I saw this exact performance on Saturday, March 30th, and I was spellbound by it! Everyone was so wonderful, but I have to say that Ying Fang was such an unexpected treat, I had never heard her sing, and she simply took my breath away! She sings like an angel, with the clearest diction and phrasing, her voice is likely to soothe any distressed soul who hears her! It may sound like hyperbole, but she was truly a revelation, and I can't wait to see more of her!
Got to see this in English a few years ago and sit in on the rehearsals with Emily D'Angelo in this same role, it was an absolute joy and I never once got tired of it! I'm so shook that she's singing at the Met Opera now! Mezzos are the greatest!
Especially when she's miles and miles above Joyce in so many ways. But we won't get into that. But like many have said, comprimario comes first. They don't just cast as Sesto immediately. They use big names.
To hear this duet is pleasure.
Emily D`Angelo has absolute musicality!
Thanks for sharing!
Emily D‘Angelo is such a sublime actress. She looks like a period heartthrob

This is such a sublime and underrated duet.
Please check out soprano Kasondra Kazanjian, "Tu che di gel sei cinta", tremendous voice
Emily D’angelo... hard to find the words. Someone with such a divine voice and instrument singing SO inspiredly. Just doesn’t get any better. ❤️
How many composers could render such beautiful music in less than three minutes!

Such ”waste” having one of the best and biggest lyric mezzos in the world as Annio!
Just wait a few years, then you’ll know what I mean...
She is really good

Almost sensational actually...

It appears to be a rite of passage for young Mozartium mezzos. Elina Garanca and Kate Lindsey all played Annio before singing Sesto.
