Even though this video is a number of years old, it is something I listen to literally every day since I discovered it just recently. I have always been a huge fan of bossa nova and samba rhythms (especially the former). And I love the musical compositions of Antonio Carlos Jobim. I first became acquainted with bossa nova music as a boy. My parents had just bought a new home stereo system, which included an LP phonograph turntable, and it came with a selection of free records. One of those was by the Paul Winter Sextet, an instrumental group, playing bossa nova music. I was hooked and played it over and over. Fast forward to just two years ago, I attended a concert of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra which consisted of a Jobim tribute. I had never heard this style of music set to strings before, but it lends itself perfectly...and here it is again!

Tuve la oportunidad de conocer este teatro aunque solo fue por fuera y ahí me tome una foto durante un viaje relámpago que realice a Costa Rica en Octubre de 1999, conoci varias localidades y lugares como Heredia, el volcán irazu y otros mas . maneje algunos kilómetros por ahí y fuimos hasta Gua piles un lugar muy colorido del trópico etc.. Oh, what a treat! I love everything about this wonderful gem: the amazing orchestra, the beautiful Rose Max and her vocalizations, the filming & photography. This is in my playlist so I can quickly get to it. Only discovered this 3 weeks ago, am so grateful for the upload. Bossa Nova has resurfaced as my choice of music, especially these days, as it is happy/relaxing/uplifting and so many other emotions. There may not be a lot of people who know about Bossa Nova compared to other styles of music, but it will never die.
Michelle Dowdy bossa nova was crazy-popular in the mid-60s. Even as a kid back then I could hear it on pop radio with gazillions of people. What a joy!
I remember 'Easy Listening' stations, before Smooth Jazz, carried the ultra-cool sounds of Bossa Nova in the 60's, but usually without lyrics, just the melodies. How wonderful to hear the intact songs, with Portuguese lyrics!

Exquisita interpretación de esta música maravillosa del Brasil, el país mas musical del mundo según lo dijo el maestro Paul Mauriat, pero se me hace un nudo en la garganta al saber que son músicos costarricenses los que están interpretando, entre ellos el maestro de la percusión Carlomagno Araya y mi prima Enid Ulate en la flauta traversa.
