It has to go through the court system to be considered copyright infringement. Companies do this because it's easier to frighten people into complying with a takedown notice rather than going to court. But the sad truth is that if it does go to court, they can just keep it tied up while the little people quickly run out of finances. It's always all about the money.

It is heartbreaking and harsh, intimidating, and difficult to understand this type of letter. As therapists with altruistic motivation, it can be confounding to sort out how a body of knowledge can be commercialized, owned, and rule-governed for trade purposes. The definition of "copyrights" versus the "fair use" definition when the material IS copyrighted will require the assistance of at least 3 attorneys on your behalf, each having their own niche of experience, understanding, and perspectives of applicability to this situation. Please don't feel it is any failure on your part, we are all learning in this life, and it is complex society to navigate daily. Law is all around us as professionals in every context, even as educators. So, I hope to uplift you and help you to not take it as too personal, though your effort is of personal importance, but part of having to live in a litigious society. You will emerge from this as more informed, sharper, clearer, and more motivated, and refining your direction to be individually yours! Two ideas: 1) put a disclaimer at start of each video that you are not attempting to simulate or share exam internal knowledge, and 2) refine your content away from NBCOT and make it more about your personal practice, insights, experiences, research, areas of interest, etc. Just my two cents. Yes, my dad told me I should be a lawyer since I was 10 years old, my sister and other family members are, Haha! My passions are people, movement, and helping, so I hope you can see where I am coming from ;) All the best, never give up your internal motivation, rather refine and re-imagine and re-create around any obstacles, this is life.

Most people fail this exam on multiple times, many don’t even end up passing the exam. This is what this company wants you to fail so they can receive more money from you.

Hi Miri. This is so disheartening. I have long admired the content you provide. It is shameful that NBCOT is approaching you in this manner. I am sure that your videos are cutting into their bottom line by: 1. Helping future OT's pass the exam on their first try. 2. Providing a truly free study guide as opposed to the expensive study guides they sell. My advice, don't dispose of your videos. Make them private until you get legal advice. Do not let them make you waiver in something that you do so well. I support you 100% and I am sure that any student or OT that has seen your work feels the same.

This INFURIATES me!! WHOOOOO had the audacity to write you that letter???? YOU were one of the reasons I passed my test! And yes, it took me two attempts, and YOU and YOUR VIDEOS helped me to get the confidence and mindset back that I WAS CAPABLE AND COULD PASS!! I will never, ever forget the abilities of all of the spinal cord injuries because of you, and I will forever have a mental picture in my mind of Winnie the Pooh, The Little Mermaid pushing up on the rock, Superman, and Snow White taking a bite out of her apple! I also will never forget that kids show interest in scissors around 2-3 y/o because that is how long you keep your bangs (2-3 inches) LOL! Miri, YOU are an inspiration, a gift, and a treasure to the OT world, and we are ALL so grateful for your contributions! Not only for your selfless efforts to help people for FREE, but your kind heart and ability to connect with so many via the internet with the only reward to yourself as THEIR success. Shame on the NBCOT, or lawyers, or the individual(s) who started this legal suit against you! SHAME!! You have done nothing but help our OT community in a selfless and continuing manner... and all for FREE. I was so looking forward to your videos. Ive already passed NBCOT for COTA , Im just enough of a nerd with a strong auditory learning preference that I like to enhance my learning on certain topics because OT is such a broad field. NBCOT has me baffled on this decision.

Miri, Friday I found out I passed the exam with a 523. You made that possible not only through your content but, largely through your story and your encouragement. OT is my second career, i’m older, worked full time through my program, had anxiety and health situations that made certification seem impossible (and some days even worthless), once I finished fieldwork I sold everything I had that wasn’t absolutely necessary to pay my exam fee. Plasma, shoes, textbooks (catch 22 there), clothes, desk... Thank you for believing I could do this. Thank you for not asking me to skip meals or medications to afford it. Thank you for being transparent. Thank you for giving your time, energy and effort. If you’re ever in Vermont or Indiana look me up. ❤️

OT Miri helped me passed my exam 2 weeks after graduation, which is new-grad suicide (I wasnt a model student) , but her content was effective and empowering that it gave me and thousands of others that much confidence. Seeing an influential asian figure on TH-cam, who's respected by all kinds of people from around the world, was a breath of fresh air. Not to mention, her leaving is a blow to occupational therapy community everywhere. She continues to need support to defend her rights on social media and the rights of students to have access to additional learning materials on the web. I'm proud of OT miri and her choices, it empowers women and breaks the barriers of stereotyping. As an asian woman, there had been countless times when I worked hard at something I believed in and thought I was doing great because of the clear results, but was met with disapproval from an authority, and even after complying, I was given lesser opportunities that I was told I should be grateful for. It's a phenomenon that's been overwhelming the asian community, and if I could help put a stop to that cycle, I will. I invite anyone with similar values to support this amazing woman especially for all that she's done with genuine intention and to the great of her abilities.

Thank you for everything! When I graduated and was feeling overwhelmed preparing for the exam, your videos really helped re-center me and focus my efforts where needed. And yes I passed. With your contributions for the betterment of our profession, nbcot gained another practitioner. They should be thanking you!!
I would not pull the videos, if anything make them all private till you sort this out. I don’t think they can legally enforce this.
It is heartbreaking and harsh, intimidating, and difficult to understand this type of letter. As therapists with altruistic motivation, it can be confounding to sort out how a body of knowledge can be commercialized, owned, and rule-governed for trade purposes. The definition of "copyrights" versus the "fair use" definition when the material IS copyrighted will require the assistance of at least 3 attorneys on your behalf, each having their own niche of experience, understanding, and perspectives of applicability to this situation. Please don't feel it is any failure on your part, we are all learning in this life, and it is complex society to navigate daily. Law is all around us as professionals in every context, even as educators. So, I hope to uplift you and help you to not take it as too personal, though your effort is of personal importance, but part of having to live in a litigious society. You will emerge from this as more informed, sharper, clearer, and more motivated, and refining your direction to be individually yours! Two ideas: 1) put a disclaimer at start of each video that you are not attempting to simulate or share exam internal knowledge, and 2) refine your content away from NBCOT and make it more about your personal practice, insights, experiences, research, areas of interest, etc. Just my two cents. Yes, my dad told me I should be a lawyer since I was 10 years old, my sister and other family members are, Haha! My passions are people, movement, and helping, so I hope you can see where I am coming from ;) All the best, never give up your internal motivation, rather refine and re-imagine and re-create around any obstacles, this is life.

Most people fail this exam on multiple times, many don’t even end up passing the exam. This is what this company wants you to fail so they can receive more money from you.

Do not be discouraged! I passed my boards and could pull your Allen Cognitive Level chart from visual memory. This is a speed bump to get on the highway to your dreams. We believe in you and what you stand for. Flexibility is one of our greatest strengths. I know you'll find a way. 😀

I too am baffled that you received this letter. I am currently an OT student in my first term and have found your videos very helpful. I was looking forward to utilizing your wonderful resources along the way and I'm just in shock that you are having to go through this whole legal process right now. Even though I don't have much money at this time I want to give what I can because I really believe in your initiative to make knowledge accessible to all.
NBCOT is just mad because people aren't paying for their overpriced content. There is a way to resurrect your website and videos! Don't Despair! You will find a way. Maybe instead of saying NBCOT you can say the OT National Boards or something of that nature. I look forward to seeing your smiling face again soon!

Hi Miri. This is so disheartening. I have long admired the content you provide. It is shameful that NBCOT is approaching you in this manner. I am sure that your videos are cutting into their bottom line by:
1. Helping future OT's pass the exam on their first try.
2. Providing a truly free study guide as opposed to the expensive study guides they sell.
My advice, don't dispose of your videos. Make them private until you get legal advice. Do not let them make you waiver in something that you do so well. I support you 100% and I am sure that any student or OT that has seen your work feels the same.
They can't be serious.... I'm in total shock. I'm so sorry this happened to you. They are just upset that your videos do a better job at breaking topics down and actually teaching us and preparing us for the exam than their content that we have to pay for. This INFURIATES me!! WHOOOOO had the audacity to write you that letter???? YOU were one of the reasons I passed my test! And yes, it took me two attempts, and YOU and YOUR VIDEOS helped me to get the confidence and mindset back that I WAS CAPABLE AND COULD PASS!! I will never, ever forget the abilities of all of the spinal cord injuries because of you, and I will forever have a mental picture in my mind of Winnie the Pooh, The Little Mermaid pushing up on the rock, Superman, and Snow White taking a bite out of her apple! I also will never forget that kids show interest in scissors around 2-3 y/o because that is how long you keep your bangs (2-3 inches) LOL! Miri, YOU are an inspiration, a gift, and a treasure to the OT world, and we are ALL so grateful for your contributions! Not only for your selfless efforts to help people for FREE, but your kind heart and ability to connect with so many via the internet with the only reward to yourself as THEIR success. Shame on the NBCOT, or lawyers, or the individual(s) who started this legal suit against you! SHAME!! You have done nothing but help our OT community in a selfless and continuing manner... and all for FREE. I'm sure there will be enough comments and responses from the public to help you out to show how angered we all are because of this and how you were forced to remove all of your content. Just remember, WE ALL LOVE YOU AND ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT!! You are a huuuuge reason why I was able to pass my exam on my second try, and I know without a doubt that you were one of the reasons for so many others. If I were you, I would hire a lawyer too and settle this thing. You are so passionate about your profession. NBCOT should be proud to have you as a team and provide the content to help students. Is it their business that student fail and pay more than once? Shame on them!

I was so looking forward to your videos. Ive already passed NBCOT for COTA , Im just enough of a nerd with a strong auditory learning preference that I like to enhance my learning on certain topics because OT is such a broad field. NBCOT has me baffled on this decision.

I am no where done with my studying but I would always watch your videos to break up information because sometimes in class I completely don't understand. Friday I found out I passed the exam with a 523.
You made that possible not only through your content but, largely through your story and your encouragement. OT is my second career, i’m older, worked full time through my program, had anxiety and health situations that made certification seem impossible (and some days even worthless), once I finished fieldwork I sold everything I had that wasn’t absolutely necessary to pay my exam fee. Plasma, shoes, textbooks (catch 22 there), clothes, desk...
Thank you for believing I could do this.

OT Miri helped me passed my exam 2 weeks after graduation, which is new-grad suicide (I wasnt a model student) , but her content was effective and empowering that it gave me and thousands of others that much confidence. Seeing an influential asian figure on TH-cam, who's respected by all kinds of people from around the world, was a breath of fresh air. Not to mention, her leaving is a blow to occupational therapy community everywhere. She continues to need support to defend her rights on social media and the rights of students to have access to additional learning materials on the web. I'm proud of OT miri and her choices, it empowers women and breaks the barriers of stereotyping. As an asian woman, there had been countless times when I worked hard at something I believed in and thought I was doing great because of the clear results, but was met with disapproval from an authority, and even after complying, I was given lesser opportunities that I was told I should be grateful for. It's a phenomenon that's been overwhelming the asian community, and if I could help put a stop to that cycle, I will. I invite anyone with similar values to support this amazing woman especially for all that she's done with genuine intention and to the great of her abilities.
