I’ve been selling on Etsy since January of 2017 and I’ve seen these changes too. I’ve also had a strange experience with them. To make a long story short- I sold my photography and calligraphy items in the same store and it’s done well over the years but a year ago I decided I would separate them and have 2 stores. I did everything right by linking them together and all that. I moved the photos into their own shop and kept the calligraphy in my old one. Well in May after having the second shop for 8-9 months I get an email that said I was going against rules in the photo shop and that I can dispute it but if they say no then it’s “closed forever and I can no longer sell or SHOP on Etsy”. So I disputed it and it came back immediately like a real person didn’t even look it over. What I did wrong was never explained and I still don’t know but I don’t even think I did anything wrong. It was just a shop with photo downloads and I had all 5 stars and no reports. Anyway. Of course we know Etsy has zero customer service for sellers so there was nothing I could do. They just randomly closed my shop with no valid reason. The strange part is my original shop with the calligraphy is still fine so the “never sell or shop on Etsy again” is obviously not true. It was very weird and when I was searching around I found so many people that happened to. They just wake up and Etsy closes their shop for no good reason. It’s disheartening. I want to find somewhere else to sell my calligraphy but I haven’t found anywhere good yet.
@@Courtney6 I’m so sorry that happened to you! Running amok of the rules is definitely a fear of any seller and is another downside to being a seller within a larger platform!
And there is definitely more human oversight needed! I left this out for brevity’s sake, but I’ve had cases opened before for reason unrelated to damages or missing items and Etsy has automatically issued refunds. 😅
@@lydiacarnsThey really do need accessible customer service for sellers. I really think they sent an AI bot loose on the site and I was a victim of it. lol. It sounds ridiculous but it seemed like such a scam situation but it was actually real. That sucks about the refunds!
