Im still sitting on the fence about getting one, but like you I have a large maple tree to cut down by my house and it would by a lot better then trying to use a gas saw.
Yeah its really good for climbing work. A lot of arborists are going to battery power... it has advantages. That said this chainsaw is NOT professional grade for sure.
