    I owned this bad boy back in the 80's it was my favorite guitar, I sold it at some point, and I still miss my baby. We do stupid things when we were young, selling this one was a mistake.
    I highly recommend this one it should be better than the 80's one due to improvements.

      @@jamesevans6335 The great thing about having an original 91 RG570 is I've played it for 30 years in all sorts of conditions and it's really roadworn now.
      No-one would buy it.

    I bought my original RG550 in Desert Yellow back in 1987. GREAT guitar. Wish I still had it, but I think this is giving me the nostalgia vibes again and will probably buy one of the new ones. The pickups weren't my favorite back in the day (replaced the bridge with a Duncan Pearly Gates) but for $1k it's hard to argue with. What a fun guitar.

    Great guitar, stays in tune for a long time, neck is comfortable and the stock pickups are great.

    • @mylogify
      @mylogify 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why did you change?

    • @southboundguitar
      @southboundguitar ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just put 10's on my RG500 for the first time. I can't believe that I didn't do it sooner. I run 10's on my strats tuned to standard, and I run 11's on my strats tuned to E-flat. I didn't think I'd like the bigger strings on such a wide neck with jumbo frets, but it really does round it out. It should've been shipped with 10's.
      I've also tried 8's on it. They were great for some stuff, and definitely easy on the joints, but the 10's are just more playable, and it really feels like the guitar was built around them.

Maybe 5 years went by and my nephew was just starting to get in the guitar. I tried to help him out and I saw this to them for 150 bucks. I have thought of this Guitar thousands of times up until this year 2024 I missed it never forgot about it and now just today I bought the genesis road flare red. I bought a fluorescent orange one in 1987, and it had a very rare matching fluorescent orange headstock. Unfortunately, I traded that neck with Mark McGee from the band Vicious Rumors, because I wanted a rosewood fretboard, and he wanted what I had, a maple fretboard. So now I have the black headstock.
    Fastest feeling neck I have ever felt on any guitar, which surprisingly helped me to play much faster. I don’t play metal style anymore, but anytime I pick one of these up at a guitar store, I can immediately play a lot of the shit I used to in the 80s.

    I love this guitar and I prefer the 2019 Ruby Red version with Shark Tooth inlay on the fret board. I wanted the red one but all they had at Guitar Center was the Blue guitar. I ended up buying a Prestige instead, but I still really want that Ruby Red 2019 version that is not made any more and hard to find. One thing I do not understand about the 2020 and older versions of this guitar is that some of them have sharp fret edges. That is shocking since it is a Japan made guitar. Now, I had a chance to buy a used 2019 Ruby Red version and it did not have sharp fret ends. But it had too much damage for the price tag. Love Ibanez, but I wish they used Seymour Dunkin JB pickups instead of their stock pickups.

    Not Alder. Basswood like the original. V7 and V8 are not the orig pickups. Those were V1 and V2 The neck shape is also different. Genesis neck is bigger. They are still good guitars for the money. 😊

      @@jrtme You could but I swapped a ceramic in my V2 and it sounds so awesome I don't feel the need for a new pickup. I also switched my V7/V8 magnets so the alnico is in the neck and ceramic in the bridge and it sounds amazing- especially the neck- why they didnt do this from the factory IDK

    If anyone is looking for an original 1993 Rg550 in DY let me know. I'm considering listing on Reverb. Excellent + condition. Looks almost new. Comes with original pickups V1 and V2 and mint original case. Also signed by Steve Vai but you can polish off if that's not for you. Met him at a record store signing and he signed. Have pics.

    If you get a good one of these they are amazing and a ridiculous deal but of 3 I’ve owned they all were kinda fucked up. A purple one had a chunky uncomfortable neck and a bridge that had an elongated saddle screw that dug into the trem cavity preventing it from functioning properly. 2 white ones had various fret issues although they had pencil thin ultra shreddy necks. Was worth buying 3 of them till I found the one that was ultimately amazing after a little fretwork. Its as solid and high quality feeling as a 3k guitar i own.

    Ordered this guitar in purple on 3 occasions..I had fret sprouts every single time! Very unfortunate because I love the way these guitars look. I just didn’t want to spend $1000 on a guitar and then spend another 100-200 at a tech to get it right.
