I loooooove Ordinary Parent’s Guide to Teaching Reading!! I’ve used the old version twice now and it is so short, simple, quick. Biggest thing I learned was to be consistent and do it every day, even weekends if possible. Lessons take 5-10 minutes. One time I skipped lessons for a couple months (summer break) and we had to go back about 20 lessons.

Please do a video deep dive on the reading curriculum options! I am scared I’ve made the wrong choice. I learned to read with a method that there weren’t any site words that I can remember. It was all phonics and rules that teach you how to pronounce most words and then just a few rule breaker words we learned along side each rule, if that makes sense. That’s how I want to do it with my kids. I have 100 easy lessons, all about reading (on loan from friends), and I just ordered explode the code. And I am leaning toward also getting Logic of English. I know I don’t need so many programs! but I’m not sure which one uses the method I have in my mind. I’ve just been going on what has good reviews without really understanding how each one works.

I want a video on how you make Math With Confidence work! I picked it for my kindergartner for this upcoming school year and I already suspect I'm going to hate the chaos of it. Won't be surprised if I switch to Singapore Primary 2022 by October lol

My daughter used that same green handwriting book at her preschool last year. I think it’s good but maybe not challenging enough for kindergarten. She is artistic too and picked up writing quite quick. I’m not sure when to introduce cursive and I’ve also heard Denelian is good for that.

For handwriting, I have had the most success waiting until first grade to work on handwriting. (I know a lot of people do it in kindergarten so this is just my personal experience.) My children have had better fine motor skills after they turned 6 and that made it easier for them to practice handwriting.

We used logic of English with my artsy hands on… we did it with cursive and my daughter didn’t need extra handwriting the way a works on strokes was more than enough

Oh! I bought the manuscript version. 🤦‍♀️ I wonder if I can just purchase the cursive flash cards, etc? Thank you for your input!

My mint green rolling cart was a gift from my mother in law and it really helped organize my homeschool.
