Took me a while ( a year ), but now I've finally gotten around to mount these two headsteadies. Did the loosening and retorquing of the engine too. I'll say it worked. Still some vibrations, but at 90 kmh they are almost gone. Worth the money! Thanks for the tip, Warro :)
Thinking back to my '92 Bullet 500, the problem was frequently the complete LACK of vibration. Sometimes I could even be travelling at 50mph in the cab of the recovery vehicle when lack of vibration was most noticable.
Good timing Warro, was thinking of fitting head steadies to my trials, although only 2300 miles on her. So not fully settled in if it's owt like me old classic or 535 Conti. Cheers Mick
might as well. i think you will notice the immediate difference. i'd go for two. i think it works a treat. no use using the factory unit -just try 2 of these and do it properly...lol
i think that depends upon how bad the vibration is per bike. unlike say hondas where they are all put together the same-ride one cb500x and the other will be exactly the same- not so with enfields. ive had then from really bad vibrators to pretty mild so its a more roll of the dice and how lucky/unlucky one is. if its a med to bad vibrator the fixes can help a great deal especially the heavy duty head steady so its worth a try for sure. i can do wonders with footpeg vibes
Your thoughts on the Carberry anti vibration device would be appreciated. I’ve just put one on mine, but have mixed feelings about it. Seems to have helped with a point of high vibes in the rev range but introduced them in what was a sweet spot!
in that case go one step further or maybe 2 -jump up to a 19t front sprocket and also fit 2 head steady supports to the rear of the motor. these are from hitchcock motorcycles and do a pretty good job. dont play with the bike-fit two!
@@tomstockell9481 I did do that and it was a sweeter engine, I had it dynoed after fitting various goodies from Hitchcocks’s by a local chap herein Sudbury. He said that the engines vary a lot on vibration and mine is particularly poor!! I’ve now saved all my penny’s, raided the grandchildrens savings accounts and lm fitting a Hitchcocks 615cc conversion complete with a balanced British made crank. That’ll fix it! I’ve previously owned a 1992 615cc Bullet and that was a cracking conversion, this one’s going to be a keeper hence the crazy spend, it’s one of the last Trails versions and pretty as a picture!👍
@@ridewithwarro yep, did do that Warro and it did improve matters but I’ve now gone completely bonkers a will fit a Hitchcocks 615cc conversion. Not particularly for the performance gain but also to kill the vibe’s once and for all!

I just sold my Classic Chrome after less than a year having putting the carberry in, then bought the RE Interceptor 650 thinking a twin would solve all those problems, but hated it - felt too rushed and unrelaxed after the Classic, took it back and will try my luck again with a new black and white Classic from the same dealer...cant help but give it another go ! They are such awesome bikes. If this one has the same vibration problems I might end up doing what youve done ! keep me posted !

Sorry Warro, another question. Is there a bit of play between the bolt shank & the head boss hole? You’d want to get it without play. Maybe a bolt with less thread & more shank dia so it’s not using the thread to act as a pin.
vibration plate helps sometimes and others not so. more like the luck of the draw using it. still think its worth a try as they dont cost much plus you can always jump up one tooth up front to mod the vibe further up. if you have footpeg vibration this head steady mod will help greatly. i actually used two. you could buy just one and still use factory steady. i never tried that one. booster plug will just make it run more smoothly motor wise and be a bit better on throttle on or off i always thought with booster plug that the bike starts off good with the mod and somehow the ecu eventually overrides it. you can try heavier bar end weights and foam grips too
Great setup Warro. 1 question though, do you pull the head towards the frame or push it away from the frame? I noticed 1 rod was lengthened or showing more thread, so I’m guessing you push it away from the frame?🤔

doesn't always work. that depends upon how well they machined the crank or should i say how worn out the maching equipement was when they did the crank...precision wise. this bike would not hold that bearing in place
@@ridewithwarro I made a mistake. The rod are connected, why can't they build a one piece rod instead of a connected rod? (That too a screw system) Don't you think the screw will get loosen up in the future? You know a one piece might come out stronger it seems. Just my guest..!
@@imochasingh6875that two peice unit is just to make sure you get the distance between the two holes spot on.it does that task perfectly. once you tighten the adjustment nut i don't think it will ever move at all.
If the vibrations come from the crank, are you solving the problem or securing the symptom? Like dealing with death wobble in a jeep. Tighten your seat belt to keep your eyes from shaking. Whatever works! lol
well put it this way its pretty expensive to go into the crank side. pull the motor split the motor pull the crank and i suppose have it balanced and put back together. not a mechanic so i'd say expensive fix. this idea does help and has been proven to work. so its a cheap opton. won't eliminate but will help some. but the best bet would be if one hates vibrations i'd say best bet would be to just pick another bike.

Michael - I also had the same issue after fitting the Carberry, the vibes have just moved around not reduced ! Go back to the factory plate I reckon

just hooked it up via the normal relaxed position of the motor. maybe just camera angle there but no push or pulling of the motor

@@am_jeds comes complete with looped endsand is adjustable-i'd recommong 2 -one each side if its a bad vibrator

not sure now just pull the originals and take them to the supplier and he will match them for you. thats what they did for me
