Alexander Gauci Yes indeed their english is far above italian average... i am so ashamed for how weak most of us are at english... sometimes when i see interviews of them in italian i notice that they sometimes tend to think in english or spanish because of the years spent abroad getting the success they always deserved and they are only now having at home. it makes me so sad! So i was very surprised 2 days ago when i saw the press conference and Gianluca said that "Piero has the most lyric voice"... that makes no sense in english, but in italian "lirico" means "operatic"... since it's impossible that a professional singer who has worked in America for the last 4 years doesn't know this, from that detail i could see how nervous they are... i love how they are playing it cool, but i bet they do feel under pressure... if only i could hug them and tell them that they are personified epicness regardless of how they will rank in the end!
E Lisa Well, I am Maltese. I've been learning English since I was 6 (now I'm 23) and I still think in Maltese. And sometimes I even think in Italian first before I think in English. So I admire these guys a lot. It's not easy to learn a language, let alone speak it spontaneously.

It's not ignorance - it's a nice question :) So, in Malta every child learns Maltese and English since the first year of primary school and it is compulsory until the end of secondary school. Italian is only taught from secondary schools onwards, but only if the student chooses it. However quite a few Maltese people know Italian through television, because we get the main Italian channels for free in every household. I cannot say that every Maltese is fluent in English and our accent doesn't come close to the British one, even that of most of the teachers. On the other side, Italian is not spoken fluently by many but good enough if you consider that most of us learn many of it through television. However we have quite a few good Maltese professors of Italian in sixth form and University. For example my professor has a doctorate in Italian and he speaks fluently and with a very Italian accent. I plan to continue Italian at University now and hope to go through a Masters course as well

The song might be good and they are great singers but sure they miss to impress me in interviews. They are too dry and need to give more out to the people that are watching.

E Lisa Ok I have not check out the press conference but I've checked lot of interviews. Both in Vienna,after Sanremo festival and also interviews 1-2 years ago and they don't impress me sorry. Just compare them in interviews to John Karayiannis from Cyprus. Huge difference.
