very useful considering that the card eont even work for gaming now that AMD put something in the drivers to prevent it from working if the bios has a mod. You can download a earlier driver version. Ok, I loaded a ROM that seems to be not the one my GPU needs. I have a saved backup of the original bios it came with(bought from miners) how do I flash it back to it? How do I proceed now? How do I choose the rx 580 as the one who needs a reflashing of bios? It only shows my vega 11 onboard graphics card. Edit 2: Never mind, I fixed it. After the steps I did in edit 1, I just had to open the flashing tool again and load image the backedup bios Rom. Then program, then restart and reset the motherboard bios settings back to default so it would then automatically choose the discrete GPU(rx 580) on start up. Then removed the hdmi from my motherboard and reconnected it to the GPU again. This is for people who freaked out thinking they bricked their GPU permanently.
Hi! I was having the same trouble not being able to force my vega graphics with my rx 570 plugged in, but I followed your steps from edit 1 and finally managed to do so. The problem I'm facing now is that each time I try to go back again i to the BIOS utility to reinstall my backup file, my computer completely freezes after clicking on "run as admin" on ATI flash utility. Did you experience the same problem? If so, did you find any solution for that?
Run some hardware diagnostics. You might have an issue with the hard drive, memory, or something on the board. The GPU shouldn't crash the system. If you can, try another machine.
Do you have integrated video in your motherboard or a 2nd PCIE slot? Sometimes you load the wrong ROM and you can't boot the computer. It's probably actually booting up all the way to the login, but you can't see it since the GPU is bricked. To un-brick you need to plug the monitor into another video port either on the motherboard or another card. Go back and try again - look very carefully at the ID, memory clock speeds, and brand of memory. All must match what GPUz displays. Flash again. I had to flash a couple of mine 2 or 3 time to find the correct one.
Some graphics cards have a manual switch that must be activated first before it will accept the ROM. I know some versions of the RX580 had this... there was a jumper you had to move in order to edit the BIOS. Just research your model or see if you can find such a BIOS switch.
i bought a second hand RX580 nitro+ 8gb, and silent mode bios was running at 1120mhz and 2100mhz memory..... i think that is wrong, so i try to flash the right bios
It depends on the architecture of the BIOS logic chip you are intending to flash. I have not done any experiments like this, so it is only theoretically possible.
@MartyUlrich With previous generations of Radeon it was possible. Also, current rx 4k from Nvidia its possible. I flashed a strix bios to my tuf gaming 4080
Hello, i have to install a slightly different bios and im aware of the possible issues. What can i do to go around the mismatch Warning? I‘ve read things like adding -p somewhere but i dont know where to do that. Please help me😭
Could the bios of my gpu be ruining the performance it was running fine for a while, now it's running half of the speed it used to, tested on a different system, however yesterday it ran fine, the day before had that same problem and the day before it was running fine.
Have you checked out the gigabyte rx 6600 bios? I'm trying to look for it and found it but the GPU memory is set at 500 mhz. Why? The card's max GPU speed is over 2500 mhz. So I can't figure out why tech powerup has their VGA bios memory set so low.
Dude this video is like 6 years old - tech powerup's list might be quite outdated by now. It's been a HOT minute since I had a flash a video card. I would check gigabyte's website for the proper source files for the BIOS. The tools however should all work just fine for the flashing process itself.
I tried flashing my gpu but at first it said it is mismatched so I programmed it again with my backup rom which was successful. after rebooting, there's no more display.
Your hardware is damaged I would say. If you found the correct ROM online and it is mismatched, that could mean it didn't match the program of the logic chip, however, an incorrect ROM can also give a mismatch.
Its saying that I have that Bios already installed the one I found online? I am confused now so isnt my gpu a mining gpu, since like someone else told me that mine is probably a mining gpu?
In this case, you'll need to use onboard video, or a 2nd, known good, video card. Boot up with the display coming from one of those alternative sources and then flash.
Hey man I need help. I flashed my GPU bios and it wouldn’t boot after that. However I was able to reset my whole pc and reinstall windows and now it works and I can do normal stuff. However I play video games and when I installed my GPU drivers for my rx 580 my screen instantly turned blue when it tried to open. Therefore I had to boot in safe mode and uninstall my drivers which was successful. Then when I tried to flash my bios with ati flash my screen instantly turned blue when I tried to open it. Yes I did try to run it as administrator. However I downloaded what I was told to be the default version of the bios from searching it up. I flashed the GPU bios via cmd prompt and it worked. However I’m not sure if it fully worked. When I flashed my GPU bios with cmd prompt my screen turned blue. I let it sit there and it reset my pc. I opened GPU Z and check the bios version and it was the default one. But I still get a blue screen when I try to open ati flash and install drivers. Do you have any idea what the problem is.
That sounds more like a motherboard/CPU/Bus issue than a GPU issue. I would try to flash the GPU using another computer and see if you get better results.
@@MartyUlrich I found out that I haven’t rlly been flashing my bios. I have found a way to force flash tho. I have narrowed down 5 bios versions that are compatible (I hope) and I will have to test each and every one of them. I also know that there are newer bios versions and older ones I can get from my manufacturer Bc I asked them to send me the latest one and they did. I will try to ask for older versions and even the stock one if they can get it. If these don’t work can you recommend any fixes?
Yeah I'd say check GPUz and verify whether or not it is the correct ROM. It probably wouldn't hurt to re-flash the correct one, even if it is what you already have. Then try again.
I bought an artifacting GTX 780 that can't launch games but can chill in the homescreen and in youtube. Will flashing the correct bios on it fix it, even when the seller (probably) hasn't messed with the original bios?

i have a maxsun rx 570 and its in the techpower gpu list but not on the bios list then what to do?
Hi! My computer freezes when I execute the program to flash bios. What can I do?
Run some hardware diagnostics. You might have an issue with the hard drive, memory, or something on the board. The GPU shouldn't crash the system. If you can, try another machine.
Bro please help me I tried flashing it now my pc wont boot up :(( im using a RYZEN 5 3600
The ryzen3600 does not have intergrated graphics sadly
I have a 1050ti i must dowhload nvflash for to found it and to flash it
Thanks a lot mate
Sir, when I hit the program button on ATIFLASH, after couple of seconds it says flash failed. Need help! TIA
got the same problem still haven't found a fix :(
Some graphics cards have a manual switch that must be activated first before it will accept the ROM.
The real question is, how to flash a higher power limit bios to a gpu even if it is from a different manufacturer
Hi i have a problem it says cannot find discrete amd videocard
That would likely indicate a physically damaged card. BIOS flash won't fix... sorry
I am not sure... but flashing certainly will not hurt it. There could be other issues causing that. The BIOS is but one factor.
@@MartyUlrich hey update from the future, flashing the GPU+ fresh windows removed the issue! Thanks
Hi, just wanted to ask how do i do the ATiflash with an nvidia card, i got the gtx 1070 and the atiflash is only for amd cards. Thanks
Thanks so much 🙏
hey man, i have a gtx 960 fake and i don't know what to do with it, i may just throw it away but if you can help me then i would appreciate it
I'm not familiar with it but you can always send it to me if you're going to toss it!
@@MartyUlrich ok thanks for taking the time to reply. I'll check that out.
what if no version matches ? ive got a rx 580 8gd mi
When i download the ATI Flash form the link in the description the UI is just a cmd tab. How can i get the same UI as your ATI flash
Because you downloaded the DOS version... try again - get the Windows version
Does the on board video card applies to CPU with integrated graphics only?
Its saying that I have that Bios already installed the one I found online? I am confused now so isnt my gpu a mining gpu, since like someone else told me that mine is probably a mining gpu?
I was wondering how do we flash the bios when the screen doesn't want to show anything? Like totally black when we inserted the gpu
In this case, you'll need to use onboard video, or a 2nd, known good, video card. Boot up with the display coming from one of those alternative sources and then flash.
Im having pixel flikering, do you think this could help me? some guys from reddit told me that my gpu is dying lol, idk...
Sorry but they are probably right, but a proper BIOS flash won't hurt! Give it a shot!
@@MartyUlrich if u don’t mind can you explain how it’s a motherboard/cpu/bus issue? I’m not very good when it comes to other pc parts.
@@MartyUlrich I also don’t have another computer so...
@@tomsmith8478 Just compare the details with GPUz, otherwise, yes, trial and error
Solved my issue with no video signal when booting in UEFI
My r9 270x without drivers it works but when i install the driver it shows black screen can you help me?
or this method will fix my video card
Yeah I'd say check GPUz and verify whether or not it is the correct ROM. It probably wouldn't hurt to re-flash the correct one, even if it is what you already have. Then try again.
Can you solve the problem?
I bought an artifacting GTX 780 that can't launch games but can chill in the homescreen and in youtube. Will flashing the correct bios on it fix it, even when the seller (probably) hasn't messed with the original bios?
How did you fix that issue
Sir,i my when i turn on my pc it put up a display " turn down pc and plug in pcie" when i already plug in pcie cable .*

Gpu z status in sensor section
Gpu clock 0.0
Memory clock 0.0
Sometime it show actual reading
I tried my friends gtx 1660 but it run fine.
Wow! Got some serious issues there. I don't think a BIOS flash will fix your card - I think it may be physically damaged.
Hey Marty My Nvidia stopped working one day when I reset it , then I got it back working and Now its on the fritz , it doesnt show up in Device manager acept under hidden devices, Man do you know what it could be? its a 1060 nvidia 3 gb
I think it's beyond what a BIOS flash can do, but you should try if you haven't already. Sorry man
what if the card is installed on a rig without windows opperating system?
Then this video doesn't apply to you. I mean flashing is flashing, but it's a different process using Linux and that's not my gig.
