    Thanks for the mention, Cosmo. I was very surprised to find that my Jackery 500 has an MPPT controller. They obviously listened to their customers and changed that part. I can't imagine they would ruin their good name by lying about something like that, so I think my manual is correct. Also, it will run for 12 hours now instead of 6 hours if the draw is less than 10w. So one could run a USB fan all night without the unit shutting down. I'm really liking this Jackery brand. Can't wait to get a second one!

    I have the 500. You almost NEVER fully deplete the battery. A couple of hours is what it really takes most of the time to top off.
    If I am winter car camping in the mountains where I have been below 0*F. by 10 to 15 degrees things get tough. It runs my cheapo electric 12V blanket stuffed in an ancient sleeping bag. A dual fuel camp stove (yes, windows cracked, and safety measures in place like a high tech heat shield made of Tactical Aluminum Foil that doubles as head protection when aliens are about.....🤪) etc. At minus 10* F you will have a “rough” night. A hassle supreme to get up to take care of nature when it’s that cold but I like the challenge! The modern technology is a Shazam development. I’m as old as you Cosmo! Really like your vids and been a very long time sub. Thanks!

    • @CosmoWeems
      @CosmoWeems  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice JM I admire your cold weather tenacity! I agree on answering the call of nature on a cold night. I am able to numb my brain and do the job until I get back to the sleeping bag where I allow myself to feel the cold/ I rarely drin my 500 too. It seems to work really well and top off very well on solar. I will be getting out more this winter. Thanks for watching =Como

    Great info Cosmo and very timely too! Chris and I will soon be Jackery owners -- we are trying to decide which one to get... Now they have a 300w with an MPPT controller ... I think the 300 or 500 would serve us well, but for our 750/1500w ceramic heater, we would need the 1000... (If we run the heater on low) So... decisions, decisions =) ... Thanks for this update... Jackery found a great ambassador in you! ~ Maria

    • @CosmoWeems
      @CosmoWeems  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You better crunch some numbers before buying. Some heaters are energy hogs.

    • @TheGratitudeAttitude
      @TheGratitudeAttitude 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cosmo Weems - Thanks Cosmo! We actually just splurged a little and ordered their new 300w with an MPPT controller. They have a $50 off code and there’s no tax if you order directly from Jackery.
      It has all the USBs, 12v, and two outlets. This should serve us well for a while. For help with heat, we figured that an electric blanket only draws between 15 and 75w depending on the temp setting - so the jackery will help provide a little warmth in the late fall - and then hope for some shore power if we camp in the cold months so that we can use our heater. Promised Land State Park has a few electric sites they keep open all year long. I’m looking to try winter camping. Take care =) ~ Maria

    I havent heard anything bad about jackery products. So i ordered the jackery 240. For my rv and whenever we take trips. Cant wait to try it

    • @CosmoWeems
      @CosmoWeems  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I get offers to review other makers similar power stations. Their customer service capability is so terrible I wont review the product. Jackery is the exception. While not magicians they do a great job on the engineering and support side. I use my 240 and 300 and 500 a lot. The best combination for me is to take either the 240 or 300 and a 500. That combo works great for my needs on many day trips. Enjoy the 240. =Cosmo Thank You for watching. Check my other videos th-cam.com/users/cosmoweemsvideos

    Great videos Cosmo...just found you a couple weeks ago and I am watching a lot. I ordered a TAG Teardrop Boondock version a month ago for late December delivery...can’t wait. They have good reviews and hopefully should be ok. Now, I wished I should discovered the Jackery units earlier as I did purchased a Yeti 500 a couple months ago...so far so good! The rest of the buying for boondocking is based on your recommendations. Teardrops in general are going of the charts...looks like everyone wants one! I’m semiretired and looking forward to this new phase of life. Maybe sometime we will cross path (and share the blender!). Thanks again and be safe! Cheers..

      Hi Alejandro! Congratulations on the TAG. Lots of adventure is awaiting you. The model teardrop I am using now has a 1 year wait! Teardroping is the right mix of adventure and comfort for me. Thanks for your comment. I started doing the videos because I had no idea how to teardrop camp and I wanted to give an idea on what I use so people could consider what they might need so I truly appreciate your feedback. I look forward to whipping you up a fine shake with the blender! Regards =Cosmo

    Great video Cosmo, I am in the process of designing a tear drop was wondering if you can get a jackery in the under floor storage. Not sure how deep they are and how long the storage is. Stay safe and thank you.

      Hi TG trailer was designed with an aluminum box under the floor for the AGM battery. One of the benefits of the Jjackery is it is very portable and can be moved anywhere. Not sure how you would maintain portability of its under the floor. My main trailer battery is AGM the Jackery is to augment that. I thought the Jackery 240 would only accept 42Watts of solar no matter how large the panel (up to 30V). Just got mine and paired it with a renogy solar suitcase and surprised to see it charging at 70watts in direct sunlight. Very nice surprise! Especially since the wall charger is rated at 60watt and only inputs 39watts.

    • @CosmoWeems

      Hu Cindy and thank you. Since I am on the road I wanted a connection I can fix while camping with simple tools. So in many cases I use alligator clips and SAE connectors. If I had a more stable setup I would use MC4. My stuff gets bounced around pretty badly while traveling. SAE is very simple and waterproof also easily replaced plus very light weight and small. Great video. Thank you. Can you use a Jackery solar panel to charge your Vistabule directly, using the input directly on the Vistabule?

    • @CosmoWeems
      @CosmoWeems  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank You Donald! Yes you can charge the trailer with a Jackery panel. But you need to probably make a connector from the Solar panel output to the Vistabule input. On my trailer the input to the trailer is an SAE connector amzn.to/3EfoaxV You would need the other end of that connection to accept the output from the solar panel.
      The Jackery panels are very good. I like them but they are quite pricey. I am using 2 Dolio 300 watt panels to charge my trailer You might consider the Dokio which outputs 300 watts of power and costs about $390 amzn.to/3mb8V34

    I have a question. I have a cheap tv antenna that came with a 6 volt AC 2 prong amplifier. How can I make the 2 prong amplifier to plug into a USB instead of the AC. I want to use it off grid without having to plug into the AC of my generator. The tv came with a USB input. I know nothing about electricity. I tried mixing the antenna with another brand USB amplifier, but it wouldn't work at all. I'm waiting for my 500 Jackery to be delivered today.

    Can the Jackery 500 be charged through my AC outlet at home?

    • @CosmoWeems

      Hi Breeze!e! Yes all the Jackery's 160, 240, 300, 500, 1000, and 1500 can be charged on home electricity, 12V in the car or solar. Mine came with a power brick like a laptop computer has - you plug it in 120 A/C outlet at home and it charges. The 12V adapter plugs into the cigarette lighter of the car and charges. If you have a Jackery solar panel you can plug it directly iinto any of these units. I am using Jackery and non Jackery solar pannels to charge and I had to buy or make some connectors for my non jackery solar panels (ease for me to do). Hope this helps.
