Well, I am 8 years too late but I would like to thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial. There is something very relaxed and kind about your speaking too which made me more patient to learn the exercises so thanks love!

Thank you. 52 years old and just began playing the violin after years of piano. One week in and struggling with the bow bouncing as it gets further and further from the frog. Hope these exercises will help. Once again, thank you. Here I go again. :)

I thought about Heifetz' suggestion to take long bow strokes to warm up. I did this yesterday and realized how valuable this practice is. Today I decided to work on string changes. When I came to your lesson I realized this was a divine appointment. I like it. Will review your other material.

Wow, I just stumbled onto this video, and realize this video was posted over 5 years ago, but I have to say your bow warm up routine seems to be exactly what I need right now. As a self taught adult that plays winds and other instruments, and now rapidly progressing into advanced beginner territory on violin, I expect this bow warm up will
    help me tremendously. Thank You!

Violin Viola Masterclass - Thanks for the tip👍. I’ll look for the book and buy it. Right now I’m doing the Rubank first etude album, some assorted beginner solos, concertinos, etc. luckily, I read treble clef well. Other clefs, help!
In the process of trying to command all scales in first position, branching out with some minor scales and flat scales moving towards the less easy and trying to branch out into third on the easy scales. Even trying to improve technique with some simple fiddle tunes, lol. The bowing is so much a part of violin, it deserves as much attention as the rest. Thanks again!😎👨🏻

I chose the violin even though the viola sounds so nice and deep, mainly because I think the music scores are hard to find unless it is an accompaniment. Is there a good source for the sheet music for viola?

*You are my favourite violin teacher on TH-cam already Amber🎶🎻👍 💖💖💖*
*Truly delightful informative and above all fun..🏄☝😊*
I'm self-taught on a variety of instruments through listening to records mainly (though I also read music and know theory), and I learnt through ear training/singing/whistling/scatting what one plays...kind of my own Suzuki Method.
My own method which I call..relying on largely on interval training.
    *VLI = Voice Led Improvisation*
    *👼Works on any instrument!☺*
My secret for making rapid progress (& bypassing the inner critic 😆) is summed up as follows...

Can I reveal a Wish ? In my next Life, I will marry a Girl Violinist. She will play the Violin and I will do the cooking.

Hi. My teacher has told me, “more pressure at the tip and less at the frog.” To practice the feel for this, you can slightly lift your first finger when near the frog and slightly lift your 2nd, 3rd, and pinky fingers when you are near the tip. Don’t play like this, it’s just to get a feel for the more pressure vs less pressure.

    • @AnaViolinViola
      @AnaViolinViola 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi, I just read your comment and I am a violin/viola teacher....I usually ask my students to attach the shoulder rest to the widest part (at the back ) of the instrument from both sides, with the wider part of it against the chin rest :)

Oh my god, do I need this. I've been teaching myself (which, heh. Yeah) for a little over two months now and I am still hitting strings. Thank you. Thank you SO much! 💛 Ohh by the way, my E string often sounds really bad! Like.. piercing and wobbly? Does that make sense? I am probably bowing it wrong, but it's only the E string sounding really bad. Do you have any idea of what that could be? I realise it's probably impossible to determine from a comment, but i thought it might be worth asking 😅 i will try that triangle thing though. I'm sure that will help. 😊
