I wanted to make this type of video for a while and I'm very happy that I'm finally done! In this video, Frisk meets the ghosts of the other fallen children on that mountain. I know Frisk seems like a jerk in the video, but I mostly didn't want to make the reason the fallen souls jump something as shallow as a guy not liking them etc. I mean we all know they ended up in the Underground, so regardless of what Frisk says, their fate is inevitable. so in terms of the story behind this version of 'My R' I think its about Frisk meeting the different hearts that came before them, however unlike the original song and mv, the ones before Frisk are actually committing suicide/going to the underground because what Frisk said to each of them is the exact opposite of what life is like for them (eg, 'theres always dinner waiting on the table you know' when really their family is sickly and in pain). then eventually Frisk meets Chara and can't say anything to them because Chara had seen the worst in life and Frisk looking like a mirror image probably has too. but Chara doesn't jump and turns into flowers instead, indicating Chara's backstory of dying from the flowers, being buried in the flowers, and the connection Chara made with Frisk when Frisk fell on Chara's flowerbed. Chara's sudden appearance and dissolving into flowers could also symbolise Frisk's interaction with Chara in the actual game which is similar to Chara appearing before Frisk despite being dead and Chara's interference in the game that often guides Frisk in what they do (eg, by Chara not jumping, they are trying to guide Frisk not to jump). Frisk then jumps to commit suicide and falls into the underground where everything begins in the game.
that's my theory over this animation and yes I am that bored and eventless that I wrote a whole theory on it. if you read it all, good for you and thank you for bothering.

What I can get from the song: Frisk tries to commit suicide, but then each time they try, the spirit of someone who fell before them appears. The spirits then tell them their stories, and Frisk gets angry at them. Once they sense that Frisk is unwilling to jump, at least for that day, they jump themselves, symbolizing their return to wherever they're supposed to be. After Chara comes and tries to convince Frisk to stop, the spirits see Frisk's determination and that they keep returning even when the spirits keep trying to convince them not to, so they give up and sadly watch Frisk jump.

The way these are said and who they are said to indicate Frisk thinks everyone else has these things, or that Frisk has these negatives. Frisk has lost something. Frisk has nobody waiting at home who loves them.
This adds to the feel of the song.

For some of you who didn't understand:
Frisk (in this video) is trying to commit suicide by going up to Mt. Ebott and jumping down the hole. However, every single day, they see different people coming up to the mountain also committing suicide. The different people who comes up to the mountain to jump down to the hole are Frisk's inner thoughts. The people and their stories represents as the reason why Frisk should jump down the hole however, Frisk just realizes that every single stories that their inner thoughts are saying can be solved so they turn back and failed to jump down the hole. In other words, the Patience (the braided girl), Bravery (bandanna girl)'s stories is also what happened to Frisk but Patience and Bravery aren't actually there and just represents as a reason why Frisk should jump down the hole (i.e Patience's story says that she was separated by Kindness which also happened in Frisk's life, either that in Frisk's life, they lost someone who was close to them)
And in the end, we see Chara who is the ultimate reason why Frisk should jump down the hole. Unfortunate for Frisk, they weren't able to find any rebuttals and able to say anything why Chara (their ultimate inner suicide thought) shouldn't jump down the hole and thus, Chara jumped down, killing himself/herself. After that, we don't see anyone stopping Frisk from jumping anymore which means they finally got the reason why they should commit suicide and they got that reason from Chara (who was Frisk's inner suicide thought). So after getting Frisk's reason to commit suicide, they take off their 'yellow cardigan' (which is Chara's yellow stripe from her clothes or whatever), she gets her braids undone (Patience's braided hair), being the small petite person they are (Bravery's short and petite form), Frisk jumps down the hole. Which means that Chara, Patience and Bravery were connected to Frisk and they weren't really there instead their real forms was Frisk. Chara Patience and Bravery are Frisk all in one.
It also explains why the song's name is 'My R' which is actually 'My Reason'. Frisk's ultimate inner suicide thought (Chara) had a REASON to commit suicide and that reason is that they wanted to stop feeling pain and despair every time they go home so that's why they went to the mountain to commit suicide. In other words, when Frisk comes home every time they were stopped from killing themselves in the mountain, they feel pain and despair and desperately wanted it to stop and that's why they go to the mountain every day to have a reason to kill themselves.

So,for get this straight....Frisk is about to suicide by jumping into that hole but there is always someone before her who wants to do the same thing and she tries to stop them without success but she doesn't find anyone one day and she suicides too.Happy melody nice song but the plot makes me feel kinda sad

The girls that Frisk had encountered represented her in the past. Each of the girls symbolized a hard time in Frisk’s life and when she argues with them as to their reason for wanting to jump being ‘lame’ and they each ‘disappear’ this is her finding a reason to continue on living. Then when she faces her present self ( yellow cardigan ) she can’t give her a reason to continue on instead simply saying “Hey, don’t do it, please.” She loses her nerve but the next day she makes up her mind to jump and be free from all the pain she is suffering. So she does just that.
‘She takes off her yellow cardigan, watching her braids all come undone, and her petite form as short as can be is going to jump now and be free.’

This is a really old animation but I still want to say that this is my all time favourite animation.
I'm not sure why, I saw this the first time some years ago and it stuck with me, sometimes I think about it when I'm doing something else and then I have the urge to watch it again.
I love the concept of this animation, is basically perfect and how it's executed is even better.
This song is used and overused but this time it fits so well and it's more than you usually see around, you can interpreting this in many ways and every option it's amazing and fashinating.

I just realized something. The song is probably a person's inner self trying to talk them out of suicide but on the last day her inner self couldn't stop her.

I like the detail that despite Frisk trying to convince them otherwise, all the other kids still jump. It was kinda annoyed me in other animatics where the singer basically goes "thats stupid I have a much better reading to want to die" and the others go "you're right" and leave. In this Frisk accidentally makes it worse which I think is cool
It was kinda cruel that Bravery just fell down the mountain and left her sick mother in the house alone tho..

I always thought the main character in this song was Chara, and they were trying to convince the souls not to go in the mountain, but they did anyway. Then, frisk came along, and Chara thought frisk was a lot like them, and agreed to help them in the mountain, since Chara knew they possessed determination and would go anyway

Makusia o w o yeah, chara though totally has that face that could be a guy or girl but kinda leans more towards guy. They just don't seem to be given any very feminine features but at the same time they don't really have masculine features either, really helps with the gender neutral thing so no one can complain "well what chara looks like doesnt fit MY headcannon!!" Same goes for frisk, but i feel they look more female than male, kinda like how chara looks more male than female though they could be either

No, it's really not. Can we stop saying that these are the answers? For someone who has been suicidal for a long time, I can tell you that this is "not the answer for everyone who is depressed". This video is showing suicide to be the answer, and while I enjoy this so much, this is not a good answer for everyone.

Listening to the song time and time again. I believe that Frisk is trying to stop them from committing suicide, even if they want to do it, but every time they tried the wrong words came out because they don't know the whole story. Frisk may have came off angry, but they may have also been frustrated by how they could let out their pain to Frisk but in the end everyone jumped. When Frisk came across Chara, they couldn't do it anymore. And broke down. Chara did disappear, going back to the underground. When they came to commit suicide they saw themselves in the people who jumped that they failed to save.

Flame Raven no, in the original My R she's talking to herself each day, convincing herself to not commit suicide. Eventually she didn't convince herself.
Every new girl represents a reason to die in her own life, and every time she finds a reason to convince them (which means herself) to not take the fall.
But every day, she sees a new girl which has the exact opposite situation of the reason she gave the day before, and she tries again to save that new girl with another reason to live etc...
For some days, this cycle of "Pros and Cons to suicide" works in favor of her, but then one day she doesn't find anyone on the rooftop, which means that every reason she had to live does not works on her anymore, like "having a loving family" began "having a careless family" etc...
So she finally takes the fall due to not having anything to live for.

by dissapeared they dont say they walked away they killed them selves but instead of being hurt about it they were glad someone was there to hear there stories before they ended it all (i assume)
It's symbolic. In the original sound all the girls are reasons to live and in the range all of them vanish till there is no reason to live left and the main girl decides to die

This is an amazing creation!It fits Undertale perfectly!Well,before the game starts,that is.But it does explain very well why Frisk went to that mountain in the first place and that the fall WASN'T an accident at all...Anyways I LOVE the animation and I LOVE this singer and I already heard her before singing an Undertale song.It's called Stronger than you Frisk response.To people that admire Rachie as much as I do,you should check it out!:) I DEFINITELY think that the creator of Undertale should make an AU called BeforeTale explaining Frisk's past life before Undertale!

1:02 Frisk met Patience, Bravery, Integrity, Perseverance, and then Kindness is the second to last because Frisk never got to them. They died before Frisk met them. And Yellow is Chara she's at the end because she is like the opposite of Frisk(?) and since Frisk is the 1st one Chara would be the last one. sorry if this is incorrect I don't know too much about Undertale.

After watching this tons of times, I just realized that these are the souls after they already died and that’s why it shows Green’s grave even before Frisk ever attempted to stop him and how they already seem to know Frisk’ll fail, and how Chara disappeared into the yellow flowers. Nice going, OP :D
The souls dont seem to be sad when frisk has finally made up their mind to jump, probably bc the souls know they are needed in the underground, that they'll be okay. That they are the determined angel who has seen the surface and make the underground go empty. It's their time, the prophesy foretold it. They're encouraging frisk. It's time for monsters to finally be free.
Idk why but this song speaks to me I feel like I know what there talking about but idk y is it just me I feel like there depressed and they feel better because finally someone listened to them all of the souls had something bad in there life happen and they couldn't deal with it anymore and they ended there life and at the end when frisk said I'm gonna jump now and be free to me means that she or he won't suffer any more but we all know how that worked out they gave life a second chance and they gave mercy to all the monster's in the underground and now there happy so yah my comment is probably gonna get buried under all the other comments like always It's probably something totally different from what I thought
