I actually have trans friends and none of them talk about gender or anything relating to sex ANYWHERE NEAR the degree Matt Walsh does on a daily basis.
Oh, Matt Walsh definitely has a lot of insecurities about his masculinity. Look at that beard. That's the beard of a person who needs to be reassured of their manhood constantly. But to be fair, he also has to hide his "chin."

It really is amazing how easily and confidently Peterson lies. Ken Zucker's treatment recommendation was not "leave them (children) the hell alone until they are 18." It was: Methodically emotionally torture your child until they told you they were their birth sex. No, literally. I know. Because I read his work. It had such wonderful treatment plans as: For males - Discourage and deny all attempts at expressing feminine behaviors and mannerisms. - Remove all feminine oriented toys, colours, clothing, and accessories. Prevent the male child from accessing these outside of the home. - Disallow cross sex friendships. - Disallow cross sex hobbies. - Discourage male children from colouring or drawing female subjects. If this cannot be discouraged, do not allow the child access to drawing material. - Actively remind child of their birth sex. Require the male child to recite their birth sex to you. - While outside of the home, remind child of their birth sex and actively identify objects and activities which they are and are not allowed to engage in/with. The list goes on but you can get the point. And, for the record, Zucker didn't disprove shit. There was a court settlement over published defamatory remarks because one of his patients (who, surprise surprise turned out the still end up being transgender) claimed he had called them "a hairy little vermin" and the patient later retracted that statement. That was it. One quote in a 30 page report regarding his practice.

Important to point out, the study they talk about at the end there did not actually study gender dysphoria or body dysmorphia (which they also deliberately use interchangably btw, despite being VERY different things) and it did not find that if kids are left alone they just turn out gay. This study actually studied kids with ANY KIND of gender non-conforming behavior and at no point followed trans-diagnosis guidelines even from at the time, and then just assumed that any kid with some form of gender non-conformity must be identifying as trans. Obviously, it turned out most of the kids actually were just regular kids experimenting with how they wanna express themselfes in society, and I don't believe even a majority of them turned out gay, most were just straight. HOWEVER a really funny thing this study DID find is that, if you reexamine the subjects and check their behavior back with modern understandings of transness, those who expressed genuine trans identities as kids actually DID remain trans all throughout the study. It's a study commonly used by transphobes to try and delegitimize trans people, even though it's methodology was comically incompetent, even for the time, and it reinformed the legitimacy of trans identities when the data is applied to modern science. The way they refer to gender dysphoria as gender dysmorphia, and then slowly transition into just saying body dysmorphia, is also a deliberate tactic to try and conflate the 2 diagnoses, obviously to try and frame trans people as delusional. It's important however to remember that a dysphoria and a dysmorphia are RADICALLY different conditions that have practically opposite symptoms and very well established and very different treatment methods.
I'm not sure what study JP was lying about here specifically, but all of the studies on this topic that I have seen align perfectly with what you said. I'd also want to add that these exact same studies are literally used in the guidelines of organizations like the Endocrine Society to support the exact opposite of what JP is implying because of those findings like how you can predict the persistence of gender dysphoria symptoms based on their early intensity and whether or not they started diminishing after the onset of puberty. The real persistence issue is how this lie of theirs has persisted for over a decade despite being so obviously untrue.
And that constantly gaslights He also minored in liberal arts, and majored in social sciences Those phone it in qualifications all these Jesuit Agent Provocateurs get
To clarify, since I’ve had both at different times: dysmorphia is a fear-driven addiction to scrutinizing and changing a very particular aspect of one’s appearance. Like any addiction/ OCD spectrum disorder, no amount of indulging its demands can ever be enough. It is based in loops of emotionally charged conscious thought and somehow finds its way to the center of absolutely everything you think about. Dysphoria is the primal, intuitive, yucky “off” sensation and bizarre distortion of your whole emotional range that you get when your hormones are out of whack (like how pregnancy, birth control pills, or certain times of month just really don’t agree with some people). The thought that it could be a body-related problem rarely even occurs to you first thing and it takes either really good intuition or careful self-monitoring plus life experience to see for what it is.
I know! He thinks he is so smart but his arguments are swiss cheese. I’d ask him why he thinks the reality of “sexual proclivities” is still denied by many conservatives if he personally seems to know that homosexuality and sexual orientations are real, and why the matter of trans people is any different, but I don’t care to know his contorted thinking or how he might express it, with a sort of misplaced gravitas.
@@davidg11235 you say his arguments are swiss chess, but your side's arguments are literally self-contradictory and make no sense with any amount of logical thinking. If you'd like, we can hold a debate somewhere of your choice and I will logically break down every single one of your arguments.

Boby dysmorphia and gender dysphoria are not the same thing. Boby dysmorphia: A mental illness involving obsessive focus on a perceived flaw in appearance. The flaw may be minor or imagined. But the person may spend hours a day trying to fix it. The person may try many cosmetic procedures or exercise to excess. People with this disorder may frequently examine their appearance in a mirror, constantly compare their appearance with that of others, and avoid social situations or photos. Treatment may include counseling and antidepressant medication. Gender dysphoria: Gender dysphoria is a term that describes a sense of unease that a person may have because of a mismatch between their biological sex and their gender identity. This sense of unease or dissatisfaction may be so intense it can lead to depression and anxiety and have a harmful impact on daily life.
All transgender people experience body dysmorphia, so you can use them interchangeably when discussing that topic. When discussing anorexia, body dysmorphia presents itself differently. Edit: I shouldn’t have said all transgender people experience body dysmorphia. When discussing trans people who choose to take hormones or get surgeries, the term body dysmorphia may be applicable. However, not all trans people have body dysmorphia, and not all trans people take hormones or get surgeries.
@@michaelmonaghan1124 Dysphoria is not a subcategory of dysmorphia. Body dysmorphic disorder stems from an unrealistic conception of how other people view one's body, like an anorexic person who is already rail thin believing that they still look fat. Gender dysphoria on the other hand stems from an acutely realistic awareness of one's body and how other people view it in regards to gendered categories. For example, a trans man who still presents as feminine would be correct in thinking that society still sees a woman when they look at him. It is possible for individuals to have both gender dysphoria and body dysmorphia, and for them to mistake one for the other if they lack the information to tell the difference, but the two conditions are not considered the same under the DSM-5.
@@FrozEnbyWolf150 You’re right. Dysphoria is not a subcategory of dysmorphia. Dysmorphia is a logical side effect of dysphoria, just like depression is a logical side effect of terminal cancer.

What I want to know is, to what extent will this pairing pay attention to the poverty that plagues the lives of these children that they want to protect?
The right think people in poverty deserve their suffering. In their view the rich are our superhuman betters and the rest of us are some combination of lazy and dumb.
Nobody noticed that Peterson substituted body dysmorphia for gender dysphoria. Furthermore Peterson declared that he supports ending adult transitions later in the video. Peterson would restrict doctors legally from administering HRT and doing surgeries. That should have been the main focus of this counter-video as this proves it was never about the kids. Sam needs to take Peterson seriously and not do the imitation of him. This is serious as I predict by 2025 most adults in the US will lose their ability to get cross hormones legally. We have to have a counter argument better than this or else we will lose our rights. This is more than censorship and banning books in schools; this is banning healthcare. I'm very disappointed Sam and Emma.

@@michaelmonaghan1124 no not at all. they’re two completely separate conditions, with two completely different underlying causes and symptoms. gender dysphoria has to do with distressed caused by gender incongruence. that one generally pops up because the person is trans (which relates to neurotype) but would also apply to cis people who have cross sex characteristics they don’t like (think dudes with gynecomastia who hate their man boobs) body dysmorphia has to do with a false self perception and an obsession over perceived flaws. it’s more of an anxiety disorder brought on by environmental and psychological factors. your biology may make you high risk, but you aren’t born that way.

@12:15 - It is worth noting here that Zucker did NOT in fact "leave kids the hell alone until they are 18" but actively engaged in trying to suppress the non-conforming gender expressions of his patients and actively encouraged parents of these kids to enforce strict gender-based rules in the home and authoritatively punish "bad" behaviour and reward "good" behaviour. Now, this might very well be "old school clinical psychiatry". Let us recall that homosexual behaviour was "treated" with among other horrors "aversion therapy", that is, showing a gay person arousing material while injecting them with medication to make them violently ill, or using electric shocks to induce discomfort. And let us also remember that conversion "therapy" is still widely practiced and encouraged in many conservative circles in the US and probably in other Western countries as well. Almost always outside of publicly funded healthcare systems, because this kind of practice has been proved, unequivocally, firstly, not to be effective in its goals, and secondly, to actively harm those who have been subjected to it. According to one study (Blosnich et al., 2020, in the American Journal of Public Health) suicidal ideation was almost twice as common in non-transgender persons who had undergone this kind of treatment, and another study (Turban et al., 2020, Journal of the American Medical Association Psychiatry) found a significant association between psychological distress, suicidal ideation and conversion "therapy" in trans people. The reason Zucker's clinic was disbanded and severed from the Canadian universal healthcare coverage was that the health authority deemed his methods as close to conversion "therapy" as makes no difference and that this kind of therapy had recently been outlawed outright in Canada. But the thing about all this is that Walsh and Peterson DO NOT FUCKING CARE. To them, all the science and all the activism is just neo-marxist postmodernism or whatever the fuck they want to call it. To them, trans people will never be valid, never be an acceptable part of society, whatever scientists, activists or politicians say or do. I have never heard "dismorphia" used in place of disphoria the way JP is using it here. Even after googling I couldn't find "dismorphia" used in place of gender disphoria. People who incorrectly percieve their bodies in a way that negatively impacts them can be described as having body dismorphia (e.g., anorexia, or my skinny biceps that I keep covered). Body parts under developed from birth may be clinically described as physically dismorphic. JP was so successful at helping us understand that "true" can only mean 80s pop psychology adaptive that I'm sure he can enlighten us all on dismorphia.
Sounds like dysmorphia is exactly the correct term for what Peterson is describing, then. As far as 80s pop psychology, Peterson is among the most well-credentialed psychologists alive. I realize Sam was just repeating the word that Peterson used, but dysmorphia is an abnormality in a body part. The feeling that some body part is incongruous with how the person sees themselves is dysphoria, not dysmorphia. Body dysmorphic disorder is when a person perceives some flaw or imperfection as being a massively bigger issue than it is, or when a person perceives a flaw that isn't actually there. Maybe someone has a tiny mole, but they see it as a huge deformity and think that it's all anyone sees when they look at them. It is a type of delusional thinking. This is very different from dysphoria, which is when a person perceives their body accurately the way it is, but that way is incongruous with how they identify internally. Gender dysphoria, for example, is when someone whose outward apparent gender does not match their internal gender identity. People with dysphoria are not suffering from delusions. Peterson is characterizing this as dysmorphia very intentionally because he wants to portray trans people as delusional. Please stop copying his terminology.
There is no "outward apparent gender." I think you are talking about a person's sex. But "witch" is also a gender, and someone could dress as a witch (outward appearance) and not be a witch.
@@aheroictaxidriver3180 The sex a person appears to be _is_ their apparent gender. You're saying the same thing. I don't know what you're saying about witches. "Witch" isn't a gender. Dressing up isn't a gender. You are clearly not well in the head.

Criticism always has to come from some abstract entity, like media matters, to these guys. It like they can’t accept that just a guy can independently think he’s wrong all by themselves.
Every person, cis or trans, has an interest in gender affirming treatments. Who was hormone therapy and gender affirming surgery invented for? Cis people. Cis people have gender affirming hormonal and surgical treatments because they feel like a gender inside, and want to affirm it and function as in in the world. Like trans people. I'm trans, and have had severe gender dysphoria. So severe that I for a period stopped leaving the house, showered rarely, and cried myself to sleep multiple nights a week. I felt like I had a disease, or that my body had alien outgrowths. I couldn't at all identify with my own body. Since childhood I had anticipated a male puberty, but what I got instead, a female puberty, felt like a living hell. I can only liken it to seeing your body slowly be destroyed by some alien disease that gives you bizzare outgrowths, or something. When I looked down, I could only think "this can't be me, this can't be my body, this isn't me." In other words my body violated everything I had persistently felt I was since childhood. When I transitioned at the age of 20-25, I started testosterone treatment, and my confidence SKYROCKETED in a few months. I went from social isolation to speaking confidently to strangers and starting school. It felt so extremely relieving. Then I had all the avaliable surgeries (free healthcare here in norway) and since then I almost never feel gender dysphoria anymore. I'm happy with my body, at least to a normal degree. I have a few insecurities like most people about what shape I am in and those kinds of things, but they are normal and minor and don't impact my life or mental health. I wanted a normal male body, I got it, and now I'm secure and flourishing as a person. Even lost my virginity to my first ever girlfriend, something I thought would never happen to me pre-transition. It was thanks to my medical transition I could even ever experience being naked with someone and feeling okay. Body dysmorphia doesn't work like that. People with body dysmorphia obsess over a percieved physical flaw, like their figure, weight, jaw. If these people alter their bodies to align with their idea of "ideal" they won't get alliviation. They will STILL see the flaw. It's an obsessive psychological disorder that consumes a persons life and can't be physically fixed. These people only really benefit from therapy where they can develop more healthy expectations of their bodies. Gender dysphoria CAN effectively be alliviated long term, though, without therapy. It was for me, and thousands of others. It is now 7 years since I started transition, and I feel fantastic still. In fact, my life keeps getting better the more emotional distance I get from the whole ordeal of having dysphoria and being scared shitless about the social stigma and lack of support I would risk facing if I ever told someone I actually felt like a man and couldn't live as a woman. Luckily what I found was support and acceptence, thanks to decades of dedicated activism, which UNDOUBTEDLY SAVED MY LIFE. I don't know why people become trans. In fact nobody does, not even the therapists I met at the only expert clinic in norway for gender incongruency. But what we DO know, is that what helps trans people live, and live happily and healthy for the rest of their lives, is free access to gender affirming treatment, and a lot of social support and affirmation. What kills trans people is social stigma and lack of access to medical transition - what Peterson and Walsh wants.

Ken Zucker's treatment recommendation was not "leave them (children) the hell alone until they are 18." It was: Methodically emotionally torture your child until they told you they were their birth sex.
No, literally. I know. Because I read his work. It had such wonderful treatment plans as:
For males
- Discourage and deny all attempts at expressing feminine behaviors and mannerisms.

Sounds like you're a better psychologist than "Doctor" Peterson.
For example, a trans man who still presents as feminine would be correct in thinking that society still sees a woman when they look at him.
To them, the "eradication of trans ideology" is the eradication of trans people in society. And even if they won't hold the gun themselves (because they're too craven even to admit to their actual point of view), they sure as hell don't care one bit if mass suicide is the means to their end.

When I looked down, I could only think "this can't be me, this can't be my body, this isn't me."
In other words my body violated everything I had persistently felt I was since childhood.
You felt that way since childhood??? That’s crazy!! Must’ve seen one too many rainbows 😂
You just discredited yourself by using the "c-word".
It's not a thing.
Quit making words up and come back to reality.
@@frontenac5083 you reactionary slugs wouldn't know reality if it beat you over the head with a meta-study.
