I grew up eating Ma Mon Luk in Aurora Blvd. sa may Cubao, sa Quezon City in the early 60s. It’s the best dim sum restaurant in the Philippines. Pag uwi ko dyan. Diretsyo ako Ryan hehe 😜. Watching from Los Angeles California. God bless po.

Thank you for featuring old schools in Manila! I was an alumni of Centro Escolar University from the 50’s to the mid 60’s! We celebrated the CEU golden jubilee in 1957! It’s the first University for women which played an important role in forming our women to leadership and good social upbringing! I’m so proud of my Alma Mater! Ma Mon Luk is our favorite hang out with my barkada and Little Quiapo! The cheapest and healthy meal you can get in Ma Mon Luk! Keep the good work hijo!👏👍

Ang orihinal na Ma Mon Luk ay nasa Benavidez st. sa Chinatown na may bagong pangalan na Masuki. Ang unang isineserve nila nung unang magbukas sila sa Salazar st. ay mami, asado siopao at siomai lamang. Meron pang mga branches ang Masuki sa SM Megamall at Lucky Chinatown Mall.
Korek... hinihintay ko nga banggitin yun benavidez st. Sa ibaba mismo ng building na pagaari ni Don Juan Lim na father ng classmate at bestfriend ko.
Iba ang "Masuki" sa Ma Mon Luk. Pinsan ni Ma Wen-Lu (founder of Ma Mon Luk) ang nagtayo ‘yan noong late 30’s as another branch of Ma mon Luk, later nagsarili siys at tinawag na "Ma Kong" at ginaya niya yung same formula.
Same din ‘yung "Mami King" sa California, USA (OK din ang Mami doon, kulang sa lasa yung sauce) tinayo ng mga kamaganak ng original Ma Mon Luk na nag migrate sa States.
@@tonycabaguing9337 - The first "Ma Kong" restuarant in Binondo was started in 1960’s by John Ma. According to Gwyneth, daughter of John Ma and present owner of Ma Kong, renamed “Masuki" in an interview her Father migrated to the Philippines, from Guangdong, in the 30’s with his Uncle. They operated another branch of Ma Mon Luk in Binondo of their relative Ma Wen-Lu (Founder) before they started their own restaurant.
They’re of the family called Ma (馬) which means Horse (Mandarin, Cantonese, Hakka). Could be a coincidence that they use a Bamboo pole, called ‘Kabayo’ to knead the dough for their noodles.
They say the word ‘Mami’ came from their surname Ma and the word Mi which means noodle. Though that is debatable, since there are illustrations, articles and pictures of Noodles soup dishes being served in the Philippines during the Spanish era, by Chinese peddlers with baskets and scissors to cut the noodles, or in established Panciteria (Pan is Spanish for bread or wheat dough)

the taste of mamonluk never change as far as i remember.. when i was a kid .. favorite ni mama mag order ng mamonluk and before pandemic na try ko uli ang noodles ( quiapo branch) nila and the taste is the same delicious souppppp and also the brown sauce is really so delectible but it is only thru TUBERO vlogg that i know about the origin of this ever famous noodle house... thanks Fern...

Memories yan video mo bata pko 1960s araw ng lingo simba kme ng pamilya ko sa Quiapo Church tapos lakad sa Quezon Blvd punta kme sa Macomber Store bili ng sikat nla Jeans then sa Ma Mom Luk at kain ng sarap na Mami at Asado Siopao. Mga 5 or 6 years ago na yata yung huling kain q jan sa quiapo branch na yan,... it looks dilapidated, malungkot na yung ambiance,.. parang nostalgia na lang ang dahilan kung bakit pa ako kumain dun.
I miss mamonluk , unique taste ! One of a kind , it was never air conditioned, but I like the ambiance ! Great vlog again !

The last time I had Mamonluk before I flew to USA for good was way back in the 70’s though every time I come home for a visit, I never failed to try my old time favorite. I’ll never ever grow tired of Ma Mon Luk.

Sarap! My dad used to bring home siopao from there, we lived near Banawe. Minsan, he would go there while my mom & I played tennis, then he'd bring us some for merienda. I miss the special siopao (bola-bola) & their special sauce..nagutom ako bigla! The last time I've had siopao from there was '85 pa yata before we left for the US.

Been eating at Ma Mon Luk / Masuki for over 40+ years. Still has the same great taste and high quality as before. The only thing that changed was the price. I still visit their restaurant from time to time whenever I am in Manila/Quezon City.

I grew up in Espana, Sampaloc. As a child i will cross that street to Legarda Elemetary school, on traffic, on a daily basis. In the 60's there wasn't an island in the middle of the street so people can cross anywhere. I guess i'm lucky, still alive today.
At the Rotonda, my favorite place was Grand Inihaw and some other beer houses. It was 1 peso for a San Miguel beer on happy hour.
You go further down towards Dapitan, the hospital where I was born, Sta Teresita Hospital.
With Ma Mon Luk, I've been to the one in Quiapo and Quizon City. I noticed not a single vacant lot now in Quezon Blvd or is it Quezon Avenue? I always thought that Quezon Blvd in Quezon City was an extention of the Quezon Blvd in Manila.

My dad used to love this restaurant. We would always pass by for him to take out food as we drive back home to Fairview. I have never tried it myself since as kids, my dad would joke that the siopao is made out of cats. That was enough to scare me away! Looking at it now, seems it's not at all. Lol. Willing to try it now then!

I love Ma Mon Luk when I was in early 20s, But that was in Aurora Blvd in Araneta Center. I order lomi, special siopao and a coke or Pepsi. Now I’m 66 years old and retired engineer in America.

Nakakain ako dyan sa Ma Mon Luk. Meron pang isa dun sa Quiapo. Ang pangalan ng kainan ay Wa Pak sikat sa hototay. Huminto lang ako sa pagpunta sa mga ganyang kainan nung may chismis na ang karne daw na hinahalo sa mami at siopao ay pusa daw

Aside sa branch nila sa Quiapo, dinadala din ako ng nanay ko (noong grade schooler pa lang ako) sa Cubao branch nila sa gilid ng New Frontier Theater building (I believe that's along Gen. Malvar) after watching a movie in that theater on weekends. I love, then, to order siopao at dinuguan. I am now 62

Egg noodles, chicken or beef soup. Pibaglagaan ng sangkap na manok, or baka may ajinomoto din. Masarap yan pag may sichuan chilli oil.
Nakakatuwa naman malapit lang samin tong Ma Mon Luk pero now ko lang nalaman ang history nito. Since tamad ako mag basa ng books, manonood na lng ko ng ng mga vlogs nyo sir. ☺️
