I m an upsc aspirant and I must say that the books we read completely praise and talk only about western philosophy and philosophers, western political concepts and management concepts etc. There is no indianness in them, the student who reads them thinks that no good philosophers were born here, and that's very sad, the civil service syllabus needs huge changes ,where more focus is on bhartiyata.
There r three things-Body,mind and spirit(Atma). Western philosophy could not go beyond mind but Indian philosophy or Darshan went beyond mind and contemplated on Atma,Brahm,Nature of reality, Consciousness.Modern Neuroscience and Quantum Physics have recently started researching about Consciousness or nature of reality which was already realised by sages of Upanishad thousands of years ago on this land of Bharatvarsha.The western philosphers are seekers of ideas but Indian Darshan is about seeking for The Ultimate TRUTH and finding the ways to realise The Ultimate TRUTH not merely through intellect but through Direct Experience/Intuitive Power.Only Bhartiya Darshan had contemplated on the idea of "WHO AM I". Whether we are mind/mind or something beyond that and concluded through Direct realization that we r neither mind nor body.we are Atma or manifestation of Brahm The Ultimate Cosmic Consciousness ie SAT +CHIT+ANANDA (SATCHITANANDA).

History books have many biases, but as far as philosophy goes: If you go through the material available for the philosophy optional, it is very well balanced. Half the syllabus is focussed on Indian philosophical systems with no bias. In Western portion too, the socratic and pre socratic philosophers that quite align with our own systems are given their due. In post socratic portion, parallels are drawn between Hume and Buddhist system, Spinoza and Shankarite Adwaita.
It is the sociology optional that is rotten.

While Sri Aurobindo tried to avert the partition of India by advising our politicians to accept the Cripps proposal, the Mother advised our political Leadership to send the army in 1971 to E.Pakistan to liberate it from the Pakistani army. Also in the Cripps proposal the muslim dominated regions could separate from India after 10 years. Hence there is a big Question mark as to whether by accepting that proposal we could have averted the partition of the country. Even if the Cripps proposal was accepted and partition temporarily averted, the Congress would have faced an uphill task of Convincing the Muslim League, Muslim elites, Muslim radicals etc. to give up the ideology of Muslim League and the partition could have come later with even larger areas going to Pakistan.

आनंदमय कोष ( सहस्रार चक्र)के दिव्य आनंद और विज्ञानमय ( आज्ञा चक्र) कोष की विज्ञानमयी ओमिनीपोटेन्सी को मनोमय कोष में निर्विकल्प समाधिस्थ चेतना में प्राप्त कर , इसी आनंद और सर्वज्ञता को प्राणमय कोष और अन्नमय कोष में स्थापित कर इन दोनों ही कोषों को ओमिनीशियेन्स ,ओमीनीप्रजेन्स और ओमिनीपोटेन्स की चेतनावस्था प्राप्त करवाना ही श्री अरविंद के अतिमानसीकरण का लक्ष्य है। माइन्ड ऑफ लाइट ,मनोमय कोष-शरीर से होते हुए प्राणमय और अन्नमय देह में स्थापित होकर इन्हें भी चिन्मय दिव्य- फोटो क्वांटा लाइट बॉडी में परिवर्तित करे। और यह फोटो क्वांटा लाइट बॉडी ,दीपक की लौ के समान साधारण मनुष्य को उनके स्थूल चक्षुओं को दिप्ती मान कर उन्हें भी दर्शन प्राप्त कराने में सक्षम होगी। पर यह तभी संभव है जब भूदेवी भी अपने आत्मोत्कर्ष में उस अवस्था में पहुँच चुकी होगी कि यह अविनाशी चिन्मय दिव्य देह भी प्रथ्वी के वातावरण में रहकर मानव को आध्यात्मिक पथ प्रदर्शक के रूप में कार्यरत रह सके।-

( यदि एक शरीर मे भी प्रकाश का अवतरण हुआ तो संबंधित सभी शरीरों मे जो साथ रहते हैं, प्रकाश फैल जायेगा और पूरा विश्व आलोकित हो जायेगा।
सर्वप्रथम शरीर को इस योग्य बनाया जाये कि यदि महाप्रकाश का इस पृथ्वी पर अवतरण हो तो शरीर उस महाप्रकाश को अपने मे समाहित कर ले।
अखण्ड महासत्ता प्राणिमात्र का स्वयं वरण कर सकती है। यदि एक व्यक्ति भी इस स्थिति मे पहुंच जाए तो पूरे विश्व का कल्याण सम्भव है।

-श्री अरविंद के अनुसार, अतिमानस स्रष्टि में भी देव असुर संग्राम सतत बना रहेगा ऐसा मदर ने कहा है। जो देव लोक में भी शाश्वत बना ही हुआ है। केवल विकास का अगला पायदान अतिमानस देह प्रथ्वि के आभामंडल में विराजमान होकर मानव चेतना को आध्यात्मिक उत्थान में सहायक होगी। इसका अर्थ यह है कि यह चिन्मय दिव्य देह जो कि अग्नि बीज है फोटोन क्वांटा लाइट बॉडी साधारण मनुष्य के स्थूल नेत्रों को दीपक की लौ के समान दिखाई देगी। अर्थ है कि मुक्त परमात्मा बनी आत्मा अन्य उच्च लोकों की ओर प्रस्थान न करके धरती के वातावरण में रहकर मानव को आध्यात्मिक पथ प्रदर्शक के रूप में कार्यरत रहेंगी। इसका अर्थ यह भी है देवों के समान ही प्रभावकारी होगा, अतिमानस चिन्मय दिव्य देह अवस्था को प्राप्त होने वाले योगीयों के कार्य। अंतर यह है कि अभी यह दिव्य देहधारी संत धरती के सूक्ष्म वातावरण में अभी भी सक्रिय हैं पर केवल उन साधक को उनके दर्शन प्राप्त होते हैं जिनकी सूक्ष्म या दिव्य द्रष्टि खुल जाती है ,जिस प्रकार से श्री अरविंद और श्री मॉ सब्टल फिजिकल में अभी भी सक्रिय हैं और अनेक साधकों को दर्शन दिये हैं पर सुप्रामेन्टल अतिमानस जगत में वह सभी मनुष्यों को प्राप्त हो सकेंगे। यह विशेष रूप से से तीन अग्नि, वायु और आकाश तत्व से निर्मित होती है और जिसमें जल और भूमि तत्व अल्प मात्रा में होते हैं और यह देह इलास्टिसिटि और फ्लेक्सीबिल लोच, लचीलापन लिए होगी जिस कारण संग्राम अस्त्रों के आघात आसानी से झेलने में सक्षम होगी और इस लचलता फ्लेक्सीबिल प्लास्टिसिटि के गुण होने के कारण अनेक रूप धारण आसानी से कर सकेगी यानि कि रूप परिवर्तन की सिद्धि सहज इस शरीर में होगी जो देवजनो को भी उपलब्ध है और यही सुप्रामेन्टल विश्व में धरती पर स्वर्ग की स्थापना है। इसका प्रोटोटाइप सूक्ष्म विश्व में आलरेडी उपलब्ध है जैसा कि मदर और श्री अरविंद ने कहा है पर अभी उसके डिस्सेन्ट अवतरण में धरती भूदेवी के आवश्यक आध्यात्मिक विकास और उत्थान का होना बाकी है।

Vandana ji, visiting Pondy is not sufficient; you have to read the works the The Mother seriously in order to realize that She is more hindu than many of us put together. Without The Mother's efforts and tapasya Sri Aurobindo's vision would not have materialized on ground. If you are associated with Sri Aurobindo society, you must be knowing that Sri Aurobindo himself said that NOBODY can understand me and my yoga without surrendering at the feet of The Mother.
There is no contradiction between Sri Aurobindo & Mother 's works..in many ways Mother is more nationalist hindu than Sri Aurobindo! .
