The All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC) and the All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) recently sent a letter to the Finance Minister advocating for the merger of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) with their sponsoring Public Sector Banks (PSBs). This proposal has sparked significant debate within the banking sector. In this context, Kanal interviewed Anto Gaulbert, President of the Tamil Nadu Grama Bank Officers' Association. He stated, "RRBs have reached their current level of success through prolonged struggle and hard work by their employees. Those who were not part of this journey are now attempting to take over RRBs easily through a merger."

the RRBins who are on the verge of retirement and union leaders are opposing merger with sponsor bank. however it is good for young RRBians.

Earlier they aren't considered as Bankers. Now we fought and achieved almost everything single handed without their support. Now only their eyes were opened and they treated us as bankers. CROCODILE TEARS. Formation of NRBI is our motto. We will fight for this.
