That's a bit exaggerated imo, he did a lot of work on that blade. I do however think Rich should have won. Hook sword should be (first and foremost) light. You don't want such weapons (which is ridiculously sharp on every inch and every corner) to be heavy. You need it to be light and fast, and Dave's sword seemed uncomfortable to wield. I'm not an expert though, the judges are. So I'm sure they had they own reasons for such decision.

Not even the guy himself believed when he was declared the winner!!! Hahhahahahahahahaha For the first time I strongly disagree with the judges! I mean, a heavy and dull sword winning a contest between a model that's supposed to be light and sharp? WTF???
you have got to be kidding me right? the judges, who always criticize weights of weapons, chose a much heavier blade that is barely sharp over one that was razor sharp just because it bent slightly during the strength test? those were tough targets, and technically both blades bent. Rich was the winner, no debate. he made the better blade.
the hook swords are also meant to be light, there exclusively dual wielded and require fast agile movements, a heavier blade would make them harder to swing in there intended way edit: i spent 10 years mastering the hook sword, along with a few other exotic blades, and the hook swords are 100% meant to be light and nimble, flexible but with enough spring in them that you can wobble the blade when you shake it from side to side, that is the ideal blade for this weapon
Not necessarily true. First guy's blade was far more damaged. Sharpening is second to safety, and a bending blade isnt safe. Also you can just sharpen the blade later.
@@michaelo5665 If it won in kill test then its 2:1 so he wins. This weapon is designed for hooking the inside of the body so it has to be hard and do not bend.
@@icom782 I'd love to prove how little steel it takes to hook and cut flesh and bone. Which is what your implying. it was used more often to hook and redirect shields and weapons...
One of the few scenarios where I feel the decision was absolutely incorrect. We had a sharp, light sword that took minor edge damage and a slight bend (that dave himself said was minimal) vs a heavy, blunt sword that took minor edge damage, and the latter won. Plus I'm pretty sure the guy didn't even heat treat right, the metal barely looked like it was heated at all. I'm convinced that if they did the strength test against something solid instead of terracotta, it would have taken serious damage.
hook swords are meant to be very light swords, dual wielded, with fast and agile motions, a heavier blade defeats the purpose of them, fast swords that can quickly disarm or disable an opponent with minimal effort
One of the rare time I disagree with the decision, the other guy outpeform in the sharpness test, and Doug was concerned about the weight and handling ability of the 2nd sword. Unless there is thing not shows in the video, just because he didn't suffer any damage at the strenght test shouldn't allow him to win
I really thought Rich had this. David's sword didn't cut as well and was heavy. A sword that can't cut is not a good sword, and a hook sword is supposed to be light. It smashed through the Terakota because of the added weight, I think.
Hey! Put yourselves together! Who is responsible for this blunder? The thumbnail preview says "Panabas" but the title and content says hook sword. Correct this now.
Yet again they upload historic builds, when all i watch the show for is the first two rounds where they make original weapons. Also if 10.000 Dollars were on the line, i´d built a bigger quench tank knowing that i have to quench a hook sword in it.
That's strange. It's the first result I see that I'm skeptical of. With that many blades on a weapon, maneuverability and recovery seem important. Specially when wielding two and hooking them. I don't recall a heavy blade, that defeats the purpose of the weapon itself, ever trumping a slightly bending blade.
Man as this being one of my favorite weapons ever, the decision is definitely not right. Like even Doug said it was concerning how heavy it is. with a weapon that is strictly one handed... I would thing that that could be a potential safety concern with the blade on the bottom pointing back at you. The whole point of the sword is to have full control of it and the first guy made a beautiful one.

Panabas???
Whoever has been editing these recently has been missing a ton of content. This was missing the kill test, others have just reused a specific scene.
Why does the 2ed guy not like watermelon
That is not fair to be honest, the second guy made a big metal stick.
That's a bit exaggerated imo, he did a lot of work on that blade.

True
Kabal got his weapons
@@IgiWhiteman i believe they should be sturdy enough to block blows from heavier weapons ,so irl I would choose daves version
yea
A very unfair decision, I've never felt the results so unfair with any of the previous contests.
Nope I seen two episodes where two winner had horrible blade and the loser blade came out 10/10 of all test
This decision is absolutely unfair. The guy has a knife that is as sharp as a spoon and that guy wins. Can't find words for this kind of judgment.
Maybe but that isnt as bad as i warp even if its a little.
a blunter blade can be sharpened and even then it still did damage but a warp is a much worse type of damage than dulling or rolling as it effects every aspect of the blade and is harder to fix

WHERE WAS THE KILL TEST?! WE ALL WATCH THESE FOR THE KILL TEST!
YEAH I WANTED TO SEE DOUG KEEL WITH THIS THING
I agree.
Do u mean the KEAL TEST
thats why that guy won,no way it would have passed the kill test
I see it for the KEEL, not the test itself.

I know this is old, but the first guy actually made a good hook sword. The guy that won made a metal club with some sharp-ish edges and a hook.
Guy 1 blade; light, sharp, sturdy
Guy 2 blade; heavy, blunt, big metal stick
The kill test would’ve definitely proved a decisive victor. You guys are great but dropped the ball on this one.
This was one decision that was so wrong. David never should have won
Dave was the most surprised guy in the room that he won.
They didn't include the kill test 🤔 in the kill test his blade destroyed it which is why he won plus he didn't get a bend

Lighter, sharper, faster, slight bend with deformation lost to heavier, dull, no bend with deformation?? Disagree with that decision
Alright guys theres no need for a sharp sword anymore just a big heavy metal stick!😒
First: Where was the kill test? Second: The sword that DID NOT CUT through the tatami matts did win??? WTF???
what the heck! that weirdo shouldn't be a winner, hevier and not sharp enough. first time i dissagree with judges
I firmly disagree with the final decision..
Samrat Chakraborty the winner didn’t even look at the strength test cuz he’s a dweeb. If it was close then the cooler guy should win!
“I don’t like watermelon” Should’ve been an instant dismissal from the forge. Catastrophic failure of judgement
Hey where is the keel test :’(
This is one of those rare situations where the heavier blade WINS. It feels so wrong.
The hook swords were also wielded by the mortal kombat fighter Kabal.
Extremely disappointed they didn't mention how Kabal used these in MK
No mention that they were the weapons used by Kabal in Mortal Kombat 3 (1995), unacceptable!
WHERE IS THE 'KEEL' TEST???? WE WATCH THESE FOR THE KEEL TEST!!!!!!!
The Hook blade, one of the greatest and most iconic weapons in history. Easily one of my favorite swords
No KEAL Test??? Especially a weapon with this sort of magnitude and deadly delivery?? Wow I’m more shocked about that than the first guy not winning.
Imagine doug working for flex seal.
Your tape sir...
It will seal
Knife is made to cut..
The first guy is winner for me...even though he lost..
Who else noticed the wrong thumbnail used? Says “Panabas”
A slight bend led to this wrong decision? The winning blade could not cut even a single target. Disagree with the judges on this
The winning "sword" was more like a club tbh
Make two of em and the matching costume and you got Kabal from Mortal Kombat
Kabal from Mortal Kombat will enjoy this video because he too have hook swords
They forgot to mention that this weapon is used by Kabal from Mortal Kombat
“Today we’ll have a guest test the weapons out.” Kabal walks in.
You forgot the fact that one of characters in Mortal Kombat series use a pair of them. The name is Kabal
Imagine how pointy and dangerous this weapon must be for even Doug to not want to wield it for a killing test.
The singular reason the monk won in Deadliest Warrior.
PS: I want a guide to how he made that "forge barrel"!!!

TH-cam: *plays a pan pizza ad*
Why didn’t they talk about Kabal from Mortal Kombat, these were his signature weapons
I heard instead of the kill test they're going to test if it will peel fruit.
Your weapon.........will peel.
I knew Rich would win. That beard says it all.
Where was the kill test.
I really want to see "it will keel"
Kabal's Weapon of choice
Well for the first time i didn't expect the ending lol
Correction "to create an iconic blade from Mortal Kombat"
I am surprised that there was no mortal kombat reference of kabal using the hook swords

John wick forged a pencil.
And legends says it will keal
