I am already a fan of hers. Her voice is a heaven -sent gift. , her songs, wonderful. Her guitar technique, unique. OH, we are so lucky to have her around. I met her in person in Badalona, Barcelona.( Spain ) a few weeks ago. She is such a kind person, too.It takes lots of work to bring up a talented child like this without spoiling her . God bless her parents for this jewel of a person. Good job, all along! As for you, Aoife, looking forward to seeing you around here again soon. I will be the one who will shout " we love you, Aoife!" in the public, this time. GOOD LUCK! and thanks!!!!
I've posted on several Sara Watkins/Sarah Jarosz/Aoife O'Donovan vids, but I've yet to say this; I love the faces Aoife makes when singing. It cracks me up, and is just so pure and natural.
Yes, she embodies what she's voicing - perhaps the difference between 'singing' music and 'making music'? Another exemplar is Emily Frantz of 'Mandolin Orange.'
Definitely agree. I also love Aoife's facial expressions she makes while singing. I think it shows her complete immersion in the songs, and personalizes and makes her performances even more evocative.
So original - Joni Mitchel cover? or such an interpreter- Joni Mitchell cover. Actually I think that a person of the calibre, musical heritage, training, superb singing voice, and splendid guitar playing as Aoife O'Donovan shows the absolute genius and innovation of Joni Mitchell.
Aoife is the best!! Whether it's solo, in I'm With Her, or in Crooked Still, she is a joy to behold. I've been blessed to have seen her live several dozen times, many times in the front row. I try never to miss her when she is nearby. If you haven't seen her, fix that! God bless you Aoife!
Aditya Nemlekar You do know that she did not write the first song.Im not sure who did.It has been around for many, many years. Not sure but the last song may be one she wrote. She is very good!
I think when Paul Brady did this song anyone who heard his version should just forget about singing it on stage.Maybe at home.Seagulls are not crappy guitars by the way.
She's using her index figure to pick upwards only, so only the front of the nail. She sometimes catches two or three strings on the up-pick, which gives that strumming sound.
I'm super amateur, so don't treat this as fact! [Capo 4] The whole song is in a G shape with the ring finger on the third of the B string. Then, each verse keeps that shape with the following walking bass line G - G - A - B - C - F# - G - G G - F# - E - F# - G - G - C - C G - F# - E - F# - G - G - C - C G - G - A - B - C - F# - G - G So it's like, an ABBA form throughout the song. Sometimes on the first and last lines, it looks like she does a quick D pluck and then jumps to F# But if you want the actual chords, something like this may help ya tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/paul-brady/the-lakes-of-pontchartrain-chords-1721579
I've had an S6 acoustic-electric spruce top cutaway for a few years now and love it. Seagulls are definitely not crappy guitars -- sure, not the same as a vintage Gibson or the Collings she currently plays (= $thousands!), but very decent instruments and good value.
To each their own. I don't see it nor hear it with this young woman's whispery, rangeless, uncharismatic voice. And I thought Shakira was a bad singer. Maybe it is a millennial thing, little talent, little effort, large reward.

Beautiful. She really reminds me of Suzanne Vega in her early years, especially in the second song. I'm so glad to have found Aoife.
Wow! I'm so stunned. this singer sounds and looks so so so much like a younger Mary Chapin Carpenter! I can't get enough of this artists music!

One of my very favorite singer/songwriters....absolutely beautiful !
Aoife has the most natural beauty and talent of any female vocalist! Keep it up Beautiful!!!
I just discovered her today! So original! I love her Joni Mitchell covers. I want to hear more!

This is so inspiring. Gives me hope that if maybe, MAYBE I practice 6 hours a day for 2 months before a show, I can play as well as her :)
How did you do?Answer please.
Sarah Spencer And You Rock Sara Spencer! Transported by Aoife, YA YA.

Wow was having a rough day till I heard this. The woman is a genius - stunning vocals and songwriting. Thanks for posting!

raytheprinter Lakes of Ponchartrain (first song) I believe it's traditional.
Rambling Versatile I love Paul Bradys cover of this wonderful tune
The best singer in America.
Best Singer / Songwriter/ Composer
Beautifully authentic!
Great study points for other aspiring players.
Both really really nice songs. Really like glowing heart. Great lyrics and she performs it great. Keep doing your thing Aoife! Great stuff.
Your guitar play and your voice work fantastic together!!!! Greetings from Bavaria :D Tina
Simply awesome 😊🎉🎉
Beautiful song, I closed my eyes and felt peace all over my body
I couldn’t love you more Aoifa!
Amazing voice, got to love this woman.

Amazing! I loved it!!!!
She is the freakin best
Pure talent
Damn i love i ran across this. Well done

I already love Paul Brady's version of this, Aoife's is a more than excellent alternative.
Wow I love her
Ethereal , just effortless perfection .
She’s amazing in every way. Love the Tunes she’s written for Alison Krauss also.
Ben Jammin what tunes? That’s awesome
I like how her singing voice is really sweet and clear but her talking voice is quite deep (not in a manly way though) and raspy
That practice paid off! fingerpicking you have to do at least three separate things plus the singing!
I've seen her live with Noam Pikelny, she is really talented.
Mistertbones I’m about to see them in April I’m so excited
great..great..great..
oh man I want one!
An absolute siren
Anyone managed to tab her guitar lick yet? I love it, been looking for fast 3/4 pick and hers definitely fits the bill.
Je suis en france mais j'adore votre feeling
Corrigeons ça : "Je suis en France ET j'adore votre feeling" :)
As good as it gets.
I just fell in love again,
A nice mention of Tim O'Brien!
Niceee!
Can any guitarists explain her "2-finger" picking style? Is she using both the backs and fronts of her nail?
She's using her index figure to pick upwards only, so only the front of the nail. She sometimes catches two or three strings on the up-pick, which gives that strumming sound.
Thank you!
can someone please trim the video with only the clip of her singing Glowing Heart and upload it?
Can someone help me with the chord progressions she is using, especially on the instrumental part. Thanks!
I'm super amateur, so don't treat this as fact!

She had a Seagull! Woo hoo! I bet it wasn't just a "crappy old" guitar :)
I want some of North beauty

Aoife, do a song with John Moreland? maybe?
Guitar tutorial?
Indigo girls influence in there.
it is traditional, but the be good tanyas version is best, I think
The new Joni.
7:30. So that’s how you pronounce her name. 🤔
EE-fuh. Common Irish name, means beauty.
D'aww, Seagulls ain't crappy

I want to marry!

Rip and you don’t like Shakira either? Surely you Jest!
Your point would have been better made without the baseless shot at millennials.
And for clarity, I think she is an amazing artist with an impeccable voice.
