If you put the nail tip closer to the cuticle and only leave a tiny gap you don't actually have to build an Apex so you can just put a thin layer of builder gel or rubber base coat to seal the gap which makes the overlay method a whole lot faster. This is how korean nail techs who created the method do it.
Not Korean, Vietnamese. Vietnamese entrepreneurs revolutionized the nail industry and many of the techniques that are till used til this day. I know the history because I worked with them yrs ago for over 10 yrs starting at 14.
However, I do find if you do that there is no integrity in the nail strength. This is fine for a short term or single event set. However, if you intend to wear the set for a longer period, you need to apply a gel overlay for strength. Otherwise you risk damaging the natural nail through flexion.
I was always taught to start with the pinkie finger first because we use our thumbs as tools to apply pressure and hold the tips in place. The thumb nail should always be done last. Your nails turned out great!
omg... you finally did a gel x nail video🤭🤭🤭super excited to watch you try thiiis!!! your natural nails look so good , if you get a chance , please do a video on nail care.
Your sets are always on point and your instructions are so clear an easy to follow. I have these tips and I had to place them the way you showed or they wouldn't cover my nails fully.
I absolutely love this method too! It's been a game changer. I stick with the Apres brand though. I've tried several other full cover soft gel tips but none of them were as flexible as Apres and for me unless it's extremely flexible it causes problems with my natural nails and how they grow in. You have beautiful natural nails by the way. If I had your nails I'd slap some rubber base gel on them and grow them out. Yours look very nice naturally too.
Thank you so much, I would definitely love to get my hands on the Apres brand. I can tell that they are great quality and I’m glad they work great for you💖💐🙂
I’ve honestly tried out a lot of gelx dupes and I think it’s safe to say they suck. They’re no apex which leads to the gel glue oozing out which annoys me so much. I’ve decided to purchase the O.G Alpres gel x tips, they are in my Amazon cart and I can’t wait to try them out. Thank you for the advice on the fluffy effect, I’ll try invest in some velvet powder. Didn’t think that I could develop an allergy by sprinkling polymer on my skin💖🙂💐
I’ve been looking for your application technique before I try to apply my first set. IDK why people place the tips over the entire nails. I like how you left space and filled in the gel at the bottom.
I love the thumb nail! It’s really cute! Now I know how it’s done! I always wondered how that look was accomplished! 😅great video! Actually all the nails, great job! The index nail would be next. Thanks!😊😊
Thank you so much, I’ve actually never seen a tutorial on the thumbnail design. I definitely winged it and I’m glad it worked out…there’s probably an easier way of doing it😅💖💐

@@nectanails ~ Why didn't you prep your nail beds prior to applying the tips? Is it not required for these particular products? How long did they stay on & did you have any issues at all? Thank You so much for sharing your knowledge!!!!!
I didn’t prep my nails because I had on a peel off base coat, I peel off my designs as soon as I’m done filming. You definitely need to prep you nails before applying your full cover tips or they won’t last…I was thinking of doing a longevity test on the technique that way I’ll be able to see how long they last🙂

It’s as strong as acrylic nails. As far as I know polygel shouldn’t melt away with acetone use, you have to file it off the nail. Also polygel lasts for up to 3weeks, you shouldn’t change it weekly🙂💖

I have a question, how should the nail look like underneath the nail extensions? Should the gel squeeze up right to where your nail ends or should it spill over if that makes sense? Mine are getting better as I’m learning but I have yet to find someone explain the underside?
That’s such a great question…the gel shouldn’t spill over at all and one of the main reasons is that if the gel cures onto the skin that’s under the nail, it could cause a allergic reaction/contact dermatitis. I’m glad to hear that you’re getting better at it💪🏾💖😊💐
