  • Kia ora we’re The Granary,
    An Indie Production Company based in Wellington, New Zealand.
    We had the opportunity to test out Indie Virtual Production utilising an EPIC Unreal Engine pipeline on an LED screen wall supplied by Streamliner. Sound stage at Avalon Studios.
    Live camera tracking was achieved using an HTC VIVE Pro Eye.
    Inspired by the work of ILM on the Mandalorian and with a special thanks to Matt Workman for leading the charge by showing Indie filmmakers what’s possible.
    We wanted to see what was possible within an indie “Live 3D” Virtual Production Environment. With 48 hours and a small crew we tested how the latest LED screen tech coupled with Unreal Engine Virtual Production workflows can empower low budget indie filmmaking.
    With special thanks to Streamliner for allowing us use of their screens, Avalon Studios for the sound stage and Rocket Rentals for the camera equipment.
    Produced by Amber Marie Naveira
    Directed, Produced and Edited by Victor Naveira
    Principle Photography by Simon Godsiff
    Camera Tracking and NDisplay operation by Max Stummer
    Behind the Scenes Camera by Scott Orr
    Onset Sound Recording by Paul Harling
    Unreal Scenes were produced by Victor Naveira and Max Stummer, with the use of assets and plugins purchased on the EPIC Unreal Market place including Brushify IO, Scan Factory, Quixel Megascans and others.

    Awesome work friends, specially for doing beautiful work without a genlock system. I'm very happy to see you moving in to VP. We are disruptors!

      Thanks Wesley, you noticed no genlock system ;) Working towards that - but for now testing with what we have available as Indie filmmakers :)

    Any chance you can comment on what it costs to build what you have? It's interesting that you have an attainable version compared to big sets like the Mandalorian.

    So for use with Unreal - which camera tracking system is the best way to go? HTC Vive seems like a huge pain to set up, Vanishing point looks good as far as options geared towards camera work ...Anti latency seems the easiest to set up... A little help deciding? lol

  • @raymantisful

    Its a pretty hard job to nail color calibration in under 48hours. Without an alexa as well. You also might have more luck checking your genlock field as it is causing distance distortions. Looking great tho :)

    • @TheGranary
      @TheGranary  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We agree! Unfortunately we didn't have the $$$ to genlock this with a quadro card and have yet to try a camera with a global shutter but that's definitely next on our list :)

    How much are those LED walls though ?

    • @Perceivedshift
      @Perceivedshift 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just a guess, but probably a few hundred thousand! The tiny LED tech has been gaining a lot of momentum, its a matter of time before consumers could purchase their own.
