"They don't rehearse it, or anything like that." My heart nearly stopped. As someone who is not good at sight reading, even just hearing that gives me anxiety.
Peter Jackson is the one that sets the overall tone of the production. He is obviously a great leader, story teller and someone who many creative “types” want to help him tell the story.
What amazing musicians must be hired for the orchestra recording work. Once its a 'recording' you can't play a single wrong note and its all sight-reading! Wow~!
As a guy who has had the pleasure to meet some of the staff , I can honestly say they are like family and it shows in the video. Kudos guys cant wait for the movie!
Please make sure mr Howard Shore composes more soundtracks in the upcoming Middle Earth movies also !! his music scores are SO good and makes the movies COMPLETE ! Thank you for great movies !
Also wanted to say "Peter Jackson you are the essence of a true Kiwi" Peter's laid back attitude, sense of humour and lack of arrogance is the mark of real talent and vision, the totally understated intelligence makes me proud to be a New Zealander.
Oh bless them. I tried to type the comment on my phone and I accidentally touched "send" like hundred times so just sayin'. Bless them. Howard Shore, Peter Jackson and Tolkien himself. This movie and all other stuff like Lord of the Rings and the books and the music just amazes me all over again and again.
I went to the Hobbit premiere in Wellington!!! It was awesome. Got photos of all the actors and they signed my copy of the Hobbit. So lucky. All really nice people. I’ll never forget Peter Jackson having 6 bodyguards and NZ prime minister 1 bodyguard
Thanks so much to Peter for making the blog of the making of "The Hobbit". I have enjoyed keeping up with this. Who knew how much it takes to make a movie. I was also wondering about the music. Glad to see that part this time.
Love these. Just shows the incredible amount of work that goes into EVERYTHING. Those credits are going to take a full 15 minutes to go by at the end of the movie.
I have to say, I know how hard is the process to do a film but after watching ALL these videos... this film is going to be EPIC. Thank you, Peter Jackson AND the ENTIRE PRODUCTION CREW, ACTORS, EVERYONE for making the film. Thank you so much!
listening to the orchestra at the end there and seeing the instruments makes me miss being in an orchestra. I love listening to the timpani and low brass such wonderful depth and rich dark tones. Oh i cant wait till i am well enough to go back I hate being sick
Much respect for the thousands of people putting in long & hard work & hours for our movie entertainment. It's incredible what goes into making a movie.
I am assuming that is the London Symphony Orchestra manning the instruments there. They are something of a legend in their level of musicianship. But even an Oscar winner will need blocking before starting to act. This seemed to imply they just looked at the music and played the piece perfectly first time! Tell me - are they human at all? I am in awe!
this is just great....!! I admire this people for working on this project....the scene when they "wake" up the animators :DD or peter tells every one is focused and such :DD marvelous...!!
And yes, I agree that "The Wicker Man" has clearly seared its imprint within the howling catacombs of cinema history and is clearly long overdue for retroactive Oscar recognition and spots in AFI and the Criterion Collection's top ten films of all time.
about sound: you still use warcraft 2 and HoMM 2/3 sounds xD its incredible, sound of opening door is like the same in all of films, must say it was the most artificial part of the hobbit (imo)
how stressful it might be, it also must be really fun to be on a set or somehow involved in a movie... everybody seems to be proud and happy :D Can't wait to go and watch the movie on sunday x3
My God, seriously.. Every time I lose motivation with my art and hobbies, I just watch "The making of.." videos like this. So awesome.

When the Orchestra started to play, it sends chills down my spine.
honnestly that is why i come to see this video from time to time, 🤣
"They don't rehearse it, or anything like that." My heart nearly stopped. As someone who is not good at sight reading, even just hearing that gives me anxiety.
The guys at 4:25 must have fun introducing themselves at parties. "So what is it you do?" I work at the Department of Internal Beard Hairs.
The best moment of the video.
I don’t understand what there doing
The soundtrack.... was done by sightreading. No rehearsals.
As a musician, I have never been so intimidated in my life.
the orchestra just shows up and plays. wtf?! that's incredible! :O

Peter Jackson is the one that sets the overall tone of the production. He is obviously a great leader, story teller and someone who many creative “types” want to help him tell the story.

Made me laugh
12:16 Tears
What amazing musicians must be hired for the orchestra recording work. Once its a 'recording' you can't play a single wrong note and its all sight-reading! Wow~!
I don't think it's all sight-read mate.. But they're amazing nonetheless
As a guy who has had the pleasure to meet some of the staff , I can honestly say they are like family and it shows in the video. Kudos guys cant wait for the movie!
That guy must know the matrix if he sips hes tea and watches the codes
Wow. All this tech, talent, and laid back organization is making me self-conscious.

Oh bless them. I tried to type the comment on my phone and I accidentally touched "send" like hundred times so just sayin'. Bless them. Howard Shore, Peter Jackson and Tolkien himself. I have to say, I know how hard is the process to do a film but after watching ALL these videos... this film is going to be EPIC. Thank you, Peter Jackson AND the ENTIRE PRODUCTION CREW, ACTORS, EVERYONE for making the film. Thank you so much!
honestly, the LotR and Hobbit crew seem to have the most fun on the job of anyone I've ever seen!!
listening to the orchestra at the end there and seeing the instruments makes me miss being in an orchestra. I love listening to the timpani and low brass such wonderful depth and rich dark tones. Oh i cant wait till i am well enough to go back I hate being sick
