppie" and they're delicious! We caught several before our tank dried up one year, and ended up keeping the largest as a pet in our fish tank! 😄 It ate all our guppies, and we fed it worms. Named him "fat fishy" 😊
My favorite fish, ever! So much better than catfish!
Bluegill are amazing cornbreaded and fried. Had access to a gated private lake growing up that was loaded with massive ones. Find a school in a cove and could fish up 20 or more in a couple hours. They also fought like fish twice their size.
I always bring my fancy fishing gear and cooler when Im stuck in a survival situation.
Love ❤️ Yah! Keep up the good work 👍🤠
Crappie has 2 pronunciations. It can rhyme with poppy, or as he said it. It's also called the white perch in louisiana, & is their state fish. Louisianans usually say the poppy pronounciation. In case anyone is curious.
I gotta add crappie are my favorite fish. One of the best things about them. When you run out of bait you can just cut up a small one.
Good to see you cooking them without trying to fillet them. A lot of meat is wasted in the process of filleting small fish like this. Great job
I wish my Dad would take me fishing but he doesn't like fishing, but I like all these fishing videos and want to fish too
Crappie in my opinion is comparable to yellow tail snapper, absolutely delicious
Crappie & Blue Gill are some of the most delicious fish anytime!
Dad used to take me perch jerkin and guess they were crappie idk but boy good memories! Thanks for this! You could even crunch on the fins!
I love the idea of just cooking the fish whole like this. I've never done it though.
The only video that makes me happy is catch n cook ❤❤❤
Im glad to see a catch & cook online for once
Our rivers are full of blue gill and crappy. Easy to catch but they’re small. Never tried them. But it’s fun to catch them, and then release them.
You could also use a spoon to get the scales off. That way you save the edge of your knife for other projects/tasks.
Yum. An amazing idea. Thanks for the information.
Crappie and Bluegill are the best tasting fish in my opinion, especially when they're caught fresh like this. I live a mile away from Kentucky Lake so I grew up eating those bad boys, I wish I had a mess of them right now haha🤤
Pan fish definitely good, I used to live by a big lake and I had a spot I could pull 20 out no problem if I wanted to. Had plenty of catch n cooks with them! 👌🏼 Trout is good too, I like catfish as well, has to be cooked right, though.
