Now, suppose a similar scenario takes place with the current U.K./Rwanda deal, with capital already outlayed for infrastructure for the said migrants. Who really wins? Our country attracks migrants from all over Africa. My heart goes out to most of these people. Unfortunately, a lot of criminal elements also enters our country - Human traffickers, gangs and syndicates. The migrants don't pay taxes, open street shops and work for lesser wages than the locals. Our people loses their jobs due to this and a lot of xenophobia exists
There is al lot at stake. Nothing is just plain straightforward humanitarian rights. There is a lot of negative things that accompany these issues and the ones that really needs help, gets branded as criminals along with the culprits.

This is very confusing Palki. I am a such a fan of this channel and you but this story is very confusing. I think Britain like all countries cannot always be expected to uphold human rights and civil rights. Its bursting at the seams to support immigrants and asylum seekers. What about similar situation in India with respect to Bangladeshis or Rohingyas. Its such a botched up policy in India we don't know what really happens to immigrants and asylum seekers. They just wander in and there is just civil outrage but in the end corruption and backdoor processes is what wins with no accountability as to who deserved to get in legally and who needs to be deported.

As immigrant indian to the west myself I always am for legal proceesses however painful it is for immigrants. It took me decades of paperwork to legally immigrate but I would vote for that then sneaking across the border or haphazard opaque policies that goes on in India.
