Consoles have reached their limit. Especially when talking about graphics. If games are still running at 30 fps on the PS6? I'm pretty much finished with console gaming. PC gaming is something I've wanted to switch for a long time. But I'm just waiting for the right opportunity to get a decent PC build.
I’m pleased with mine, Spider-Man 2, F1 and Forbidden West look great on a 120hz OLED. I think it will come into its own when newer games are made on it from the ground up
This is my little concern lol : how many games will really be made for the Pro when they still have to run on the base PS5 ? I don’t doubt the best experience will definitely be on the Pro from now on but it’s still the same generation.
I absolutely agree the current state of the pro in general, is underwhelming. However, machine learning will become a bigger factor moving forward this gen. PSSR has already proven to be better than FSR2 so I expect 1st party titles to looking amazing in the next 12 to 18 months. The extra 2gb of DDR5 leaving the 16gb GDDR6 mostly for graphics is good. Also, the pro does come with a usb c cable. Maybe you lost it , or yours was missing? I really like my pro, but I'm a hardcore gamer and can see it's not to everyone's taste and expense.

Yeah. Digital Foundry is defending this machine, because of the potential. However, they also find the price a problem. Especially in the EU. I’m so happy i didn’t buy a pro. I would feel scammed.
It's a slight upgrade. Gotta love the "generational leap" nonsense by some of these channels. Instead of spending money on this, I bought a 4tb Samsung 990 SSD that was on sale for 300 bucks. What a steal! Blazing fast speeds. Finallly have all my games installed.
As I still own a PlayStation 4 Pro so this seems a logical path for me, I get there isn't a drive and I agree that is unfortunate but the technical features it has over the base model and the extra storage trade off against this in my opinion and I'll just pick a drive up further down the line.
Hey Maurice, the cable part is strange. The cable was present on the Digital Foundry unboxing (and it was a UK and European version). You should check that with the store you bought the PS5

I dunno what people expected really. If you could tell differences between Fidelity and Performance modes and you wanted that Performance mode but with Fidelity mode quality...That's pretty much what you getting.
Looks a consumer test bed for the PS6. I think Sony don’t want to push too much on the Pro as they would hurt the Slim sales, guess that’s why the big price difference. 2025 will have REAL Pro games that pull away from standard Slim ones. Best to wait if you have the Slim or original PS5.
But games of this generation still have to run correctly on base PS5 and even the Series S for that matter… so the Pro will probably never be used at its full potential. It will be the best console experience yes but to what point ? This is why I’m more reluctant to wait for the PS6.
I'm having the same opinion. I keep switching back and forth between my standard ps5 and the pro and it feels like the same expirience. I'm old, so I don't remember if this is how it was when I got the ps4 pro but I feel like it was a larger improvement from the standard one at the time. I can still return it but I'm not sure if I should yet
"30% better graphics" is generous. I'd say more like 15% from most of what I've seen and it depends on the game. People are saying TH-cam compression doesn't do it "justice", but then how come I can notice a huge difference on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth but nothing on Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered? I'd say it's good for poorly optimised games on the base PS5 but that's about it.
Horizon doesn't use pssr in its pro mode I think they use their own solution to sharpen the game. The boost to under performing games has kinds gone under the radar but it's definitely worth a considering if you want the extra power. The average player probably won't benefit from spending the money on it though.

Maybe over two years or maybe the really shitty looking UE5 games all get patched and the pro can show what it can. But looking to games like Alan Wake 2 i don’t expecting anything from that. For now the Pro is totally unneccesary and a complete fail.
I think the main reason for ps5 pro is gta 6 the sales of the pro model will go up the closer we get to the release of the game and maybe even there will be a bundle deal with digital code

Maurice is just one person with an opinion, everyone should have their own opinion and their own opinion is the overriding one. All Maurice is doing here is expressing what he thinks, not what everyone is thinking. Remember that. What Maurice appears to forget is what the PRO’s purpose is, which is to fix the majority of small dips and issues in PS5 titles and improve graphics quality, incremental improvements. The pro will get us to next Gen whereas vanilla Ps5 and series x may start to struggle, I mean, look at series s, it’s already hanging on for dear life. The only negative is the price which in the UK/EU is steep, but I have to say, the US price is cheap in comparison.

I tried the pro out for the weekend. I just can’t justify $700 to keep it so I’ll be returning it. I’ll stick to my original ps5 until the ps6.

Mine came with the USB c to USB c cable in Canada. I know because I traded in my original ps5 cable with the system towards the pro

Well you don't need a PS5 pro to even play GTA6 it will also be on Xbox Series S for 1/3th of the price to play the same game.
