    Thanks for the video. I've been using FT8CN via Bluetooth with the BG2FX FX-4CR on 10m using a Gabil GRA-7350T without radials from a 4th floor balcony. Made about 3 dozen contacts from 6 countries in no time. This takes portable operating to a whole new level!

      @@robindavies1839Yes, no physical cable. I've tried it with the Xiegu X6100 and could only get it to decode via Bluetooth, but not transmit. It works fully over Bluetooth with the FX-4CR.

      @@KW4TIM Thank you so much for the confirmation. I asked Yu what version of Bluetooth is supported in the FX4CR and he indicated 5.1. I’m not sure that means devices that implement lower versions of Bluetooth won’t work correctly - but something for others to be aware of. I’ve got my pre-order in for the next batch of Yu’s magic little machines…and I can’t wait! As you say, takes operating to a whole new level. Pair it with a rugged Android device, and you could pretty much operate comfortably in most weather conditions without a problem.

    • @KW4TIM
      @KW4TIM ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robindavies1839 Speaking of operating comfortably in most weather conditions, I did so yesterday at my QTH. I was outside operating portable when a storm was approaching. Since I already had the Gabil antenna on the tripod, I decided to see if I could get any QSOs using it upstairs with the FX-4CR and FT8CN. Not expecting much, I was surprised when I had a QSO with a station in Nevada on 10 meters while operating at 10 watts. I believe you'll enjoy this little rig. New ones ship with the upgraded motherboard and latest firmware update too.

    Got it working on the IC-705 with USB and Bluetooth. Got it working on the X6100 with USB. Tried bluetooth but the radio is putting out zero power. Everything appears to be functioning but no power out. CAT works, it keys the 6100, just no power out. Has to be a how the 6100 is getting the audio from the android. No luck so far, will advise. I would love this app with the X6100 bluetooth! He needs a little manual of some kind, at least the buttons. It keeps automatically changing to stations calling CQ and calls them.

    Great video and APP. I am new to HF and FT8. I have seen that my APP transmits for 15 seconds and listens for another 15. But when I transmit there will be other stations transmitting, which I cannot hear, nor can they hear me. So I'm never going to listen to the stations that broadcast at the same time as me? On the other hand, if I don't listen to those stations, how do I know I'm not Tx on the same audio frequency that them? Thanks for your time.

    • @temporarilyoffline
      @temporarilyoffline  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Welcome to HF Angus! You're going to have a lot of fun. FT8 is pretty advanced, maybe too big for a youtube comment, but here goes:
      I'm not sure if FT8CN allows you to view what's going on in a way that you could find an "open spot" to transmit. Might be easier to start on a desktop app (might be harder) - but you're absolutely correct that its 15 on/15 off - you'll have to pick one of those time segments and watch the waterfall to se if anybody is there. Once you find an open spot in your segment, click on it/tap on it and select "Hold TX Frequency" - I'm not sure what that language is in FT8CN.
      After that, once you start transmitting, you'll only be seeing half of the waterfall (you can't listen while you're talking), so you'll have to trust the process and wait for a response.
      That being said, that doesn't mean that somebody else won't move in on your frequency.
      The space for FT8 is 3khz wide, and each FT8 signal is 50hz, that leaves room for 60 (practically 40-50) QSOs to be in progress - and there are plenty of other bands... so there is lots of room.
      Hope that helps

    What cable did you use to connect your phone to your radio

    • @temporarilyoffline

      Just a regular USB with the necessary adapters. Depending on what radio, you might need an OTG or On The Go cable so that your phone is host and not looking for a host

    Is anyone else concerned about installing executables from China?

    • @temporarilyoffline
      @temporarilyoffline  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There's from "China" and then there is from "A Person (In China)" which is the case here. Either way, its voluntary and many people have used it without any known issues. It can be used without an internet connection, on a $25 burner phone from walmart, using a fake google account (or none, since its an APK download). To be fair, if you're worried about spying, the US Government is doing it... and so is google, apple, microsoft, etc. We aren't safe/free anymore.
