I watched this just because it is there - then it blew up in my mind like a firework. Who doesn't have regrets of the youth...? We all do. And this movie takes you back to your time of youth, takes you to where you've been, and who you've had been with. And makes you wonder what if...and where am I now, and where am I going...a beautiful film that is so underrated.
In the end, watching this film is indirectly like watching stories of regret that we experience ourselves, sometimes there are moments when we daydream and imagining beautiful memories that become painful and wishing to return to that time, and hope the moment will last forever.
it's one of those stories about "the one that got away". And you had no closure...forced to move on realizing that you never actually did all these years. It's absolutely beautiful.
Ordinary is not a fitting word for this film. . . . Seems so much more. . . . 35 years on this planet and this hits hard for me. Path to you and your future self. The dynamic is so flawless, from the youth to adult, to the damn right grittiness and the dirty side of your story. This is a masterpiece. What a fit to a normal story. Kudos to the whole crew. I love it.
I'm only 20, yet this film feels like it was written just for me. Aside from hitting all the right spots for my dumb art kid brain, this movie seemed to get exactly how I feel in life! I imagine we've all had a Kaori in our lives at one point or another, I know I have.
While watching it took me a bit to realize the frame turned to 4:3. There's some really beautiful shots and sequences in this film. I especially loved the road trip. Really nostalgic.
I honestly don't know what to do in my life. I'm scared to grow old. This movie gives me some weird feeling that I can't put into words. This movie is a masterpiece. Sato-san is living inside myself.
Just watched this today randomly, and holy shit the sequence of the movie was really good. it really gives me chills how my life passed by and forgot the people I had fun with. everyone has their life moving and some stuck and struggling, this is a really underrated movie that keeps you remind about reality in life.
Just watched it....I don't know what is so good in movie but it's a must watch !! this movie is so simple yet so mind blowing 👏👏👏whole crew worked so good
Amazing movie. There's a lot of subtle symbolism/visuals seen in the movie with meaning/theme consistent throughout movie about time, direction(backward/forward). Delicate, bittersweet.
Someone times picking up a random Asian Netflix movie can do wonders..the movie is a reality for most of the guys in their 30z or 40z now.. All the past relationships and events shaped us for the man we became today..now if we are not happy with our life for certain reasons then who is to blame for rather then ourselves .. Being not stable and single is far less evil then being down and depressed for something that was never in our hands..we all want to go back to that one specific time period in our life and never let hold of it.. But the reality is that we all live it once..
Just done watching it. Its has superb cinematography, the first plot and til the last plot. Unlike the usual film that begin from the old year going to present , this is the opposite so you better every plot seen . Plus I was amazed how this man turns into teenage look and mature look. Great film feels like I'm go back into that year 90's .
I didn't like it but that is my own personal taste The coïtuss scene ruined it completely for me Unfortunately it is indeed However, i did liked the last minutes While he was running everything was hunting him His whole life went through his eyes Its very realistic Most of us want to go back Time itself is a burden and a curse
Great Movie, My dream was to live in Asia, from Australia, but I ended up in America which is someone else's dream. I have kids which i'm happy about, I get girls but the young love is gonna I feel like Sato a lot, I feel my mortality more. These Japanese films of lost opportunities are great.
I'm in the middle of an emotional mess right now but my friends recommend me this movie. After watching the trailer I'm sure this is a great movie but I can't be watching it right now!
Um filme desse ai pra assistir e nego viajando em tal de drive my car! This movie makes me think how much time do i lose with stupid things... that my douts won't get me to anywhere. I just have to do my stuffs, i'm still 25 but somethimes i fells like i'm super old, like i don't have more time and my life is already done. but did you see... at his 20s his life was just begining, if he had stopped with that "futsu" thing, he could have done so much more.
it was good, it perfectly captured the fragility and complexity of youth as well as the hollowness itll brought in one’s adulthood, the pacing was slow tho and seemed a little dull for me but it was euphoric and the story and visuals were amazing.
Long shot, but do you guys happen to know the first song that plays for a few seconds on the road trip scene? The song that plays right after Kaori switches her minidisc

I watched this movie last night, I can’t move on. This is realistic and nostalgic. It’s slow and dull but the impact is impeccable.

This movie really made me think about my life and what I've been doing so far, where can I go from now. Beautiful.
Freaking bittersweet movie. Knowing it ends but seeing how they got there from all the good to the bad. It hits hard.

your 20s is the golden age to power forward, don't get caught up in the past / nostalgia just yet! Keep going!

a brilliant movie about nostalgia and growing old. a must watch.
The best film I’ve watched this year. Amazing cinematic experience. I’d do anything to watch it again for the first time.
It looks like my life story as I turn 40 this year. It looks like time has pass for me. This actually happens to everyone out there.
I honestly loved this movie.
