  • Welcome to this trip report on Alaska Airlines 1106 in First Class. I'm starting my Iceland journey flying up to Seattle and flying in first class. This Alaska Airlines First Class Trip Report will be on an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-800.
Originally this was going to be an economy class trip report, but with the chance to upgrade to first class, I took it.
Is the $95 upgrade worth it? Find out in today's trip report.

I appreciate this video a lot, I have an insane amount of fear for flying with little reason, and I’m about to take a flight to Florida soon first class on Alaska, weirdly enough watching this video and seeing the beautiful views makes me feel a lot better about flying, nice review💪

The sound of the engine when the airliner takes off adds to the excitement of the trip.

Enjoyed this trip report Jeff! To upgrade for just $95 is a steal! Nice view of the Sierras, surprised that the route would take you there.

Thanks for watching! I think from So. Cal we generally fly over the Sierra. But I guess it depends on winds and traffic. $95 well spent in my opinion. I'd do it again if given the opportunity of Alaska.

    I have wide shoulders.
Flying Economy can be quite uncomfortable.
4 " of a wider seat, plus a shared center console vs armrest is a huge difference for me
add to that 7 more inches of leg room and a reclining seat
$95 would be well worth it

I agree. If you know the price of an upgrade like that, you can decide if it is worth the cost and provides value or not.

Had a first class ticket from SF to SEA but get down-graded to coach last minute due to oversold condition. Offered nothing to compensate and told me to call Alaska customer care. I think I got shafted out of first class because my booking was from an International carrier - not from Alaska's ticket stock. Now I get push back from both airlines and blaming each other. Never again I would book flight when Alaska is in the middle of it.

Sorry to hear about your experience. I booked with Alaska first class and was downgraded to Main cabin on the connecting flight , I was given a $75 credit.

I fly alaska airlines nearly every month for work, mainly cause my work has a contract with them, but I do get the miles, so when I do fly on my own dime I generally will use Alaska cause of the miles program, and it's pretty good. First class though, honestly, I'm happier in coach with an empty middle seat than I am in first class. It's nothing special, and certainly not worth the extra cost. Only time I will fly first with them is if they offer me the free upgrade or the price is less than buying two seats (again I like an empty middle seat). Only thing good about it, is the double miles awards. I liked it pre Covid, now nothing special, Seats are outdated, no seat back entertainment gotta bring your own tablet or device to watch anything, the drink and food service I don't think is anything special and if you have a window seat you don't have as much room under the seat in front of you cause the "power" boxes are there and take up nearly half the space. I have recently flown Delta first class a few times, just cause I wanted to try them out, and the price for first class was very reasonable on those flights. Way better experience. The staff seemed nicer, they offer more the seats are nicer, and the planes I was on had foot rests and tons of entertainment on the back seat screens. I remember back in the day (90's) first class was way different, way better.. but like everything on US domestic flights anymore its not about our comfort, its about cramming as many as they can into the plane to make more money.

Ok, so Im flying on Qantas SYD-LAX then code share on Alaskan LAX-CUN on the 12th of October. Whats the best way to upgrade to 1st class on Alaskan? Whats the best way for me to upgrade to 1st? Can I bid with my Qantas points? Can I pay to upgrade? Help!

    • @aviationwithjeff
      @aviationwithjeff  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I paid for my upgrade. If you have elite status on Alaska's Mileage Plan, that is probably the best way.

I do a yearly Alaska cruise sailing out of Seattle,i live in Florida which is a six hour straight flight, but have never flown it direct, next month will be my first time flying Alaska Airlines...When i booked tickets(2) back in early March it was $750.00/ticket round trip..in main economy....three weeks later it dropped to $500.00,so i cancelled and re-booked and has a $500.00 in my wallet to use within a year...First class is double, and for what you get i don;t think it's worth it,since Alaska Airline does not have a lounge in Florida, the legroom is decent and i always sit in an Aisle seat, take my sandwich and snacks, and they serve all the water, soft drinks you want..so paying an extra $1,000 is a lot of money, and the seats are not lay flat...my flight is early in the morning, and i don't drink alcohol that early...If they still have available FC seats at check in,maybe i will negotiate a price.

Nice video. A tip, try not to talk too much during landing, for us enthusiast who chime in, it's nice to hear flaps, the wheels hitting the runway, etc.
