    I am glad I have found this channel again after a very long time. 5:33 is that still on lucky craft 70DD? I also just bought lucky 100XD, what hook(tremble)/split ring would you recommend replacing? Their original gears seem weak.

    How deep is the water where the fish were? And how deep do your jerk baits run? I wonder if bass crankbaits would work? Some will run with the bill hitting the bottom, they might be awesome for flounder/fluke. I saw a couple videos of people using chatterbaits for flounder around marshes, they're very good for running through grass. That's probably a good idea for really dirty water, if the fish are there.

    Hello Rodger. I've always followed your advice on techniques and equipment and I am very satisfied. You helped me improve with my fishing techniques and approach ten folds! I always catch a legal size fluke on every outing. Thanks to you! Again, as per your recommendation, I just purchased the Daiwa Steez AGS 76MML from Tackle Trap. I thought my Tatula Elite Versalite was great, my new Daiwa Steez AGS 76MML is even more amazing! Eventhough I have not fished it yet, I can just feel the difference between the two rods. Would you recommend a 2500 or 3000 reel to match with the Steez? Can't wait to use this rod! Thanks for all your very valuable advice!

    • @CookingandFishing

      Very nice!!! I would recommend Shimano 2500 since you don't need more line capacity on a fluke reel. The new Twin Power FE 2500 is looking very nice, ofc the Stella FK 2500 is perfect too. I would suggest buying USDM for the warranty since you're using it in saltwater. You're going to love that rod!

    Awesome vid as usuall....Yours are exceptionaly informative as well. Thank You for Sharing. But, Man ur Brave throwing a 25+ dollar jerkbait off a dock . Usually lotsa trash n old lines. Finally mail ordered the correct jerk baits.....About what size Single hooks go on the Pointer 78 DD. Dont want to throw the plug off balance. Using the Gap...A 2/0 is close but the wire seems too heavy. Initially I will try it with just the tail treble. Never caught one on the jerk baits but most of the ones I have don't go deep enough.

    • @CookingandFishing

      Probably PE0.8, which in YGK Upgrade x8 is 16lb. 8lb suffix will probably be more like PE1, or 22lb YGK, maybe even thicker, but imo too thick.

    • @CookingandFishing

      Both stripers and weakfish and blues/puffers/robins anything that preys on baitfish will eat a jerkbait if you're working the right column. I suspect it will prove deadly on big weakfish if I ever run across a pod of them.

    Hi what are your thoughts on using snap swivels to quickly change jigheads and bucktails? Do you do this, or do you think it messes up presentation?

    • @CookingandFishing

      I use a snap/clip to hardbaits, never on jigs mainly bc I don't want to feel metal grating on metal when I'm jigging. Also 99% of the time I'm using the plain 1/4oz gammy ball head and there's no reason to swap.

    • @CookingandFishing

      I keep the connection knot outside the rod for the most part when it comes to fluke jigging, and I go about a full arms' span - roughly 6ft or so.

    • @frrok1

    Do you think deep diving crankbaits will work?

    • @CookingandFishing

      I've caught quite a few fluke on crankbaits, the problem is they are designed to contact bottom...and fluke are always looking up. A properly worked jerkbait that you can keep above them while still within their strike zone is much more effective.

    • @CookingandFishing

    • @CookingandFishing

      You'll be surprised how far a fluke will come up to nab that jerkbait - but yes, depth control is everything. You want a JB that can reach down within their strike zone, and in clear, warm water that can be upwards of 7-8ft above the bottom. It's something you gotta play around with for sure.
