    This game came out on Nancy Drew’s 75th anniversary! That’s why it takes place in the 30s and is loosely based on the first few books. At one point earlier in development they thought this would be the last game they made but thankfully that wasn’t so!

    In a flashback from one of the other games, child Nancy has a lilac inn dollhouse, so there's a theory that this was Nancy's first mystery. But it was just a story she made up as a little girl

    My theory to this mystery is that Nancy's rich father created a Westworld themed park for her, just set in the 1930s! Also, the psychic guy was giving me less Jay Manuel and more John O'Hurley, the host of the National Dog Show! Lol! Love the Let's Play Livestreams Joe 🖤.

      omg ok so my theory is smth else (though he would totally do that for her) but somebody mentioned in SPY in Nancy’s childhood bedroom or smth she’s got a dollhouse that says “the lilac inn” and there’s other notes like “no phone” stuff consistent w the 1930s. and in alibi in ashes the reporter Brenda Carlton says “this is the biggest thing to happen since the Josiah Crowley case” so it’s established that it was a thing that really happened but the other games were set in like 2000 so how could that be? I think as a child nancy read about the case and pretended to solve it herself, while she was playing w her dollhouse and using details she read from the news :o

    Just wanna say that the golf ball puzzle in this game, as well as the similar one in Captive Curse? Is how I was instantly able to understand Wordle when that trend started. People in Joe's twitch comments there calling it "golf ball wordle"; nah kids, this was the _original_ Wordle 😌

    • @RoboticYeti
      @RoboticYeti 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes!! I also had a boardgame called Mastermind as a kid and it was a similar thing

    • @ProPinkist
      @ProPinkist 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RoboticYeti Yeah, I looked it up and apparently that's one of the first versions of it, but the actual puzzle type (that you could do with pen and paper) was and is called "Bulls and Cows":
      "Bulls and Cows (also known as Cows and Bulls or Pigs and Bulls) is a code-breaking mind or paper and pencil game for two or more players, predating the commercially marketed board game Mastermind and the hit word game Wordle."
      It's a lot harder with colors than words, because letters can only go in certain patterns and so you're more limited in what you can do. People who started with Wordle have it easier :P

    We’re the same age so Taylor Swift was maybe a thing when you were a junior/senior in high school. And the reason I know this is that Taylor Swift performed at my high school when she was still a country singer and starting to become A Name. Attendance was mandatory. Someone asked her to prom and tried to give Taylor their cell number. We also got free Dairy Queen Dilly bars. The whole day still feels like a fever dream tbh

    i only learned about the nancy drew games from your lets plays and it's been a hoot and a hollar experiencing them for the first time with you. the bachel twist? gag of the century. ive since learned there is a die-hard following for the games. understandably so! sometimes people can be opinionated, which is their right but i hope you continue to play how you want regardless of what anyone says. i know it may not be everyone's cup of tea, esp considering how dear many people hold these games to their heart. i personally find your way of playing so entertaining.
    im guessing this game has a different plot than the book? i had it but i dont remember it at all haha. im guessing they wouldnt want to make the story the same though.

    joe I googled it and mini golf was invented in 1917 and it was SO ubiquitous in the 30s they called it “the madness of of 1930” like it was hella popular LOL. that lady’s accent to me sounded like a Failed Wisconsin accent idk why since to me a transatlantic accent is more like what Elizabeth Taylor sounded like. I think Titusville is in Kentucky and I know irl that’s true and there’s also one in Florida and prob some other states but in the nancy drew world Titusville is the next town over from river heights. Lowkey based on alibi in ashes I assumed they live in California based on nothing other than my own opinion just cuz she seems like the daughter of a rich California lawyer imo 🧠
