The biggest problem about freelancing is, It's all Virtual. You don't get to meet people, you don't get your own office for first 4 yrs, you don't get friends, you don't have fixed working hours(not a drawback maybe) but as a freelancer, Life is just not fixed as of other job holders, There is no stability & security. With time, there is fear that your skill might get old with coming tech. Your degree is of no use after 4 yrs of freelancing. Also, Now you don't have office timings, no friends, after your work, more chances that you'll find yourself miserable. You'll work as freelancer for 10-20 yrs & what after that? you'll work till end as freelancer then what about your mental health? you'll be sitting infront of laptop all day long & meeting people virtually? you don't get to travel to office & your work start in bed??
if you become freelancer yo can work from wherever you want to you can travel and also enjoy your life and earn more money also so dont say this bullshit again
People who have been working for 15-20 years in the same sector and who are being laid off are also in a precarious situation today, with the only saving grace being that they may have made savings through their years of being in a job. Otherwise, they're facing issues because they don't have skills relevant to "today." Most degrees are of no use after 4 years of even being in a job, so not much of a difference here again. NO job is 100% secure today. Also, the mental health of freelancers is FAR better than those in a job ! I'm a 37 year old professional who has worked in full-time offline jobs in diverse sectors (pre-pandemic) while also running my own venture. I work regularly with young adolescents; this includes tech graduates in well-paying jobs in well-known MNCs, and they're the most unfulfilled lot with far worse mental health, mainly emerging from 'unfulfillment'. They're the ones glued to their laptops, whereas those working in non-tech sectors or those freelancing have a vibrant social life thanks to "time ownership," which one doesn't get in so-called secure full-time jobs.
