Remember during the height of the Syrian civil war, when the Home Office denied Christian Syrians asylum because they misquoted the Bible and only accepted 0.1% of Christian Syrians even though Christians make up over 10% of the Syrian population. The civil service needs to be Constitutionally placed as servants of the elected Government, so that no simple legislation can annul that fact.
The civil service is the majority of the apparatus of government. The politicians are just a tiny transient part of government. When you adjust your perspective, you start to see that democracy is only window-dressing.

British citizens, for decades, have routinely failed their duty to uphold democracy, by failing to vote at all! As much as 60-80% of eligible voters have NOT BOTHERED TO VOTE, again and again. This means that candidates can win seats with 20-30% of the eligible voters because people stay home. Some people’s excuse is that it is hard to choose and that their one vote doesn’t make a difference. That of course is just ignorance because when 60-80% have NOT voted, those non-votes add up to millions. The winning candidates can win with far fewer votes than the number who stayed home! So NOT VOTING MAKES THE DIFFERENCE and bottom line is you get a the government you deserve, one that does NOT truly represent the people!!! Anyone who does not vote, IS PART OF THE PROBLEM. Blair placed a large number of his supporters into the Service as 'advisors' and they managed to politicize it almost completely. They removed anyone who would not play ball, quite illegally, but since when do politicians face the legal consequences of their actions? The Tories, should they attempt the same, would be outed before they could even start.
There was never a Conservative government in 2010. Tories had lost their way long before that.
An investigation and vetting of all civil servants need to be applied. This is disgusting and disgraceful civil servants need to

The Civil Service needs complete reform and cutting down to size; they have no right to voice these views and need to remember that they are public servants and have to do what they are told by the electorate and the Government. Hopefully, many of them are crying today after the EU elections.

As a former Civil Servant myself I recall all the dross and time wasters ended up in the Home Office .
Snap. A third worked hard, a third do as much they can get away with and a third are a waste of space and should be sacked. I only worked at the HO for the pension. Loathed most of the senior civil Servants and their stupid systems. A real culture shock after working in the private sector!
