Tbh, Proto Merlin is more of a Stall/CQ servant, who can definitely help with looping along with Xu Fu and Castoria. Is she gonna overtake Castoria, no. Is she a great sub for those who don't have Castoria and need some more horsepower, heck yea she is. Again, I would pick Xu Fu cause permanent 3 star, but she's still a great pull to get. Also, she pairs really well with servants like Percival and such who already have strong defensive options and just needs more horsepower.
With her that makes a total of 5 supports for np looping. Meaning you don't really need your friends help anymore. You can literally loop on your own without friend support at this point.
Now if only Summer Skadi is the new quick support we were waiting for... Althoug I care a shit if she's strong or not 2024 will be a madlad year to me only because she.
Definitely going to be great for ST arts like Astrea and technically also for arts riders in general, Vinci rider will be able to loop infinitely with those arts crits (not that she can’t already but I always found it harder in ST boss fights to loop with her when her skill is down)
I think she’s very good and different enough than Castoria but I pray that summer Skadi is another quick support, the idea of both skadis buffing up Scathach to destroy bosses is super hype for me

Seems like a better sustain option, not as good for looping as Castoria, but better in CQ setup due to that massive crit buff and healing. Still slightly frustrating that her NP per turn is tied to NP level, meaning she kinda needs higher NP ranks to be optimal. Unlike Castoria/MMerlin who are just fine at NP1, you really can feel the difference between an NP1 and an NP5 FMerlin so it's not quite as accessible for f2p.
I would really like to try and go for Arts Crits memes with Lady Avalon, Lanling and Saberlot (plug-in Waver maybe?) when she comes out in NA. Too bad the crit amp is only for 1 turn, so it'll most likely go wasted on a break bar, but I love that my favourite type of play (Arts Crit) got this Beast (wink wink) of a Servant

How, exactly? Skadi melt/kama can plugsuit summer BB for 3 turns of NPQQ. But your plugsuit is already used for castoria. Also, P. Merlin's crit is only 1 turn unlike skadi's 3 turn. I don't see much good in setting up a loop.

She’s looks good for my semi dps-stall team. CasGil + ProtoMerlin + Castoria will be perfect for me, not the best kind of team obviously but they have almost everything. And i just realised CasGil have defence up 20% and that’s equivalent to Np3 Jeanne in term of defence. They really need to buff Jeanne once again. Anyway it’s actually quite interesting setup and farming if you ask me. Unreliable but a welcomed one
I like CasGil but the fact that his NPgain is halfed on his NP is rough. I understand it's because of his 10 hits, but halfing his already kind of mediocre bade np gain hurts a lot
My impression is that Avalon has a slightly different niche than Castoria. It's a little more difficult to reach the first NP for your arts looper with 2x Avalon, but if you can manage high NP levels, she all but guarantees continuous looping. Plug a Prisma Cosmos into Avalon and enjoy passive gain allowing an NP every three turns
Its worth noting that np regen per turn scale of her np lvl btw, so her np lvl effect how she helps with farming, although yeah she is pretty much made for stalling, CQs or TA, cant see farming as her domain. Especially that more than triple np during lottery farming already considered waste of time
let me be straight of what happens on my account, i rolled for gareth since i'm liking the NP, i does 8 rolls and got 3 of this succubus and one percival... not a single summer gareth... she's at most, redundant in my already tamamo-castoria roster

Unlikely. Castoria's 30% AoE + 20% ST battery and nearly unbreakable defenses are way too universal for Proto Merlin to overtake. Same reason why OG Merlin was used less often than Waver back in the day, and in this case it's not even that the servant lacking said 50% charge has the weaker kit or anything like that.

I mean she's basically Merlin for arts. You wouldn't bring Merlin for buster looping but you would for longer battles over Koyan. Same with proto Merlin and Castoria (I know castoria is still good in longer battles but you probably can do 1 proto Merlin 1 Castoria). She seems very good because her skills are similar but have nice additional effects over Merlin's skills. Arts was kinda lacking a dedicated 5* crit support.
@@kennynguyen2970 TamAvalon is probably strictly better than CasAvalon in most relevant CQ cases. Higher NP damage, overall faster NP spam to gain mad resources for the big crits. Only real tradeoff is debuff clear but CD reduction in general is also way too large of an advantage.

Fun things is she can use her NP right at turn 1 without support and/or having CE NP charge like Kaleido if that turn have 3 or more enemies, and give Overcharge as well so yea, she's basically broken servant which can immediately have Overcharge lv4 alone at turn 1
well overall she good for cq that you can't finish in 3 turns and the only problem is crit dmg buff only for 1 turn and np/turn depends on np lvl which is suck because you need not only 1 but 5 lvls just to get 10%/turn
One benefit of this group of summer servants is that I can just focus on rolling for Summer Kama during the eventual re-run. No must have servants in this summer event. Not that Proto Merlin doesn't have solid uses. But not someone I feel will drive me to roll like a maniac to get her. Honestly aiming for NP5 Summer Kama sounds more entertaining.
Waifu levels aside they dont seem to be broken. Though Wu and Skadi have the potential to be a quick support. Any ways skadi and merlin are hot af, kinda sad i got shafted already
Rolling for unnecessary np5 of another character over a singular copy of a character who still supports extremely well is weird but again fgo is a personal experience. It's not like not rolling Merlin will never allow you to clear the game it's just a weird justification you have.
For someone who already have Castoria & Tamamo, I don't think she is worth to roll (unless she is your top waifu). Because we can just borrow one from friend list. The only reason you need to get her (gameplay wise) is to make double S. Merlin setup which I don't think necessary because art has Tamamo/Castoria to be paired with her. And for NP oriented art dps, Tamamo is better. While for crit art, Merlin is. Especially considering her crit buff only last 1t and RNG could mistiming it. Maybe the exception in scenario with event bonus dmg where every crit of your dps would have high value. Idk if we use both at same time would be good idea, instead of pair one of them with Castoria. It's just Castoria offer more defensive value + debuff removal while np gain could speed up np cycle. Generally I still prefer Tamamo since she can shorten downtime into 1t only (imagine waiting for downtime in 2022) and my Lolinci is more NP oriented.

@@PlushieMistress I know a way! if you have a spare Google account, get a VPN then swap into that account in Play Store make sure the VPN is set to Japan then go to the book section try to buy a book, any book then select the Kombini option select a random store, put in a random JP post code press select and boom. it's set to Japan let the code expire you don't need it you can add any payment method and it will still allow you to stay in Japan When you buy SQ, turn on the VPN this is how I do it. It works with any payment method
It's not just FGO, Google play and other platforms have implemented region locks. You have to go into settings and change the region of your phone. Its a pain in the butt. There's some reddit post out there on the subject.
The problem is.. that extra how many second when you do proto Merlin NP is a total waste of time for farming loop. She's probably better as Castoria pair for CQ but then again Arts has never been short of good support and servant in the first place. She's basically just another "Luxury" option like Summer BB, Holmes or Himiko. Also arts crit has always been in the sad place since forever... not even many addition of broken crit support like Hans, Lanling Wang, Holmes, Jinako or Chiron managed to kick start Arts crit. I know because I've been trying. It's so sad that even after you managed to make a full team wide nearly 150% crit buff with automatic 35 stars per turn on top of massive atk and Arts buff you somehow still weaker than slapdash servant with single crit support like Buster Himiko or Foreigners Gogh team... or just Double Tamago Buster loop crit team. There's a fundamental reason for that due to Arts inherent mechanics. To put it simply Arts team often relies on both NP and Skill while Quick and Buster often relies mainly on skills. e.g in double Skadi or Merlin team you can get by without ever using their NP. But any meta arts team heavily relies on NP loop and skill uptime. This means less face cards, less brave chain, and more Arts chain.
Your NP didn't kill and left some hp to the enemy? No worries, go merlin and do a buster crit. No buster card, you say? Go summerlin and do an arts crit. Pretty much sums up the thingy.

Tamamo + Ryouma + ProtoMerlin is insane. Def ups on Tama and Ryouma guarantee ProtoMerlin is the only one that can die, and so you can easily have another support like Reines/Castoria in the back.
Its quite a shame that she is another art team. I really hoping proto merlin would raise quick team once again. Moreover she is a crit buff that make her even more perfect if she is quick buffer.
The best word to describe her is redundant. Arts certainly don't need a merlin like support. Tamamo already exists if you want to run an arts stall team. Is she good? Definitely. Is she needed? Not really.
Honesty, before the drop of Koyan and Oberon, I figured if Proto Merlin came to Mobile, she’d either be the rebirth of Buster, or a new Savior for Quick while having a kit more akin to a looper, like Castoria or Skadi. I never really considered Arts considering how well off Arts was, and, some might say, still is, but I’m not exactly complaining now that she’s an Arts support. I honestly just wanted her in the game, so she could’ve been an exact clone of Merlin, and still Buster, for all I cared. I’ll roll regardless (Her being a Pretender was certainly something I didn’t expect, though).

Quick Is selfish as skadi won't work with another support as If ruler skadi is a quick support then skadi will be replaced. Buster meanwhile they don't ever work together. Oberon and Merlin hate each other and vitch has no survival making her an easy target and bad in stall. Arts has Nero bride who can eps or sub dps. Tamamo with charge drain for amakusa like bosses. Castoria for anti inval and loops. And now Merlin Mari for crit support damage which only helps the team even more. Xu Fu is free and a stop buff remove unit. They all have uses and fgo is working great on making them all useful Arts is a group of friends who like each other. Buster they deal with one another and quick is alone.

Buster comps you can Morgan castoria Merlin and arts can now arts dps proto Merlin castoria for big shields and refund without sacrifices to damage. And then mix and match depending on cq.

Merlin literally gives the same amount as an np1 proto Merlin so running her over the original is much better in a pure arts set up

I would wait till we see the rest of the skills for the next couple banners, I have a feeling Skadi might end up being pretty strong.
Rolling for unnecessary np5 of another character over a singular copy of a character who still supports extremely well is weird but again fgo is a personal experience. It's not like not rolling Merlin will never allow you to clear the game it's just a weird justification you have.

I think she's supposed to be an arts version of OG Merlin
For someone who already have Castoria & Tamamo, I don't think she is worth to roll (unless she is your top waifu).
Because we can just borrow one from friend list.
The only reason you need to get her (gameplay wise) is to make double S. Merlin setup which I don't think necessary because art has Tamamo/Castoria to be paired with her.
And for NP oriented art dps, Tamamo is better. While for crit art, Merlin is. Especially considering her crit buff only last 1t and RNG could mistiming it. Maybe the exception in scenario with event bonus dmg where every crit of your dps would have high value.
Idk if we use both at same time would be good idea, instead of pair one of them with Castoria. It's just Castoria offer more defensive value + debuff removal while np gain could speed up np cycle.
Generally I still prefer Tamamo since she can shorten downtime into 1t only (imagine waiting for downtime in 2022) and my Lolinci is more NP oriented.

This is a recent problem, so far ive heard using a japanese google play account works. I personally use a japanese ios acc and buy giftcards.

make sure the VPN is set to Japan
then go to the book section
try to buy a book, any book
then select the Kombini option
select a random store, put in a random JP post code
press select and boom. it's set to Japan
let the code expire you don't need it
you can add any payment method and it will still allow you to stay in Japan
When you buy SQ, turn on the VPN
this is how I do it. It works with any payment method

It's not just FGO, Google play and other platforms have implemented region locks. You have to go into settings and change the region of your phone. Its a pain in the butt. There's some reddit post out there on the subject.
i need a CE "proc" support servant it would give me a reason to mix and match CE's. the level of the CE/NP would affect how good the boost is.

The problem is.. that extra how many second when you do proto Merlin NP is a total waste of time for farming loop.
She's probably better as Castoria pair for CQ but then again Arts has never been short of good support and servant in the first place. She's basically just another "Luxury" option like Summer BB, Holmes or Himiko.
Also arts crit has always been in the sad place since forever... not even many addition of broken crit support like Hans, Lanling Wang, Holmes, Jinako or Chiron managed to kick start Arts crit. I know because I've been trying.
It's so sad that even after you managed to make a full team wide nearly 150% crit buff with automatic 35 stars per turn on top of massive atk and Arts buff you somehow still weaker than slapdash servant with single crit support like Buster Himiko or Foreigners Gogh team... or just Double Tamago Buster loop crit team.
There's a fundamental reason for that due to Arts inherent mechanics. To put it simply Arts team often relies on both NP and Skill while Quick and Buster often relies mainly on skills. e.g in double Skadi or Merlin team you can get by without ever using their NP. But any meta arts team heavily relies on NP loop and skill uptime. This means less face cards, less brave chain, and more Arts chain.
Imo, with how busted arts is, I see this as a minor issue that can get fixed later.

I used her along with Castoria,idk, there's not really a problem in looping (except for some servant have a little lower NP gain)
Here's some funny complains I see from fgo fanboys about our new servants;
Arcueid: she's breaking the meta, she's powerful and that's bad, Takeuchi draw her hair pose differently and that's terrible
Summer Merlin: "nobody wants her" even though everyone is malding over her existence, she's bad, she's stupid

Tamamo + Ryouma + ProtoMerlin is insane. Def ups on Tama and Ryouma guarantee ProtoMerlin is the only one that can die, and so you can easily have another support like Reines/Castoria in the back.

Damage wise, she's definitely better than Castoria.
The best word to describe her is redundant. Arts certainly don't need a merlin like support. Tamamo already exists if you want to run an arts stall team. Is she good? Definitely. Is she needed? Not really.
Arts does need a crit support tho, its only one turn which is a shame however

Honesty, before the drop of Koyan and Oberon, I figured if Proto Merlin came to Mobile, she’d either be the rebirth of Buster, or a new Savior for Quick while having a kit more akin to a looper, like Castoria or Skadi. I never really considered Arts considering how well off Arts was, and, some might say, still is, but I’m not exactly complaining now that she’s an Arts support. I honestly just wanted her in the game, so she could’ve been an exact clone of Merlin, and still Buster, for all I cared. I’ll roll regardless (Her being a Pretender was certainly something I didn’t expect, though).

I have already given up on the community actually valuing each unit for the new Shiny one since we can theoretically farm anything with a Junao and double koyan . Meta all you like but this comp is the answer to anything and so instead of talking efficiency why not talk about how fun a servant is to use

Buster meanwhile they don't ever work together. Oberon and Merlin hate each other and vitch has no survival making her an easy target and bad in stall.
Arts has Nero bride who can eps or sub dps. Tamamo with charge drain for amakusa like bosses. Castoria for anti inval and loops. And now Merlin Mari for crit support damage which only helps the team even more. Xu Fu is free and a stop buff remove unit. They all have uses and fgo is working great on making them all useful
Arts is a group of friends who like each other. Buster they deal with one another and quick is alone.

Buster comps you can Morgan castoria Merlin and arts can now arts dps proto Merlin castoria for big shields and refund without sacrifices to damage. And then mix and match depending on cq.
