    Thanks for the video!
    Can you necessarily rely on the top of your compound to be flat enough to use as a reference? It seems to me, if its not dead flat and level, then the whole setup of your tool would be off as well.....

      Hi Mutasim you can check that by using a magnetic base with a d.t.i. attached and move it over the surface of the compound slide.

    Hi Alan, Do Boxford lathes have a #3 MT built in the headstock shaft as yours does? I have a metic AUD and thought it was a straight thru.

    • @enotsengineering
      @enotsengineering  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi If its a screw thread held chuck it probably has a 3MT

    Very useful tool centre gauge, was there any runout in the ER collet?.
    Thanks for sharing.

      @enotsengineering  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi my ER collet was running true but you could use a chuck

      @@enotsengineering Yes of course, just turn a diameter with a good surface finish, and measure it accurately. May I suggest a short video on "Wringing" the slip gauges together and splitting them correctly?, Thanks for sharing and best regards from the Black Country.

    Think your lathe looks better in the dark blue you painted it.

      Hi Craig. the dark blue lathe is my brothers rebuilt Boxford

    Thanks Alan, as a beginner with a Boxford I always find your videos interesting. Is the low tailstock a problem? I imagine it would cause slight taper turning, how could it be rectified?

    • @enotsengineering
      @enotsengineering  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi William to check the tail stock offset, hold a lever type indicator in the chuck and hold a dowel in the tailstock touch the indicator onto the dowel . Then rotate the indicator by turning the chuck and check for a low and high spot. If its front to back you can adjust the grub screws in the tail stock to bring it onto centre line. If it's top to bottom you may need to pack the tail stock up.
      Regards
      Alan
