- I am so excite to finally be able to have a weigela in my garden! Today, I'm adding three compact perennial shrubs to my rooftop deck garden. Each of these will grow 3 to 4 feet maximum and work perfectly in containers or small gardens.

Us gardeners with smaller areas certainly do need to be ruthless 👊🏻🌻👊🏻
We really do!! The bar is so high in our garden 😆
I like the 2nd plant. Wild and whimsical looking.
Right!! It looks so fun.
Beautiful clay pots and great plant selections, they are the bees knees.
Thank you!!
Thanks for the information on the Weigela, I'm going to look for one.
I’m so excited to finally have one in my garden!
I'd move the one in the middle way off to the corner right & leave the other two where they are. Absolutely love terracotta pots. Ive been collecting them for years. Ive even been known to drag them out of other peoples garbage. I'm a shameless gardener! lol
Any time I see terracotta, especially aged, I want to grab it!
Thank you so much for mentioning the size of the terracotta pots. It's true, sizing can be deceptive on camera...I was sure it was a 17" pot, lol! Great to know one can plant these compact shrubs. I just planted a PW Sweetspire 'Little Henry' at my boss' garden. I can't wait for autumn to see the leaves change!
Fall color hasn’t been something I’ve really thought about up here in the past but I know how happy it makes me to see the colors change that now I need more!
Some Weigelas bloom again later in the summer. Blooms in spring on old wood so don’t prune in early spring. If you need to, prune right after first bloom.
What happens if I never prune 🤣
@@ChicagoGardener It might get too big for the pot! 🤭 I can't say I ever understood why growers put a limit on height and width. It really means a listed size after a certain amount of time.
I’d try centering 1 plant in front of each of your border planter boxes.
Ooooh I like that!
Everything is going to look awesome - amazing work!
Thank you!!
Great selections 😊 I have an older version of the mock orange that was already here at our home amazing fragrance! My little Sweetspire couple years old and is so pretty and the wiegla.
How large is your mock orange?
@ChicagoGardener it's about 5ft tall and 3ft wide, but it is an older version. I have lived in my home for 28 years.
Muy utiles las materas
Where is the mystery plant? Did you figure out what it was?
Never figured it out and it died 😩 didn’t bloom and every Google image search told me something different
@@ChicagoGardener awww bummer!
Do plants need artificial light if overwintered in a garage?
If they are plants that drop their leaves, they won’t need any light. I’ve never tried overwintering an evergreen before but I’ve heard that you do need light but also others who say it worked fine for them with no light.
@@ChicagoGardener thank you so much for the answer. They are actually miniature roses. Love your stream.💖
I would not buy anything called Illuminati . Lol ❤😂
🤣🤣🤣
