TheIronRelic but there is one counter to this, you need to get the shell smash (i use this set cause am evil) almost everytime, it gets OHKO'ed, a focus sash saves it so much

How would a Azumarril fair against a +2 icicle spear? Can he counter cloyster with superpower, or aqua jet providing he has been down to his sash before a shell smash?

Where do I use this program?
an unaware clefable does great against cloyster, especially if it's in a double battle: negates the stat boosts and if it knows charge beam, it can clean up after its partner weakens it
what about the douchie king rock set?

I would definatly run hydro pump on cloyster instead of ice shard, once you have smashed your shell you imileadiatly get +2 speed plus the 252 speed you put on it, also it gives more coverage to steal types with stab
I am personally a fan of running a kings rock on this guy.
I run King's Rock on my competitive Cinccino. She gets a 10% chance to flinch per 5-hit move w/Skill Link and her base 115 speed is no joke. Also, Wide Lens to guarantee accurate hits with rock blast and push tail slap up to 95%. Wide Lens is also a decent item for Cloyster if focus sash shenanigans aren't helping.
I don't know about ice shard but i usually go with protect in case a pokemon use fake out.
You need ice shard on cloyester and I personally think adamant with full attack and about 150-180 speed and rest on def.

Give it a King's rock for a 10% flinch each shot, cause even with shell smash I've had pokemon live neutral damage a lot. This also helped me go from him being my last pokemon and coming back to destroy a full team, plus if it weren't for the king's rock i would've lost 9/10 times from my comebacks

This guy is pretty much the SOLE reason my Swampert carries Toxic. Very little damage from both Rock Blast and Icicle Spear and Toxic stall and Earthquake until its forced to switch out and ruin its Shell Smash
I have an idea. Instead of Ice Shard, what about protect?

Also watch out for Arcanine... Close Combat/flare blitz on turn one plus Extreme Speed and it won't be touched. =\ Best advice would be to jump into Rock Blast turn one without the shell smash.

I think Jolly nature is used to out speed choice scarf'd pokes
Cloyster should be "naive" nature, you should never limit him to all physical attacks because if he runs into registeel he's done or if he gets burned, give him hydro pump or surf I've swepted teams because they didn't expect the special attack, just give him maxed attack because icicle spear is his bread and butter, and just enough speed to out run jolly scarfed garchomp and put the rest in special attack, i chose "Naive" over "Naughty" because jolly garchomp out speeds him

Focus sash doesn't protect against a rock blast pokemon
Any multi hit move counters the effect of a focus sash
have a driftbloom baton pass a foucus energy onto a skill link cloyster with scope lens or razor claw.

i always use a king's rock with my cloyster. give's it a 50% chance of flinching every time it uses icicle spear/rock blast

what is the maximum times u can use shell smash
Duksing Chau 3 times (at least to max out your attack, sp attack, and speed, but using 3 times will lower your sp defense, and sp defense by 3...)
if you use it over 3 times then your basically lowering your sp defense and defense

+603juggalo1 I used Surf. Mixed attacker, just with a Naughty nature to have good SAtk, and his SDef is awful already so a hindering nature won't matter with a sash. :)
Peter Bode Shell Smash, Icicle Spear, Surf, Rock Blast. If you only go physical and they bring in a defense wall, you're screwed. And switching would waste any shell smashes or your focus sash. Plus the smash raises both offenses so... yeah. I honestly couldn't tell you how many times Surf has saved me in wifi battles when they bring in a defensive wall. But at the end of the day, it all comes down to personal opinion :)
+slug237711 surf is stab. But 252ev in atk makes surf useless for me. You can ice shard anything you want with priority +2 or something.. And the rest is hitting hard on everyone .. Rock blast works on grass and fire..
But as you said before, it's all about personal opinion ;)

I'm currently breeding Shellders (hatches egg 225 yesterday). And looking for an adamant or jolly natured Shellder with 5 or 6 iv (5 iv is good is SPatk is missing :P ).
The rest of all my shellders go to the wonder trade ^^
Btw, a good water move for Cloyster is Hydropump, Shellder learns that at lvl 61 :) But Hydropump and Surf are equaly good in my opinion.. the accuracy is balanced out by the power difference.
I tried a Shell Smash Cloyster but it sucks.
It gets fainted at every special attack and that huge Defense is useless with those low HP. And don't think that Icicle Spear will OHKO everyone.
It doesn't matter if you run a Jolly or an Adamant Cloyster, he has no chance of sweeping. But it can work with Physical Dragon-types. That's my opinion, I hope you'll be better than me in using Cloyster ^^
i have sweept alot of teams with cloyster. Is no garchomp or Lucario, but still pretty good:)
Ok, I respect your opinion, Cloyster is not THAT BAD. But in today's Metagame 45 base SpD is unacceptable. You MUST give it Focus Sash for Shell Smashing and you have to switch when being threatened by a priority move.

they use pokemon showdown and theres no way 2 transfur it 2 pokemon bank ur gunna have 2 catch and train the pokemon in ur game

Burn and Poison would be dangerous if only they could touch him with that speed boost. I mean you could do it first turn but other than that its hard to get at him.
If you baton boosted into him on the right turn (when your opponent protected or something) he would be even more deadly.

Anyone who builds pokemon and doesnt do it all by yourself is so frusteating becauee nobody has timw to spend making perfect pokemon through breeding cause we have school and jobs and its so disharting to watch you people build unbeatable counter intuitive pokemon when I spend months building my teams the old fashion ways. So much hate towards you "cheaters" because baisically its what you all are doing
