Thanks for another great video, mate.
Thank you!!
I am glad I have found this channel again after a very long time. 5:33 is that still on lucky craft 70DD? I also just bought lucky 100XD, what hook(tremble)/split ring would you recommend replacing? Their original gears seem weak.
I only learnt from the best, thank you Rodger!
Keep slaying out there Angel lol!
so sick
Woah!!!! I didn’t know you had a channel bud!!! I think I ran into you!!! I even asked to test out your setup ? Great video!!!
You might be thinking of someone else lol...but I'm glad you found the channel!
@@CookingandFishing 😂 dam maybe yeah , you both dressed alike and had the same fishing setup
@@CookingandFishing you have some dope videos!!! And very good tips! Can’t wait to see more

Would you mind doing an review on your diy rod holder
That was is long discontinued...I have a review of a new rod holder here - th-cam.com/video/n0BN5Tfg0Uo/w-d-xo.html
How deep is the water where the fish were? And how deep do your jerk baits run? I wonder if bass crankbaits would work? Some will run with the bill hitting the bottom, they might be awesome for flounder/fluke. I saw a couple videos of people using chatterbaits for flounder around marshes, they're very good for running through grass. That's probably a good idea for really dirty water, if the fish are there.
You and your cousin haven't posted any videos in a while? Missing the great content.
Haha it's fluking time!
Hello Rodger. I've always followed your advice on techniques and equipment and I am very satisfied. You helped me improve with my fishing techniques and approach ten folds! I always catch a legal size fluke on every outing. Thanks to you! Again, as per your recommendation, I just purchased the Daiwa Steez AGS 76MML from Tackle Trap. I thought my Tatula Elite Versalite was great, my new Daiwa Steez AGS 76MML is even more amazing! Eventhough I have not fished it yet, I can just feel the difference between the two rods. Would you recommend a 2500 or 3000 reel to match with the Steez? Can't wait to use this rod! Thanks for all your very valuable advice!
Very nice!!! I would recommend Shimano 2500 since you don't need more line capacity on a fluke reel. The new Twin Power FE 2500 is looking very nice, ofc the Stella FK 2500 is perfect too. I would suggest buying USDM for the warranty since you're using it in saltwater. You're going to love that rod!
@@CookingandFishing Thank you!
Can a rod 9foot your, be used for WTD lure such as duo realis 130 pencil?
Awesome vid as usuall....Yours are exceptionaly informative as well. Thank You for Sharing. But, Man ur Brave throwing a 25+ dollar jerkbait off a dock . Usually lotsa trash n old lines. Finally mail ordered the correct jerk baits.....About what size Single hooks go on the Pointer 78 DD. Dont want to throw the plug off balance. Using the Gap...A 2/0 is close but the wire seems too heavy. Initially I will try it with just the tail treble. Never caught one on the jerk baits but most of the ones I have don't go deep enough.
#2 Owner single, not 2/0. #2 Decoy split rings. You want these to slowly float. I should have links to everything in this and other jerkbait videos.
@@CookingandFishing thank you!
hope you are ok! Been awhile. 21 SEP 23.
It's fishing season, not editing season haha...thanks for asking!!
Roger, what are there other options for these crankbait and jerkbait listed in your description? Ebay doesn't have them anymore.
Lucky Craft Pointer 78DD, Jackall Rerange 110 and 110MR, Zipbaits Kaira 80SP - just google these and you'll find sources to buy
@@CookingandFishing thanks champ!!
I'm new to pe lines and looking to replace my 8lb sufix for walleye jigging. What size would be best match with 10lb leader?
Probably PE0.8, which in YGK Upgrade x8 is 16lb. 8lb suffix will probably be more like PE1, or 22lb YGK, maybe even thicker, but imo too thick.
Ever get any interesting by catch jerk bait fishing fluke like Stripers or weakfish? Always enjoy these videos
Both stripers and weakfish and blues/puffers/robins anything that preys on baitfish will eat a jerkbait if you're working the right column. I suspect it will prove deadly on big weakfish if I ever run across a pod of them.
Hi what are your thoughts on using snap swivels to quickly change jigheads and bucktails? Do you do this, or do you think it messes up presentation?
I use a snap/clip to hardbaits, never on jigs mainly bc I don't want to feel metal grating on metal when I'm jigging. Also 99% of the time I'm using the plain 1/4oz gammy ball head and there's no reason to swap.
Great video and thanks, but in this and another of your jerkbait flounder videos on a beach you say there is a info in the description below the video. Well, i cant find anything corresponding to a description below the You Tube Video. Im using a Samsung Tablet.
I would appreciate the name of the jerkbait you are using. Thanks
It's the Lucky Craft Pointer 78DD.
You should do a tutorial on how you bleed them so clean like that lol
Poke that membrane under the gills and put in water, or stab the gill plate straight through.
Roger. How long of a leader do you tie specifically for single jig fluke fishing?
I keep the connection knot outside the rod for the most part when it comes to fluke jigging, and I go about a full arms' span - roughly 6ft or so.
@@CookingandFishing cool. I fish jetties a lot and I have been noticing that my leader is too short in that application. A bit dangerous. Im going to go longer.
@@frrok1 Yeah if I fished jetties a lot I would probably bump up my leaders to at least 14 -18lb fluoro and go with a FG knot to get 9ft+ or more
Do you think deep diving crankbaits will work?
I've caught quite a few fluke on crankbaits, the problem is they are designed to contact bottom...and fluke are always looking up. A properly worked jerkbait that you can keep above them while still within their strike zone is much more effective.
Hey is it possible to jig at night for fluke? What time do u recommend going for fluke?
Generally speaking it's a daytime thing, though you can catch at night with good moonlight or artificial light nearby.

do you jig the jerk bait on slack line also?
Always hit the jerkbait on slack - a few pulls here and there to gauge depth/bottom
I like how you don’t count a 17incher as a keeper. If that was a keeper here in NY I’d say I caught my limit every single fluke trip
Lol yup - I remember when NY was 21.5 - the fluking was off the charts during those years for big fish.
@@CookingandFishing have you guys ever made a trip to eastern LI? There’s some spots in the bay you’d have a field day with
@@Rustyfishing I can only imagine lol
This is very impressive: the jerk bait??? Lmao that’s crazy!! How do u keep it near the bottom so consistently?
You'll be surprised how far a fluke will come up to nab that jerkbait - but yes, depth control is everything. You want a JB that can reach down within their strike zone, and in clear, warm water that can be upwards of 7-8ft above the bottom. It's something you gotta play around with for sure.
Biggest fluke I’ve ever seen in my life came from that dock to your right. 33 inches. No idea the weight. Nobody had a scale. Guy was using a 5 inch live killie.
I believe it!
Is your fishing net good for landing 23” plus fluke?😅
100%.
Where do you get your fishing and fishing rod stand from?
I just listed it in the description - here's a little review of the new rod stand - th-cam.com/video/n0BN5Tfg0Uo/w-d-xo.html
I’m still new to fluke fishing. Can you recommend me a nice rod and reel. I’m fishing from shore
@@ducmintran I have 3 combos for different budgets listed in the description, here's a review of a solid setup for someone new to the game - th-cam.com/video/649n3fyPvOM/w-d-xo.html
Thank you
Where some of best locations for fluke in nj
Anywhere with saltwater there is fluke right now - go explore, use google maps, we don't spot burn here, sorry.
Think it's time to pick up a boat buddy. Even a small one is better than chillin on the dock
What's wrong with chillin on the dock?
@@CookingandFishingyou probably are catching more on docks than he his on a boat. He’s just mad spending so much money buying a boat and you out shining him from a dock. Your Cousin and yourself are game changers. The proof is in the pudding. I see it all over! Thanks for the videos and the descriptions of what’s happening while you doing your thing!! Keep Casting.
@@JuanRivera-cn8sf haha thank you! It was definitely a funny comment - it's one thing if I'm not catching fish in the video and complaining about it...lol
Must be nice , someone always bitches at me for fishing on the plastic docks over there
