Nice video, lots of useful info. Would you consider making a more detailed video about remote germinating seeds in the plastic bins using Perlite? I would like to see more of your process in germinating Bismarckia Nobilis & Medjool Date Palms, thanks!!
+Moto Tigger I just made a new video about watering palms, I can definitely make my next video on how I use bins of perlite for remote germinators. Thanks for the feedback!
What a wonderful and informative video, love your passion and enthusiasm. A great looking set up . I'm in London UK and looking to germinate some palms. I've had some success with Banana plants and to combat fungus I sprinkle some Cinnamon powder over the top it's naturally anti-fungal . Good luck and make more videos
Great info man, really appreciate it. I'm new to palm seeds, thus am using only the good old perlite or vermiculite in sealed containers / or just plant them out side in pots with half perlite half soil mix. And you've opened my eyes to other possibilities. Could you please write me, what germination tactic would you follow for the seeds am trying to germinate now? They're all on their first day in water, the seeds are: Adonidia merrillii Arenga engleri Bactris guineensis Cyrtostachis lakka Chamaerops humilis v. cerifera Dypsis decaryi Trachycarpus wagnerianus Trachycarpus fortunei Pritchardia pacifica Roystonea regia None of them is fresh, all of them were bought online.
Hi, my sister’s Foxtail palm has a huge seed pod full of large green seeds and I would love to try and grow some. Can I pick them while green? If so, then what? Wait until they turn orange before planting? Soak them? Peel them? Also, what would be the best method and medium? THANK YOU!
Pick them when they turn red or orange. And yes you can soak them in water for a few days until a root appears. Transplant them in soil and use a well draining mix. Water it when soil is dry.
Thanks for the video, its very educational. I usually just throw my seeds in a big bin with potting soil, and wait. That works usually with Areca palms, fish tails and card board palms. I have A Question. I have a Sylvester palm. First year it has seeds. They are green right now. When do I to gather the seeds, what color should they be? Also what method should I use to sow the seeds. Also today I threw out our kiddie pool. It was already out on the street with our garbage. Then I watched your video about the coconut seeds and the kiddie pool. I ran out to the street and saved it as the garbage truck was almost there. Quick save! Thank you! Randy 🌴
I just planted 3 Tamaulipas and 10 brazoria and 3 mccurtain surely some of these will germinate right? Or do they all germinate ? I put em in a pot and all de hulled the seeds and keep it watered regularly ?
Hi! Nice video - This May be a Long shot by i have recieved an ivory Palm seed, an would like to germinate it. So far I’ve soaked the seed and planted it in light soil keeping it hydrated (like the rainforest) Maybe I just need to be patient, but does this sound like an ok approach? Will try to give it some heat 35 degrees Celsius as well Nice channel! thanks /Louise
I got some queen palm seeds straight from a tree on vacation in Puerto Rico..i came home ..and soaked them for about a week in 3% hydrogen peroxide & water..now im ready to plant them..so do i need the coco coir? Its pretty hot in p.r. so do i just mimic the environment like your doing? Also after i cleaned the seeds..they have hair..lol..so how many days should i keep soaking them? Or just plant them now?
I am new too trying to germinate seeds I have a 1 pindo 2 canary palms 1 Bismarck 5 queen 2 Sylvester all have plenty of seeds do u have any specific videos on each palm I would love to grow more

Hi. Could you suggest the best way to germinate Christmas tree palm seeds. I am just now waiting for the fresh seed to ripen on the palm. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏
Very interesting. I live in coastal Queensland bordering on the tropics. Queen palms are considered a pest weed here. Have you grown any Sealing Wax palms ? I have one growing here at home.
@@TheCfkingfish Ok I placed them in a closed box that isn't transparent, with water in the hottest place of my house. Fortunately for me, I live in Monterrey, Mexico. So the sun feels like summer sun all year long.
Hi, love the info. Would be nice to see a inserted picture of the palms your mentioning. Then I can docu.ent which I would like to try growing... thanks again for the info. I love in Trinidad &Tobago.
I have some queen palm seeds and I was wondering what kind of soil I should use, and how much water I need to add. I might put them in clear plastic cups or ziplock bags, what do you think would be better?
Christian, where can you get that coconut fiber? I’m having some trouble with my Licuala seedlings...half have died I think due to fungus or rot. Thank you...
Great methods I'm germinating bismarckia now using 2 methods 1 baggy the other one I have lay all the seeds in mix of potting soil and perlite in closed container ? Which would you recommend
Hi christian I have some cabbage palm seeds and I have tried to germinate them and cannot get them to germinate. do you know how? Your information would be appreciated!
Cptpaul12 I would use a richer soil as they dont need as much drainage. Anything labeled potting mix should be fine. As long as you give them plenty of heat and water they should germinate rather quickly.
Hi Kingfish.....I collected some Kentia Palm seeds and wondered if your perlite in the container method would be best. I tried putting some in a baggy with the promix HP mix but they stayed too wet and rotted. The seeds are bright redish orange. I soaked them in water for 24 hrs. and they all stayed at bottom. I live in the Los Angeles area. Any germination advice on this type of palm would be helpful on my end. Your video was great!
Dan Dunkleberg Kentia Palms are some of the few seeds I have not worked with that much because of our climate in Florida. they do take quite a long time to germinate and do not require high heat. I would recommend growing them in regular well-draining soil mix around 75 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. they will grow here but only in shade and don't look as elegant as they do in California.
Thanks! Taking the seeds out of the container w/ perlite and noticed that a fuzzy mold is growing on them. Do you have a problem with this? It must be because of the fruit of the seed?
Dan Dunkleberg If the fruit is still on the seed, you will want to take it off first. It warmer climates the fruit degrades much faster and is not a problem.
Thanks! What is the easiest way to do this? The outer fruit is really hard and oily on the Kentia seeds I am really enjoying all your videos. Thanks again for all your time and effort on helping us all.
Hey so the thing is i am growing about 40kg seeds about 300,000 seeds in about a weekn they are 13 different types of palms . Will be needing alot of guidance too lol as this is a booming business in my area. 👌

Cyrtostachis lakka
Chamaerops humilis v. cerifera
Dypsis decaryi

Will I be able to have any hope of germinating some filifera seeds that are 5 years old? If so what method do you suggest. Thank you.
Good day I'm from Trinidad. I was wondering what's the best method to germinate fishtail palms
@thepalmfather
I have palm seeds, but I'm not sure were the palm is from. There are a smaller version. How can I grow them?
I just planted 3 Tamaulipas and 10 brazoria and 3 mccurtain surely some of these will germinate right? Or do they all germinate ? I put em in a pot and all de hulled the seeds and keep it watered regularly ?
Great knowledge and respect for Palms.. Great share Thanks..

Hi! Thanks for the info. Question: how do you actually germinate the bismarckia palm?
HEAT! Check out my Bismarckia palm germination vlog.
Hi. Could you suggest the best way to germinate Christmas tree palm seeds. I am just now waiting for the fresh seed to ripen on the palm. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏
Making sure the soil is 80-90F with plenty of water is ideal.
Wow, what do you do with all these?
Grow them into large plants!
What soil is that or compost? See that white stuff in all palm videos but my palm didn’t come with this any advice for a washingtonia palm about 20”
Good effort. Tell me how to generate star palm seeds. I want to generate Star palm.
Very interesting. I live in coastal Queensland bordering on the tropics. Queen palms are considered a pest weed here.
Have you grown any Sealing Wax palms ? I have one growing here at home.
Yes, I have many growing here, but they have to stay in pots unfortunately.
Which method would you use for foxtail palm seeds?
I’d like to knw as well
Any experience in germinating king alexander palms?
Have you germinated triangle palm seeds?
What media/method do you recommend for Medjool palm seeds?
Did you peel off flesh/fruit from the smaller ones?
Amazing work
does the acrocomia crispa method work with acrocomia aculeata too?
It sure does!
@@TheCfkingfish Ok I placed them in a closed box that isn't transparent, with water in the hottest place of my house. Fortunately for me, I live in Monterrey, Mexico. So the sun feels like summer sun all year long.

I would love to, my video editiing skills are not very good! I will try in the future though.
You think you can make a video on how to germinate Chilean wine palm seeds? And Canary island palm seeds ?
If I acquire some seed of either one I can do this but these are not well suited for Florida climates.
I have some queen palm seeds and I was wondering what kind of soil I should use, and how much water I need to add. I might put them in clear plastic cups or ziplock bags, what do you think would be better?
Take your local nursery potting soil and mix it with 50 percent perlite. Just water when you see the soil dry up. I would use the cup method.
Happy to hear beccariophoenix mentioned right out of the gate. Do you have them growing and for sale? What variety do you have? Thank you.
Christine, I am sorry I did not reply earlier. I don't have any at the moment but can find you some if you'd like?
@7:30 you lost your train of thought after Queen Palm.. can you finish what you were going to say about Bismarck?
I forgot what I was saying!
Excellent vid!
Are there any tips for germinating King Palm ( Archontophoenix alexandrae) seeds?
Yes, any soil will do, lots of heat, lots of water, fresh seed will pop in a few weeks.
Christian, where can you get that coconut fiber? I’m having some trouble with my Licuala seedlings...half have died I think due to fungus or rot.
Thank you...
Amazon is probably the simplest place, if you need it right away, big box stores will sell small bricks of it in the orchid area.
Thanks man. Appreciate the advice. Do you leave them in that stuff until they are pretty good size? Or do you transplant as son as they sprout?
Great methods
I'm germinating bismarckia now using 2 methods 1 baggy the other one I have lay all the seeds in mix of potting soil and perlite in closed container
? Which would you recommend
I think both are actually fine, the baggy method would be easier for a smaller amount of seed, and the container for a larger amount over 25 seed.
How is Bismarck going? I am getting some and curious about your result.
Hi christian I have some cabbage palm seeds and I have tried to germinate them and cannot get them to germinate. do you know how? Your information would be appreciated!
Lots of heat and humidity!
What type of soil and procedure do you recommend to germinate Chinese Fan Palms? I live in the Florida Keys and I have tons of seeds.
Cptpaul12 I would use a richer soil as they dont need as much drainage. Anything labeled potting mix should be fine. As long as you give them plenty of heat and water they should germinate rather quickly.

Dan Dunkleberg Usually the seed is orange-red when ripe. Were they still hard and had that coloring?
how many days did they take to sprout?
The Coconuts take a month or two if that was what you were referring to.
I'm in Miami and have a few bismarck palm seeds. I found big ones and little ones. Should I concentrate on growing the bigger ones?
Yes, small seed is not pollinated.
excellent ideas, thank you .
you !
Will you do a coconut palm from seed video, and include updates? Thanks!
Sure, I can do that. I need to harvest some coconuts, but would you like an initial tutorial of how it is done?
Very nice
For Satakentia seeds and Adonidia seeds, which way do you recommend??
Any palm that you would keep the fruit on would be in an open container. The fruit will rot and have nowhere to go in a closed one.
Exactly the channel i was finding.
Glad to hear that and welcome to the channel!
