I agree. Players don’t care about that. Not in baseball. They get paid guaranteed money at current market rates for past performances. Thats already quite good living. One of the trade offs is eventually you’re going to have inferior players on your team making more but doubtful they care since at that level a few million bucks is nothing.

We gave up too much pitching depth for a one year rental. Should have signed Bellinger instead who can be moved to 1st base in 2025 and then try to sign Soto after the season if the price is right. Aside from all that, make developing your own Soto type players within the organization a top priority. I think Jasson Dominguez will be this type of player and we need to develop more Jassons. And I have to agree with Hal a team shouldn't have to spend $300M a season to field a championship caliber team.

Hal is the most clueless owner in sports. Last year he almost fixed the team by mistake when he planned to hire a consultant firm to asses why, if at all, were the Yankees underachieving as an organization. But the true powers that be got to him first and now he's "excited" to go into 2024. I think there's a lot going on behind the scenes, and somebody is getting the chop if they don't come through this year. The rest of it is a dog and pony show.
