Criticizing this video is totally uncalled for. It’s such a PRIVILEGE to be able to see this patrician artist as well as hear her (the Don Giovanni is lip-synced). Her singing was effortless and lovely, even at age 54. No wobble in this voice. I’m sorry to say, this type of singing is now extinct. Our loss.
Vielen Dank.
The critic Harold Rosenthal described her Bayreuth Elsa as the most moving he had ever heard, surpassing Lemnitz. Her partnership with Konya was one of the past war greats.
I do not really agree. Her partnership with Konya was a pity and a shame 'cause Wieland should have made her sing with Windgassen as Lohengrin. That would have been the most heavenly couple!
I never saw Grummer, but she is perfect singer for lighter Wagner. Elsa’s Dream isn’t in this clip, but she is virtually the only soprano who sings what Wagner wrote - that is, there are dotted notes and march rhythms, which almost everyone else ignores. They sing triplets and eighths to smooth out the line. But listening to Grummer is like a lesson in proper singing.

The personification of pureness and tenderness. The voice is a prayer by itsself. Sheer beauty.
Danke ! Herrn Bettau kann man nur zustimmen !
Her voice springs from heaven. A truly amazing singer.

Nice to finally see her. Amazingly beautiful especially considering that she was already in her mid-50s by then.

Toll! Voluminös und dabei klar und warm
I love the Grümmer for me the best Eva,Agathe and also Marschallin etc.!

Please upload the whole concert.
I wish that would be possible. I long for a "Lohengrin" with elisabeth Grümmer and Wolfgang Windgassen, together at last...

The best German lyric soprano. But the orchestra is terrible.
Its an old recording!
The woodwinds are a mess
