    An excellent video.
    We can't find decent clamps here at all and the crappy ones are way too costly.
    I'll never buy another clamp. I like the drilled holes through the washer option as opposed to cutting slots on the side. Much better control.
    We assembled a water distribution manifold a few days ago, turned on the pump and what I thought were tight connections blew apart!
    Poly pipes of 40mm 32mm and 20mm ids.
    Today we start with the Tight Clamp tool. Not over over-engineered and doable!
    Thanks a ton!!!

    This is a simplest form of the tool for this kind of clamp I've ever seen. Good job

    I’ve seen many DIY versions of this tool and some rather expensive commercial ones. I could pretty easily make one myself, but I enjoyed your video so much that I was thinking of buying one if I could find it for sale anywhere. Sadly, I can’t. Looks like I’ll be rolling my own!
    I realize this is an old video, and perhaps these didn’t exactly take the market by storm. (Some people don’t appreciate a good idea.) I hope you’re well. 👍🏼

    Going out to the garage right now dad’s gotta make one of those clamps CREATOR ❤️🇺🇸 out of junk for free

    I've made one of the larger wire clamp gadgets, but I'm going to be thinking about this for a while so i can make something that will work under a hood. Where i live, it's not very easy to come by good worm gear clamps

    I like the way you tied it off and the tool is very small if you wanted to put it in your backpack we could make crutches or whatever you could come up traps etc.out in the out back if you needed it. I do think the handle should be larger for some more leverage though maybe a t -handle. Nice job!

    And im with you on this job . Looks like you too want to join two garden hoses together using a couple inches of ½ " copper pipe as connection . You also know tjat at high pressures that commercial hose clamps don't hold .

    Put a little dab of dish soap on the hose where the wire goes around it and it should even right up as it tightens.

    Just a suggestion, in the future draw a square on the bottom where you gonna keep your hands above -- this way you'll know that if you move your hands outside this square you'll be out of the shot and the camera will not be able to record it -- especially when you're zoomed in the way you had it -- which we appreciate it, because you're showing us exactly how you're doing it, but if it's not in the shot we can't watch it.

  • @michaelcorbidge7914

    Good, and the the fabrication of the tool is easily surmised from picture . There's also another tool for straight tight wrapping of many turns of wire demonstrated by odvoko . Many turns of wire is useful for a split tool handle say

    Length of wire required: you will need minimum 13 x diameter just for the the clamp (after cutting off the ends and folding over) not including the extra to engage the tool. 20" is mentioned yet the hose appears to be about ¾" diameter ?
    So the length of wire required = (4π x dia) + 10" to engage tool; OR 13 x dia. + 10".
    The "hold" relies on the sharp turn back of the free ends, not twisting the ends together. It is neater to cut the ends as short as ⅛" (for wire < 14gauge) and tuck them downwards.

    • @stephenarling1667
      @stephenarling1667 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Small enough, but not nearly as ironclad as Œtiker clamps.

    • @stephenarling1667
      @stephenarling1667 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dave M
      If wire clamps did the job "just fine", then plumbing codes would approve their use for installing PEX plumbing. They do not. Pinch ear clamps (Œtiker clamps, named after their inventor more than half a century ago) do a superior job, and can be readily installed where space would not permit manipulation of a wire clamp tool like this one.

      @@stephenarling1667 The reason this and alot of other things don't meet code is not because of a failure of the thing its because u can't guarantee that every person using whatever the tool or technic is will use it properly or successfully (user error) thats why they require things that may not be better but have a smaller margin of error and are manufactured with quality control but none of that means it is necessary better just generally uniform
      Oh BTW I am not necessarily suggesting this is better than any other I have yet to make one yet was watching the video and was about to make a wire camper thing so haven't tested it yet

      most folks use .032 aircraft lock wire or as some say, safety wire. It's stainless steel and has been tested to meet FAA aircraft standards. And it is tough stuff!
