Thanks Dave for all your help with Creo over the years. I'll miss your tutorials but now it's time for me to use Solidworks for a new job. I hope I find some on TH-cam as informative as you when I require solidworks help.

I’m a big fan of Go Engineer’s SolidWorks tutorials.

Your second sketch was under defined because of the centerlines. For some reason Solidworks says they’re good when you make them but if the sketch can’t determine where the end points of the centerlines are it freaks out. You can fake that if you really want by making the centerlines of infinite length (similar to how Creo makes them), however that’s kind of a pain as you need to make the centerline, click on the line again and then choose the infinite length option, and then possibly constrain it again as it sometimes loses where it’s at vertically/horizontally.
Both Solidworks and Inventor do the annoying thing of making you think you’re making something constrained (the lengths are the same, end points the same in space, etc.) but then don’t do it and make you go back and do it manually. On the flip side, Creo is a royal pain if your sketch needs to super complex. They all have their pluses and minuses.
