Because of this video, I used exactly the same cleaning technique on my Arp Odyssey panel the other day. It has the same rough paint that is apparently designed to hold onto as much dirt as possible. The only paintbrush I had was a crappy little flimsy one, but that plus a sponge was more than adequate. I would have had no idea how to get it clean if it wasn't for you. You're a gentleman and a scholar.
So much dedication, love it! I repair synths as well, but wouldn‘t be able to repair, explain and film at the same time. So, cudos for putting this nice video together! By the way, the key mechanism looks like it is the same with the Moog Rogue.
Interesting. The screen printing on your example is about 1mm - 1.5mm too far to the right. Wouldn’t you think by the time this keyboard was made they would have been able to nail that exact.
In regards to the glue, I did the same to mine. After about 10 minutes I grabbed my heat gun and found out it's hot glue. Just a little heat and it popped right out!
adam armstrong I wish I'd thought of that! Yes it turns out it not a polyurethane glue, which is what a used to put it back together. Next time I will definitely use the heat gun! Thanks!
Heck of a Job. Looks great. Do you know how to fix double trigger issue on the keyboard? I've tried everything but keyboard contacts seem to be really tired on mine. Thanks
This is a fantastic series of videos. Can the switches be taken apart and cleaned too? The ones on my Prodigy are really stiff when I move them from side to side.
+SlowCarToChina I have the same problem on my 808, I can't get the slide switches to loosen up. Slide switches are generally difficult to get out of the circuit board because there are so many pins underneath that you have to heat at the same time. There was probably some grease in them when they were first made, but that soon goes once something uses a solvent to clean them. It would be nice to put the ease back in but I have never done it.
Hey there, I have a question. I would like to repair the paint on my Ms-20- It's a metal surface and black painted but there are few scratches where the paint came off. What should I do and what should I use to repair it?
Mine was the same. I installed the CV/Gate inputs myself. The instructions on how to do it were actually written by moog in a service note which was later reproduced by Norlin. If you search for Norlin moog prodigy service manual you should find it on the web. It's actually not to difficult to do, so it shouldn't cost much if you got someone else to do it.
I'm amazed at the time you're willing to spend restoring these machines...shows how much love you have for them...kudos

Nice!!
Thanx for sharing! :)
Thanks a lot for the videos have learned an awful lot
How did you manage to get the glue off the metal in the first place? I'm struggling to figure this one out.

Babyblue57 Does it happen on all keys? Does the second trigger happen when the key is released, or is it before that?

I have a Prodigy too but its a early model without CV gate interface. Do you know how much it costs to install a CV gate?
