She was an old, Southern grandma who joined the war at a young age. Growing up in the 50s was a challenge for her, but the stories she'd tell to the class, to me, at least, were memorizing. I could listen to her talk all day about her past. Worst part is the year I had her was the laat year she'd be teaching. It was a rough goodbye, but the fact that I cared so much about some old teacher leaving after having her for just one year said something about her not only as a teacher, but as a person, and what kind of character she had.
