as a note: there's a lot of discussions of race and politics in this video and i did my best to try to explain the political oppressive mechanisms behind race and systemic racism. i hope it comes off okay! i don't want to offend folks, feel free to share thoughts or critiques

A bit sad to have to pre-emptively apologise... I would hope that people could watch and see your overall intention and be able to respond with grace and education rather than take offense where they *know* none is intended

In my family we have our own phrase (at least I think nobody else uses it, lol) for toxic positivity, it translates to "harmony addiction". That compulsion to not be _the one that disturbed the peace_ and spoiled a comfortable mood, that leads to problems being swept under the rug and resentment to build. I think the goal is to get rid of the corrosive part, but cultivate the basic impulse to not be careless with people and relationships. Still working on it :D

i may start using that term too!

your family has their own phrase? "Harmony addiction?" that's amazing. My family's phrase would be something far less polite LOL! 😘

As someone who just finished their thesis on multicultural identity and had to research a ton about race vs ethnicity vs perceived vs inner identity, I have to say you absolutely nailed the section on race being a construct on a political scale. Also props to your discussion on people on the moderate perspective, really educational. Would love to just sit and chat with you for hours haha even though I found your channel because of bts, I'm learning a lot about other artists and niches of the industry through your other videos. Keep it up :)

this talk about toxic positivity gave me flashbacks to the person i was in 2013-2016 (not that I'm entirely over it either)

This was very interesting, I knew a whole lot of nothing about Logic. Regarding his weak sauce approach to race relations, not being a biracial person myself and with a phenotype that is unambiguously of African decent, I can only imagine there is a sense of loyalty those that are "passing" feel toward their eurocentric half. I'm sure it's very difficult to be completely transparent and raw about injustices without feeling as though you're admonishing ppl you love AND yourself. We all have our crosses to bare tho.

very well put. we do all have our crosses to bare and we have to bare them with dignity

comment for engagement lol. this video was solid & thoughtful, and props for the way you extended compassion to logic as a person while still calling out the harm and bullshit inherent in both sides, aggressively centrist, “racism against white people” attitudes. will definitely check out the rest of your work

This is the final video of your catalog I’ve watched and I gotta say… You did an awesome job, Elliot. Behind your video on the music industry, this has to be my second favorite video of yours. Your compassion, criticism, and humor of discussing these complex topics on Logic is impeccable. I have more to say, but I’m going to stop here (kinda lol)😅🤘🏾
P.S. - I hope a lot of folks made it to the end. You said A LOT OF IMPORTANT THINGS😅‼️

just found your channel, i really appreciate the conversation you had about the bi-racial experience, oppression, political "moderates", as well as the analysis of logic's toxic positivity; i found it really insightful and thought you approached it with a really nuanced point of view, thanks for making such a good vid! can't wait to see you hit 10k, you absolutely deserve it :)

I'm not even a fan of Logic, I've never been either, but I'm so glad I clicked on this video. The breakdown at the end of the video was spot on. I'm such a fan of your videos, thank you for sharing your thoughts!

This is the most fascinating video I’ve ever seen. I like that you not only talked about Logic but delved deeper into race. As a biracial person now I’m even questioning whether I should use that word anymore or am I just contributing to whiteness lol. Your video essay really got me thinking about a lot of stuff, I know I’m gonna watch this video again and again which isn’t very common for me so your video is quite special to say the least. More people need to see this! I will make sure to share ❤ I reckon non-Logic fans will also find this video really interesting. Thanks!
