Leonardo da Vinci, Adoration of the Magi, 1481, oil on panel (Galleria degli Uffizi, Florence) smarthistory.khanacademy.org/l.... Created by Beth Harris and Steven Zucker.
Such a precious depiction of Jesus, with his little tufts of hair.. Leonardo's method was fascinating to hear about - he will form you in his art like you were formed in the womb, rather than drawing and first and final form. I didn't know artists drew / painted that way. Me three (for wanting to see the finished work), but it's honestly gorgeous and unique the way it is. :)
At the time this video was made, the work had not been restored. Much was illegible in the composition and difficult to experience. I don't think I was ever moved by it when in its presence. Not any more. Although clearly "unfinished" the restoration has made the work even more stupendous, opening a great door into the Great Mind that created this work.

Can you give a link to an image of the restored work?
that is the beauty of Leonardo..;what might have been. if only.
I think because it is unfinished it was makes it so interesting/beautiful.
The bloke on the far right is very intriguing....
One of the great shames of the world is that he never finished " Adoration of the magi". Why! Why!!
Why? He was offered a very good gig in Milan, and he decided to take it, rather than continue to work on it.
The Book of Picknett and Prince directed me here.
