Hats off to you for that! Unfortunately, too many did the opposite, which put O'Brien in a _deeply_ awkward situation. That's pretty bad, and obviously, O'Brien's not an idiot, and would never do that. Unfortunately, unions have in-house politics to consider as well, and endorsing Harris _against_ the outcome of that in-house vote would send a really bad message to (and about) union democracy. If he swings the union weight for Harris, that +60% is going to vote his butt out of a job. As a Union Member for over two decades, I call BS!!!! IT'S RACIST MEMBERS, PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!! RACISM IS A NATIONAL SECURITY ISSUE!! I know someone has calculated the " people and economic" cost of racism in our nation. Let's have a national discussion about the findings.
Look up the book, "The Soul of America; the Battle for Our Better Angels". It goes into detail about how racism still has far too much influence in America due to America's history of slavery.
I was a Teamster for a couple of decades. That's because my union, the Graphic Communications International Union joined with the Teamsters in 2004. We became the Graphic Communications Conference within the Teamsters. Last year, 2023, O'Brien and his cohort wanted to take over all our locals and ended up pushing us right out of the Teamsters. Very surprising to the rank and file, as it seemed to be a leaders vs leaders struggle. Now we are the PPPWU. And the feckin' Teamsters are raiding our locals. Raiding locals, one of the lowest thing a union can do. (That is, trying to get locals to abandon our union in favor of theirs. And get their dues and contracts, etc.) So to hell with O'Brien, I hope our brothers and sisters in the Teamsters get rid of him in favor of a real leader like the UAW has.
Imagine that! One guy stands shoulder to shoulder with your members on the bucket line. The other laughs out loud at your members being dismissed at the drop of a hat and you have an issue with whom to lend your support? REALLY? REALLY?

I cant imagine going home and looking my wife and kid in the eyes and saying "i mean sure we could have better job security and better pay but.... im a racist......and thats much more important than our well being!".... The deep seeded hatred that white men have is appalling.
@@nicklazzaro5055 I don't quite get it. If 60% of his membership was telling him to endorse the orange idiot, then by NOT endorsing him, isn't he sending the opposite message?
Liberal here..... so happy to make sure teamsters never see another vote from any of my elected leaders again as long as i live.... its time leadership starts INTERVIEWING people. I dont care if they can screw in a screw.... many people can. They need to start hiring PRO UNION people. Enough with this uneducated white man BS.
The Teamsters membership demo is 60% white, and 60% male. There is a faction within union membership that doesn’t like the demographics of the coming decades that they will not be the majority. There is also a faction of union members that have issues with non white and non male supervision or leadership.
Something is wrong with this story. One party opposes your existence, and the other is generally supportive. It shouldn't be too difficult for any dumb bunny to sort out.
But it's not entirely O'Brien's choice to make. 60% of his membership were demanding that he endorse Trump. Going _directly_ against that vote, and endorsing Harris instead would be politically disastrous for him. _Not_ endorsing either is acknowledging that fact. If he was just going along with the bigoted (union-busting) deplorables, he'd just do as they told him to do.
No, he's not. When Bernie refused to endorse Biden...was he endorsing Trump ? Bernie held out until he could get a commitment from Biden to work with Bernie on issues. O'Brien is doing the same thing
Love the word " Tacitly " means in a way that is understood or implied without being directly stated. Need new leaders kamala and a new Teamsters leader.
@@terryowen6759 I agree. (And also, not entirely.) I think with that 60% internal vote, he only had two options. He couldn't directly oppose the internal vote. It would send a bad message about union democracy. All he could do is, do what the (ignorant) member vote told him to do, or do nothing, and spin it as "holding everybody's feet to the fire." The latter _isn't_ tacitly endorsing Trump. If anything, it's the opposite. His unspoken message is, "if the membership tell me I have to do something against the interest of the entire union, I'm not going to do that. But I also want to keep my position, and 60% can vote me out of my seat."
Nope. An endorsement is an endorsement. When O'Brien literally steps up and endorses Trump, then he's endorsing Trump. It's disappointing that someone like that refuses to endorse someone who's supporting the unions as Harris and Walz does when that someone literally works for a union but until they make an endorsement then they haven't made one.
I don't think it was a betrayal. I was a Teamster for years. As a liberal, the last Labor Day picnic I would ever want to attend would be with Teamsters. They seem to have a disproportionate share of deplorables in their ranks, more than any other union I've seen.
100% agree. These are people who like benefitting off the backs of pro labor but wanna run to kiss the ring of republicans who take credit for pro labor. Ill be the first to say (as a liberal) if the Teamsters pensions ever need funding again in my lifetime ill be out campaigning making sure Dems do not give them what theyre looking for. We can remember all other unions BUT theres. A union thats not pro worker lolololol what a fkn clown show that union is.
THEY are good old white boys; but the joke is on them. They've just lost the respect of every other UNION! I'd call them Trumper Scabs! If trump wins which he won't, they will be always remembered as union shop pussies!
Standing next to Zelensky in Kiev, US Senator Lindsey Graham said the West must keep sending weapons to Ukraine, because “they’re sitting on a trillion dollars worth of minerals that could be good to our economy”.
Sean O’Brien as president I believe he should call out Trump for what he is an insurrectionist. That’s a sign of a true leader. no matter what his members may think.
While I agree, that would be awesome, it would also lose him his seat. That deplorable 60% that wanted a Trump endorsement could vote him out in a heartbeat, and replace him with the worst among them. I don't know enough about O'Brien to say this for certain, but it seems to me that not endorsing at all is quite the _opposite_ of actually endorsing Trump, no matter what the orange idiot might think.
Standing next to Zelensky in Kiev, US Senator Lindsey Graham said the West must keep sending weapons to Ukraine, because “they’re sitting on a trillion dollars worth of minerals that could be good to our economy”.
The regional teamsters have endorsed Harris/Walz. Guess Mr O'Brien has a little lack of support problem. How's that Labor Secretary job looking so far?

I hope that the Teamsters will realize that if Trump wins his project 2025 will take away their pensions and and health care and end Unions! Teamsters do your research and vote for your own interests!! 🗳💙🇺🇸🗳💙🇺🇸
Speaking as a Teamster, I'm disappointed that they didn't endorse Harris. But there is one thing I didn't see in the video that might give some extenuating circumstances to this decision. The internal poll they took of members went significantly in favor of trump. My guess is that lots of us union workers think that just because we work hard for our pay that means we are self made and not in debt to the democratic policies that allowed us to be in these privileged positions. So, while I wish they endorsed Harris, this is better than following the membership poll and endorsing trump. Personally, I can't wait until we have someone strong enough in leadership to tell the members that republicans would be just as happy to outlaw unions and fire them for demanding safe work environments. Someone willing to buck the poll completely and tell their members they will be better off voting blue.
That is why Fein did what he did and pointed out Trump is clearly anti-Union. He went against unions on right to work and did not picket with UAW strikers.
Personally i want them to bust your union because its the only way youre going to learn. I cant even imagine doing this to someone who cast the deciding vote on your pensions. The level of disrespect is just appalling. Teamsters need their entire union overthrown. Theyre bringing in too many disgruntled racists who are now more interested in supporting their racism than their economic interests. Whats leadership doing? NOTHING. Hiring more disgruntled middle aged white men. DESPICABLE.
So, the "leadership" of the teamsters is doing a shitty job, when it comes to telling people what's going on? Yes, people should do their own research, but we all know, many just don't. No Union member who knows how anti-union Trump is, should support him.
The Teamsters Union needs to do a better job educating its members about what a Trump administration following the 0Project 2025 playbook intend to do to their futures.

Yeah there’s an almost $3 million lawsuit against teamsters and O’Brien for discrimination. No brainer
Sean O'brien shouldn't be in the job for much longer.
The organization of retired teamsters endorsed Harris Walz and were at the DNC.
And get their dues and contracts, etc.)
So to hell with O'Brien, I hope our brothers and sisters in the Teamsters get rid of him in favor of a real leader like the UAW has.
The UAW is the best union next to rail workers union I believe.
Something definitely smells at the top, love the UAW leader he seems to believe in what it's all about and is getting things done for his folks.
O'Brien just saying the quiet part out loud
Imagine that! One guy stands shoulder to shoulder with your members on the bucket line. The other laughs out loud at your members being dismissed at the drop of a hat and you have an issue with whom to lend your support? REALLY? REALLY?
Your forever a teamsters brother.
Biden was THE MOST pro union democrat President in history, I think.
FDR would like a word.
You don't need to think he was, when it's an absolute fact that he was.
@@profanepersonality I think, even FDR would admit, that Joe Biden went even further, than FDR did.
@@dfuher968 FDR literally sent in the National Guard to protect union workers on strike...

The deep seeded hatred that white men have is appalling.
Makes you wonder, doesn't it?
He's one of the old time union leaders that ruined the Unions. " what's in it for me?" Not for my sister and brothers in the union.
and playing too much hardball with the only people who have been supportive at all.
@@nicklazzaro5055 I don't quite get it. If 60% of his membership was telling him to endorse the orange idiot, then by NOT endorsing him, isn't he sending the opposite message?
Retired Teamster here. So disappointed that Teamster leadership can’t distinguish the importance of this election. He should grow a pair!
The Democrats saved the Teamsters from insolvency by providing 36 billion in bailout money, that alone is worth an endorsement
WOW!!! THANK you for that but of trivia - definitely agree!
O'Brian was probably promised a cabinet position by tRump.
That is what is being rumored - Dept of Labor.
Oh, yes.
Probably Chief of Staff🤣
The Teamsters membership demo is 60% white, and 60% male. There is a faction within union membership that doesn’t like the demographics of the coming decades that they will not be the majority. There is also a faction of union members that have issues with non white and non male supervision or leadership.
TRUTH, BROTHER! A LOT OF THEM ARE UNEDUCATED AND AFRAID.
@mikes-wv3em and very racist even to vote a man laughing at Elon musk terrorising them
@@mikes-wv3em Yep! But their fear is misdirected.
Union leaders are responsible to educate, and fight for their members no matter what.
No one is surprised - that's in very large part his base. So the union is reflecting exactly what you described.
But racism is such a driving force in white America that even in the teamsters they'll endorse the racist overwhelming pro-union candidate
@@Kaotiqua maybe you ought to do a better job of educating your membership.

By not endorsing Harris/Walz Sean O'Brien is endorsing trump.
SICKENING

@@KathleenHammett-hr1gy 👏👏👏👏👏💕💕💕💕 Well said!!
I don't think it was a betrayal. I was a Teamster for years. As a liberal, the last Labor Day picnic I would ever want to attend would be with Teamsters. They seem to have a disproportionate share of deplorables in their ranks, more than any other union I've seen.
Plus Obrien sold teamsters at Yellow under the bridge.
UAW probably is more diverse too.
Massive fan of Shives here and Dollemore. I could not be happier.
For context, it would be unheard of for a British Trade Union leader to endorse the Conservative Party in our General Election.
Welcome Steve!
You are among FAMILY!!!
A big, crazy, smooth-brained family.
If your union head isn't condemning Republican anti-union "policies", his hand is in the cookie jar.
He could really learn from the head of the UAW who had zero problems with letting it be known!💯
Oh no says Sean O'Brien thinking as a man from 1800s. A woman wants to be President.
That's not it...

Honestly, I am not surprised by what the Teamsters President is doing or the Union as a whole. They tend to be more conservative than other Unions.
A LOT OF MY TEAMSTER BROTHERS ARE ACTUALLY RETARDED.
Hey !! It's fellow Trekkie and fellow Republican and Trump hater Steve !! So cool !!
Good choice for a guest host, Jesse! Good luck in the wilds of Idaho!
