I agree. When I first saw the homepage, I had to genuinely ask myself if I had seen this as a child, whereas with poppys Playtime and every fnaf animatronic since Sister Location look like they would never make it past the drafting phase.

I find it strange how home is avoiding our gaze but Wally stares directly at us. It’s almost as if home is trying to avoid eye contact with us and while he’s trying to get eye Contact with us. Home doesn’t want us to look at them, but Wally does. Wally wants our attention.

Welcome Home fans, remember that Clown also said to be kind and not chastise those who are joining. I still think the whole website is Wally's cry for help. He can't stop smiling, so you have to focus on his eyes to read him, and his eyes, rather than unhinged, look terrified to me. If there's another entity, like Home, in Wally as MatPat thinks, then him telling you to stay quiet if you can see him speaks volumes.
Honestly, lore aside, Welcome Home would be a really cute kids show. Like I see these characters and wish I could see them brought to life on a screen 😭
I know, right? It reminds me a lot of Jollitown, a web game from the late 2000s, for this Asian bootleg version of Mcdonalds. The website was basically just a giant neighbourhood and you could click on the different houses and play minigames with the mascots. Welcome Home feels like a crossover of Jollitown and Sesame Street. I absolutely love it lmao.
I heard someone else mentioning how the whole “Frowning is easy see” “Maybe for you but not for me” may be in reference to how they’re puppets, and while Frank always has an eternal built in frown, Wally always has an eternal slight smile. But in that picture you can also see Wally’s eyebrows curved a bit, like he’s contemplating something or confused or perhaps even disturbed. Perhaps he’s questioning why he can’t frown?

Just pointing out in the gallery, Frank showed Wally how to frown, saying it was easy. Wally responded by saying it wasn't for him, with a furrowed brow. This interaction suggests that Wally was trying to ask Frank how to frown since he seems to be the best at it. This could mean that Wally, even if he's smiling in some really incriminating images, isn't *really* smiling. There's also a theory going around that Wally is being controlled by an evil force (that being Home), and he doesn't actually want to hurt them. Also! In the image where Barnaby is asking Wally if he's reading books now, Wally is reading that *exact scene* play out.
We all know that Matpat has made silly theories in the past and has gotten stuff wrong, but we need to embrace the kindness of the WH world and be respectful as Clown encourages us to be. Mat is going into this 100% blind, just as we all were when it first came out. He's looking at every detail, brainstorming constantly, clicking on everything, just like we did when we all first saw it. Just like us, he will get some things wrong, or misunderstand a clue. The arg is still in its beginning stages, and we are all doing our best to explore and learn what Clown has given us! Honestly, I'm so scared of the people in that fandom Your not you speak the truth but most of them won't care for kindness, they have one goal in mind and that's to protect clown. Does anyone find it kinda weird how a lot of Welcome Home fans are kinda infantilizing Clown? Sure, he didn’t expect his passion project to go viral, but Clown is an adult. He doesn’t need an army of fans to protect him or speak for him. @@omegaflowey7436 Yeah there was major backlash (on every social platform) from Welcome Home fans about Matt making a theory video and “going against Clown’s boundaries” (which is stupid because 1. It’s not even a theory video and 2. Clown never said not to make theories, only to not send theories to him). Thankfully, the hate seems to have died down a little bit. It helps that Clown came out of their hiatus briefly to let the fandom know they are doing better and a new update is coming soon.
Honestly, I was skeptical that this would be any good when it first dropped, but I'm glad I got to look into it and gave it a chance. It's kinda upsetting that people are so quick to hammer down people who enjoy things. Yes, it may not be what others like, but it's no way to treat anyone. Like what you like, as long as it doesn't hurt you or others around you in any shape or form. I'm not a fan of this game, but it's pretty interesting to me. So let people enjoy things!

For the record, the theory is that Wally is singing to the house, and the banging is the house confirming it liked the song. The static in the background is potentially whatever Wally sees/hears since the show went off the air. MatPat NEEDS to see the other art of Wally in the house
I was wearing headphones while watching, and 100% heard a door close and open about 3 times, and Wally said something like, "... that means you like it.... I think." And when the video of the static TV played, not only is there a buzzing sound, but a sort of a muffled thud-like sound in the background. Matpat NEEDS to figure out what that audio is cuz this confusin'! 😵💫
I think the banging and creaking Home made in response is morse code, because I wrote down the sounds it made and translated it (as best as I could) and the most legible word I came up with was "Awwe". If Home is able to speak in morse code that would be pretty neat.

Dear matpat, 1:18:36 as an artist the energy reminds me of someone who is trapped / due to the defeated / slouched pose and the ' scratches on the walls /, my theory is that the house is keeping them hostage. The song at 1:07:24 also kinda leads to that. The way he is singing sounds like he is trying to keep himself happy, he's trying to cope with the situation he is in. It's not exactly the same but it's kinda like Feel Good Inc by Gorillaz, 2D's "sha ba da ba sha ba da ba feel good" he trying to make himself feel good because of the situation he's been forced into. The slight echo makes it sound like he's in the basement, maybe trapped by Home, you can hear maybe Home breathing while he is singing.
Especially his comments after singing and House starts banging, he's uncertain. "That's good...I think". He can communicate with House but it's not direct. He's been made to figure it out on his own, and given his attitude, it sounds like he's been punished for misunderstanding in the past.

Finally someone who speaks to the truth. Honestly watching this video has got me rather interested in the ARG. Then I wake-up today and everyone is hating on MatPat because he reacted to the ARG. Like you said he's get presented with this stuff blindly and it's all for fun and didn't mean to give any more pressure to the person who created the ARG. People overreact a bit too much. I get that maybe Ash could've looked into it a bit more before showing Mat, but they honestly mean't no harm. I'm sure they will get it cleared up like they always do with this type of situation happens. Like that time with FnaF as people kept calling a certain place and MatPat shut that down immediately. I've only really been on the fandom page for WH, but it said that they were a _in a romantic relationship_ without stating if they're dating or anything else. If that’s not what’s happening, then my next read is that the creator took a break for personal reasons and the community has indulged in this creator’s work, yet knowing that the creator is on break, they want the creator to not feel overwhelmed so that they will continue their creation. @jessilynbori8990 Sadly, I can confirm that that's not the reason (or their only reason at least). I was one of the earlier fans and for a while every video or subject relating to Welcome Home had at least one, if not more, comments on how they don't want Mat to cover it because it'll ruin it. I've always found it awful and it made me not enjoy the community as much.
Friendly reminder: Be kind to everyone, that includes both Clown and MatPat. We aren't going to gatekeep a community just because new fans are finding it because of MatPat Also there's no need to "protect" Clown, he has clearly stated his boundaries and people are taking things he never even said just to bash down new fans. Just take a chill and let people discover this amazing project just like you did.
On vibes alone personally I picture Wally alone for decades in a darkened, abandoned set - forgotten, lonely, perhaps even afraid of the house, and sad as he continues to exist in Home, once bright and lively, now closed down, dark and silent. The audio file particularly creates that image in my head. It didn’t feel to me like Wally is in control of the situation, there. It felt more like he was performing to some other entity he doesn’t understand (probably Home, but possibly a human, could’ve been footsteps)

It's made by the same creators, but nothing happening there has any bearing on the plot and canon, so there might be things that should not be seen as "clues" or official vision, just an isolated story, limited to this one episode only, like it takes place in an alternative universe. The opposite case would be something that's unofficial but cannon, like with L+R=J theory in ASOIAF - it's been confirmed cannon, but it's not official yet, because it hasn't been presented in the books, just confirmed by GRRM as true. So tl;dr cannon = confirmed to be a part of the story; official = crated by the original creators, not fan made.
The juxtposition of the comments on this video and the over reaction on twitter is crazy. People are so nice and thoughtful in the comments, while twitter is freaking out and wishing death on mat and saying he'll bring toxic fans and acting like this 1 video will destroy the series
They are all acting like they are "protecting the creator" because they stated they were overwhelmed by the popularity. By making a big deal out of a reaction video and claiming their project is now dead and that they should just delete it and forget about it

Imo just enjoy the project for what it is and appreciate the artist’s making fan content, but don’t consume anything else about the fandom at this point until they can chill tf out. I agree not to overwhelm the creator. But at the same time, I do think it's good to find and dive into the released work and enjoy with what was given to the public. When a good project is released, it will tend to get a lot of attention. I think this is so well made and all love given to clown. ❤️
I love you guys together!! You give such intense “middle school sleepover, watching creepy videos under the covers in the dark and playing Xbox until midnight” energy. I think the story so far, is showing the whole idea that all the characters in Welcome home aren't really aware of what world they are in, but Wally seems to be the only one that does. Let alone Wallys house seems to be the only house in The Neighborhood that is sentient in some way, and Wally seems to have some kind of bond with it. Almost similar to the story of Monster House, where one character has a close relationship to a sentient house. One example, is at 1:07:18. It seems Wally is singing to his house, and at 1:08:17, I can hear the voice say: Ha Ha Ha, I don't remember the other words. That's all Barnaby taught me. Do you like it? *Thumping sounds can be heard* That's good, I think? That tells me that The House that Wally was singing to, can understand English, but can only communicate through sound. Similar to Monster House, and how Nevercracker was all to communicate with his house, but the house can only communicate through sound, but can understand English.

I have seen an interesting theory about how most the cast descriptions it uses ‘was’. For Wally it uses ‘is’, and the person theorised that the other cast members were dead. When I think about it now maybe since the shows end the other cast members were picked off either within the show run time or when it ended except for Wally because of his connection to house or because he’s the big bad.
It would make it extra sad, because in his picture messages he mentions talking to them, like “I told howdy about this message” and stuff like that, and it would be sad if they were dead or missing in some way and he’s just imagining what they would say

For posterity's sake, i wrote the little poem on the guestbook asking if the tapes were red(55:04), all the comments(except the hidden ones)are actual messages sent by people writing in trough the guestbook, i wrote it before nightmind(and later this channel) covered the site, fun fact there used to be a different way into the "creepy" version of the what is welcome home page thing(curently only accesible trough Clown's main page iirc), it was at the bottom of the old version of the non creepy version, it had Wally looking at you and asking you to take his hand, also also in Clown's blog there is an audio thing they made which features voice acting for the diferent characters coming from an alleged toy phone(it's pretty far back on the blog and i don't know if it could still be considered canon).
The part at the beginning where Mat talks about Creator Clash and meeting people, content creators and fans in the crowd, just reminds me about how youtubers and streamers are the celebrities of the gaming world. Some of these creators have been around for so long that they've helped raise kids into adults, like myself, and have become such idols over the years. Thank you guys for always entertaining us and being determined to make people happy.
My own theory at this point is that Home is keeping Wally hostage and wants to keep you hostage as well (since the 404 pages say you wandered far from home and that you should head back and stay). Since all the other character descriptions in the neighbourhood say "was" and for Wally's it says "is", it seems like they died or something. And since Home's hand writing is the same as Wally's, Wally may be a puppet for Home. Wally peeking thru the window could mean he's trying to escape. Him talking directly to the person on the website could mean he's trying to find a way out of Home's strings. That one fanart of Wally being like "frowning isn't as easy for me" or whatever could mean that he's forced to be happy. This may be a stretch, but since Wally says "that's all Barnaby taught me" that gives me the idea that Barnaby got taken away before he could teach Wally the other lyrics.
I like that they only talk about the day time when they mention time, the lyrics have " moonlight all pass away" (or something like that) so maybe when it did finally hit nighttime they all "passed away".
I know trying to be supportive of a creator is a good thing for a community but this is a lil much 💀. 99% of the comments are talking about the creators anxiety. Y’all. Mat ALWAYS does thorough research before posting videos…I don’t think we need everybody parroting the exact same thing. Also, regardless of intentions, blowing up a content creators comments for just reacting to the content is unwarranted lol. As much as I respect the wishes of the creator, it is a public work, meaning that content creators shouldn’t have to feel guilty for reacting to it. Everyone just needa chill lol. Well, i don't really think its in a mean way, we are just warning people of Clown's boundaries because a lot of people don't know them and therefore don't respect it, at least i dont mean it to be mean, i love matpat but some of his fans are very new here and we just want this fandom to be safe for everyone (Edit: i forgot, yes there are people who are being super over protective, but we literally can lost welcome home in any moment)
Finally someone said it. As much as respecting the creator's boundaries is important, their work is public. A lot of people including myself are hyperfixated or find comfort in Welcome Home, including myself. It's cruel to put something out there for people to enjoy and making them feel guilty for enjoying it.

The public domain is a specific type of copyright, and honestly I don't blame any of these guys for getting anxious when the creator got overwhelmed from NightMind's coverage. Everybody started thinking it was some big new ARG when it's actually a (still in production, very much unfinished) multimedia art project experiment, it's something personal to PartyCoffin. I'd rather see a bunch of caution notices in the comments than for him to have to go through NightMind ARG 2: Electric Boogaloo. Nobody's saying not to enjoy the media, just not to go too crazy and overwhelm PartyCoffin again. People were bugging them for updates, and of course with anything that gets popular, it was getting certain kinds of fanart... And then a lot of fan interpretations of what's going on in the story that everybody's accepting as canon before PartyCoffin even has time to confirm or deny anything. It's all just kind of a lot for one person to deal with.

Never read any of Clown’s comments as “don’t do this, this is my boundary”, although I definitely read “do not harass” people. I read that they feel overwhelmed and uncomfortable with somethings but did not ask for anyone to stop, so it definitely feels like people are suffering from savior complex. And Clown is right, it’s not on him or us to control other people, we can’t. We can only control how we react to others. We are not causing him to feel stress, he is feeling stress - it belongs to him and therefore it’s for him to process. Therapy 101.

I understand Clown wanting to take a break, but at the same time, they’re getting an opportunity to be known for decades while other smaller creators like me have little to no recognition for the years worth of effort we’ve put into our projects.

These comments are so redundant. Do we seriously think Matpat wouldn’t have seen, in his characteristically thorough method of researching media like this, a statement from Clown about his anxiety? Clown never said creators can’t engage with and react to his project, it’s the rampant fandom culture of people disregarding his blatant wishes (like how he said he doesn’t want nsfw content made of the characters) and potentially doxxing him for no reason. Creators like Matpat and NM have nothing to do with that just because they’re reacting to the project itself. Say what all these comments are saying to the disrespectful fandom space, not other creators uplifting and positively engaging with the content itself.

I agree with you wholeheartedly except for the fact that this is a specific type of theory video matpat does where he purposefully goes in blind. A lot of times he has no clue what they will be discussing until his assistant puts it up on the screen and tells him. I'm sure he has been thoroughly informed now
Fun fact, all the characters' bios except for Wally's are past tense You also missed some secrets in the FAQ section but you did pretty well finding stuff. Be interesting to see a sequel video of checking out leftover secrets & just reading things like you're doing a normal look around.(Like learning the guy with lots of arms is a caterpillar) Clown also has a creepy page on their site that has a summary of what's going on(not exactly just it's a horror & the locals are confused) Another fun fact is this is only 5% finished & more to come. Wally using a cake for a pillow is based off of a stock image meme.

Extra reminder that Clown doesn't consider this a ARG, just a horror project! There is a better fitting term for it and projects like it that don't include a "game" factor, which is "Unfiction." It's more widely applicable and ARGs fall under it, but it doesn't mean all of unfiction is an ARG!

My theory is that Wally needs the player to save them. The house is an entity that’s trapped the characters to live out this children’s show for it’s entertainment. Wally is under the House’s watch constantly as the Main Character.
I was thinking along similar lines but I would also assume from things I’ve seen about Wally singing to Home that he’s gotten used to constant performances in a sort of Stockholm Syndrome situation

God I love this project but the fanbase has been an example of the worst gatekeeping I’ve ever seen. Like I think it’s great that everyone is so dedicated to Clown but there is 0 welcome from anyone and I have seen so much guilt tripping aimed at new people coming in to the fan base. I may watch videos on it bc it’s such a cool project button experience with the fanbase has only been toxic so far towards me and I haven’t even said anything past I liked it and was excited for more whenever it would come. Even after I read the boundaries and have contributed to respect them and everything. Clown doesn’t want y’all to be toxic, so if you’re part of the gatekeeping and toxicity problem please stop. I’ve seen so many people get turned away from such a cool project bc of it.
Also don’t make creators feel bad for covering it. It’s cool, and they want to talk about it. Inform them of the boundaries sure, but don’t make them feel bad for covering it. It’s an awesome project and just because they have a platform and want to post about it doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be allowed to. Especially since it is on public domain on the internet. It’s the same as you all posting about it, just with more guaranteed eyes on it. Besides a lot of the people who don’t have an audiences posts about it are blowing up as well. Popular people can talk about a cool project too.
I do not see anyone gatekeeping. It is absolutely fine to get into welcome home! It is very good. Clown the creator has even mentioned to stay respectful and kind. People are just mentioning his boundaries is all.

For a good cause, but still, it feels like no one can't enjoy Welcome Home without mentioning Clown's anxiety and that's kinda uncomfortable for someone who just got into it. I love that people are bringing in awareness, but I only like it when it's not most of what people are talking about.
@@cole9547 this isn’t my first time looking into welcome home and a lot of comments under things, some here more elsewhere are very gatekeeping, toxic, and unwelcoming sadly. Not the mention the comments saying “with new people coming in I feel so bad for clown” and things of that nature, can make people feel bad for just being here idk it’s just not a great community. I’ve noticed the one on parts of tumblr is alright, but in other spots it unfortunately is not great gatekeeping wise :( Edit: I also realize that clown didn’t want people to be this way, it’s just a large chunk of people unfortunately :(

I can see why u might find it annoying but there is literally nothing toxic abt trying to b supportive, especially since clown got viral really suddenly. They didn’t even get a chance to get used to ppl flooding their inbox. They’ve just been overwhelmed to the point where they don’t feel safe in their own house and had to take a break off the internet.
My theory is that the puppeteer who played Wally enjoyed the show so much that they never wanted to leave. With the help of something, aka what possess house (demonic or otherwise), "Wally" keeps the other puppeteers trapped and, in check, forever stuck in this world.
This is like the only time one of these "children's style media is made into horror" isn't also couples with a rundown aesthetic. Like, it's perfectly possible to enjoy these characters like you would Sesame Street, and I think that's part of what's set the fandom off so strong - the mystery is still in the teasing us with little details but the characters alone are delightful and any fun had eith them in a genuinely innocent way then adds to the future potential of the horror because the more attached to the characters as they were originally presented that we are the more the truth of the situation will get to us

The tv static bit reminds me of the Candle Cove creepypasta. It's about people who have vague memories of a kids television show that they can't find any physical evidence of later in life (sound familiar?), and when they ask their parents if they remember the show that they had always watched as kids, the adults say they were watching static or a powered off tv, and that they thought it was a form of pretend.

DONT HARRASS THE CREATOR PLEASE. They’ve posted their boundaries NEARLY EVERYWHERE and are taking a break from the very sudden popularity of their series. They have already been Harassed and their boundaries crossed. If we want to keep welcome home and keep getting updates with it, we have to respect that!

They would put in the effort to look into the creator, what the fans are saying online, etc. I know i and a server full of people did. And even then, there can be people to inform you/a person. It’s rude to expect a creator to do certain things, like put up a sign on their creation that says “DONT HARASS ME” and then list several rules. Their common rules that should be followed. and as i said, hes taking a break. Don’t push what you can do easily with a search in google onto him because you simply don’t want to put in the effort.

I'm almost scared seeing this..?? Clown has stated before that its not an ARG- or at the very least that was not their intention with it. The attention it's getting has made them overwhelmed and people have been crossing boundaries with their characters. I don't know how they're going to handle this sudden EXTREME INFLUX of attention it's going to get.

I never considered the idea that Wally and Home could somehow be one and the same. Interesting thoughts. I also like the theory that Wally needs our help to resurrect his friends. I personally feel like Wally being the antagonist is too obvious. A part of me feels like him wanting to bring everything back is with good intentions, but perhaps he doesn't realize the repercussions it could hold? I think Home is sus though.

As much as I hate to give into the drama, I think it’s something notable to the fans that they understand that the more drama and hate they bring into the fandom the more likely that the creation of more content will be delayed or even be ended because it becomes too much for clown.

I heard someone else mentioning how the whole “Frowning is easy see” “Maybe for you but not for me” may be in reference to how they’re puppets, and while Frank always has an eternal built in frown, Wally always has an eternal slight smile. But in that picture you can also see Wally’s eyebrows curved a bit, like he’s contemplating something or confused or perhaps even disturbed. Perhaps he’s questioning why he can’t frown?

This interaction suggests that Wally was trying to ask Frank how to frown since he seems to be the best at it. This could mean that Wally, even if he's smiling in some really incriminating images, isn't *really* smiling. There's also a theory going around that Wally is being controlled by an evil force (that being Home), and he doesn't actually want to hurt them.

It’s not even a theory video and 2. Clown never said not to make theories, only to not send theories to him). Thankfully, the hate seems to have died down a little bit. It helps that Clown came out of their hiatus briefly to let the fandom know they are doing better and a new update is coming soon.
Honestly, I was skeptical that this would be any good when it first dropped, but I'm glad I got to look into it and gave it a chance. It's kinda upsetting that people are so quick to hammer down people who enjoy things. Yes, it may not be what others like, but it's no way to treat anyone. Like what you like, as long as it doesn't hurt you or others around you in any shape or form. I'm not a fan of this game, but it's pretty interesting to me. So let people enjoy things!

I was wearing headphones while watching, and 100% heard a door close and open about 3 times, and Wally said something like, "... that means you like it.... I think." And when the video of the static TV played, not only is there a buzzing sound, but a sort of a muffled thud-like sound in the background. Matpat NEEDS to figure out what that audio is cuz this confusin'! 😵💫

I think the banging and creaking Home made in response is morse code, because I wrote down the sounds it made and translated it (as best as I could) and the most legible word I came up with was "Awwe". If Home is able to speak in morse code that would be pretty neat.

The song at 1:07:24 also kinda leads to that. The way he is singing sounds like he is trying to keep himself happy, he's trying to cope with the situation he is in. It's not exactly the same but it's kinda like Feel Good Inc by Gorillaz, 2D's "sha ba da ba sha ba da ba feel good" he trying to make himself feel good because of the situation he's been forced into. I was one of the earlier fans and for a while every video or subject relating to Welcome Home had at least one, if not more, comments on how they don't want Mat to cover it because it'll ruin it. I've always found it awful and it made me not enjoy the community as much.

On vibes alone personally I picture Wally alone for decades in a darkened, abandoned set - forgotten, lonely, perhaps even afraid of the house, and sad as he continues to exist in Home, once bright and lively, now closed down, dark and silent. The audio file particularly creates that image in my head. It didn’t feel to me like Wally is in control of the situation, there. It felt more like he was performing to some other entity he doesn’t understand (probably Home, but possibly a human, could’ve been footsteps)

It's made by the same creators, but nothing happening there has any bearing on the plot and canon, so there might be things that should not be seen as "clues" or official vision, just an isolated story, limited to this one episode only, like it takes place in an alternative universe.
The opposite case would be something that's unofficial but cannon, like with L+R=J theory in ASOIAF - it's been confirmed cannon, but it's not official yet, because it hasn't been presented in the books, just confirmed by GRRM as true.
So tl;dr cannon = confirmed to be a part of the story; official = crated by the original creators, not fan made.

Imo just enjoy the project for what it is and appreciate the artist’s making fan content, but don’t consume anything else about the fandom at this point until they can chill tf out. I think the story so far, is showing the whole idea that all the characters in Welcome home aren't really aware of what world they are in, but Wally seems to be the only one that does. Let alone Wallys house seems to be the only house in The Neighborhood that is sentient in some way, and Wally seems to have some kind of bond with it.
Almost similar to the story of Monster House, where one character has a close relationship to a sentient house.
One example, is at 1:07:18. It seems Wally is singing to his house, and at 1:08:17, I can hear the voice say: Ha Ha Ha, I don't remember the other words. That's all Barnaby taught me. Do you like it? *Thumping sounds can be heard* That's good, I think?
That tells me that The House that Wally was singing to, can understand English, but can only communicate through sound. Similar to Monster House, and how Nevercracker was all to communicate with his house, but the house can only communicate through sound, but can understand English.

I have seen an interesting theory about how most the cast descriptions it uses ‘was’. For Wally it uses ‘is’, and the person theorised that the other cast members were dead. When I think about it now maybe since the shows end the other cast members were picked off either within the show run time or when it ended except for Wally because of his connection to house or because he’s the big bad.
It would make it extra sad, because in his picture messages he mentions talking to them, like “I told howdy about this message” and stuff like that, and it would be sad if they were dead or missing in some way and he’s just imagining what they would say

For posterity's sake, i wrote the little poem on the guestbook asking if the tapes were red(55:04), all the comments(except the hidden ones)are actual messages sent by people writing in trough the guestbook, i wrote it before nightmind(and later this channel) covered the site, fun fact there used to be a different way into the "creepy" version of the what is welcome home page thing(curently only accesible trough Clown's main page iirc), it was at the bottom of the old version of the non creepy version, it had Wally looking at you and asking you to take his hand, also also in Clown's blog there is an audio thing they made which features voice acting for the diferent characters coming from an alleged toy phone(it's pretty far back on the blog and i don't know if it could still be considered canon).
The part at the beginning where Mat talks about Creator Clash and meeting people, content creators and fans in the crowd, just reminds me about how youtubers and streamers are the celebrities of the gaming world. Some of these creators have been around for so long that they've helped raise kids into adults, like myself, and have become such idols over the years. Thank you guys for always entertaining us and being determined to make people happy.
My own theory at this point is that Home is keeping Wally hostage and wants to keep you hostage as well (since the 404 pages say you wandered far from home and that you should head back and stay). Since all the other character descriptions in the neighbourhood say "was" and for Wally's it says "is", it seems like they died or something. And since Home's hand writing is the same as Wally's, Wally may be a puppet for Home. Wally peeking thru the window could mean he's trying to escape. Him talking directly to the person on the website could mean he's trying to find a way out of Home's strings. That one fanart of Wally being like "frowning isn't as easy for me" or whatever could mean that he's forced to be happy.
This may be a stretch, but since Wally says "that's all Barnaby taught me" that gives me the idea that Barnaby got taken away before he could teach Wally the other lyrics.
I like that they only talk about the day time when they mention time, the lyrics have " moonlight all pass away" (or something like that) so maybe when it did finally hit nighttime they all "passed away".
I know trying to be supportive of a creator is a good thing for a community but this is a lil much 💀. 99% of the comments are talking about the creators anxiety. Y’all. Mat ALWAYS does thorough research before posting videos…I don’t think we need everybody parroting the exact same thing.

Finally someone said it. As much as respecting the creator's boundaries is important, their work is public. A lot of people including myself are hyperfixated or find comfort in Welcome Home, including myself. The public domain is a specific type of copyright, and honestly I don't blame any of these guys for getting anxious when the creator got overwhelmed from NightMind's coverage. Everybody started thinking it was some big new ARG when it's actually a (still in production, very much unfinished) multimedia art project experiment, it's something personal to PartyCoffin.
I'd rather see a bunch of caution notices in the comments than for him to have to go through NightMind ARG 2: Electric Boogaloo. Nobody's saying not to enjoy the media, just not to go too crazy and overwhelm PartyCoffin again. People were bugging them for updates, and of course with anything that gets popular, it was getting certain kinds of fanart... And then a lot of fan interpretations of what's going on in the story that everybody's accepting as canon before PartyCoffin even has time to confirm or deny anything. It's all just kind of a lot for one person to deal with.

I read that they feel overwhelmed and uncomfortable with somethings but did not ask for anyone to stop, so it definitely feels like people are suffering from savior complex.

These comments are so redundant. Do we seriously think Matpat wouldn’t have seen, in his characteristically thorough method of researching media like this, a statement from Clown about his anxiety? Clown never said creators can’t engage with and react to his project, it’s the rampant fandom culture of people disregarding his blatant wishes (like how he said he doesn’t want nsfw content made of the characters) and potentially doxxing him for no reason. Creators like Matpat and NM have nothing to do with that just because they’re reacting to the project itself. I agree with you wholeheartedly except for the fact that this is a specific type of theory video matpat does where he purposefully goes in blind. My theory is that Wally needs the player to save them. The house is an entity that’s trapped the characters to live out this children’s show for it’s entertainment. Wally is under the House’s watch constantly as the Main Character.

Even after I read the boundaries and have contributed to respect them and everything. Clown doesn’t want y’all to be toxic, so if you’re part of the gatekeeping and toxicity problem please stop. I’ve seen so many people get turned away from such a cool project bc of it.
Also don’t make creators feel bad for covering it. It’s cool, and they want to talk about it. Inform them of the boundaries sure, but don’t make them feel bad for covering it. It’s an awesome project and just because they have a platform and want to post about it doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be allowed to. Especially since it is on public domain on the internet. It’s the same as you all posting about it, just with more guaranteed eyes on it. Besides a lot of the people who don’t have an audiences posts about it are blowing up as well. Popular people can talk about a cool project too.

I do not see anyone gatekeeping. It is absolutely fine to get into welcome home! It is very good. Clown the creator has even mentioned to stay respectful and kind. People are just mentioning his boundaries is all.
@@cole9547 Dude, the amount of people talking about Clown and his boundaries is so overwhelming that it hides the content of Welcome Home. In an outsider perspective, it looks like gatekeeping. For a good cause, but still, it feels like no one can't enjoy Welcome Home without mentioning Clown's anxiety and that's kinda uncomfortable for someone who just got into it. I love that people are bringing in awareness, but I only like it when it's not most of what people are talking about.
@@cole9547 this isn’t my first time looking into welcome home and a lot of comments under things, some here more elsewhere are very gatekeeping, toxic, and unwelcoming sadly. Not the mention the comments saying “with new people coming in I feel so bad for clown” and things of that nature, can make people feel bad for just being here idk it’s just not a great community. I’ve noticed the one on parts of tumblr is alright, but in other spots it unfortunately is not great gatekeeping wise :(
Edit: I also realize that clown didn’t want people to be this way, it’s just a large chunk of people unfortunately :(
I’m glad everyone is so supportive of clown but every.single. Comment being the exact same thing is annoying, these videos aren’t live aka filmed a while ago in other words mat is currently aware of everything and if he isn’t at the moment he will find out due to how much research he does, spamming the exact same comments over and over is doing nothing, comment on the actual video and the fun they had looking through everything

I can see why u might find it annoying but there is literally nothing toxic abt trying to b supportive, especially since clown got viral really suddenly. They didn’t even get a chance to get used to ppl flooding their inbox. They’ve just been overwhelmed to the point where they don’t feel safe in their own house and had to take a break off the internet.
My theory is that the puppeteer who played Wally enjoyed the show so much that they never wanted to leave. With the help of something, aka what possess house (demonic or otherwise), "Wally" keeps the other puppeteers trapped and, in check, forever stuck in this world.

This is like the only time one of these "children's style media is made into horror" isn't also couples with a rundown aesthetic. Like, it's perfectly possible to enjoy these characters like you would Sesame Street, and I think that's part of what's set the fandom off so strong - the mystery is still in the teasing us with little details but the characters alone are delightful and any fun had eith them in a genuinely innocent way then adds to the future potential of the horror because the more attached to the characters as they were originally presented that we are the more the truth of the situation will get to us
I'm 18 minutes into this video and after reading the comments I don't even want to finish the video and intend to stay as far away from this project as possible... 😳 If the goal of the fandom is to come off as incredibly condescending and gatekeeping, they've nailed it.
its honestly so sad because this series/project has so much potential but the fans are so rabbid and they think they are "protecting" the creator when really they are the ones killing the project by gatekeeping and making it seem untouchable and toxic.

The tv static bit reminds me of the Candle Cove creepypasta. It's about people who have vague memories of a kids television show that they can't find any physical evidence of later in life (sound familiar?), and when they ask their parents if they remember the show that they had always watched as kids, the adults say they were watching static or a powered off tv, and that they thought it was a form of pretend.

DONT HARRASS THE CREATOR PLEASE. They’ve posted their boundaries NEARLY EVERYWHERE and are taking a break from the very sudden popularity of their series. They have already been Harassed and their boundaries crossed. If we want to keep welcome home and keep getting updates with it, we have to respect that!

@@MiloMurphysLaw that would ruin the vibe of the website. And if someone was actually invested in the website and where the story is going? They would put in the effort to look into the creator, what the fans are saying online, etc. I know i and a server full of people did. And even then, there can be people to inform you/a person.
It’s rude to expect a creator to do certain things, like put up a sign on their creation that says “DONT HARASS ME” and then list several rules. Their common rules that should be followed.

I'm almost scared seeing this..?? Clown has stated before that its not an ARG- or at the very least that was not their intention with it. The attention it's getting has made them overwhelmed and people have been crossing boundaries with their characters. I don't know how they're going to handle this sudden EXTREME INFLUX of attention it's going to get.
Unfortunately, the internet isn't a bright place you will see things or hear things you don't want to see or hear. Cause we humans ain't perfect also popularity was fated to happen especially as more TH-camrs break it down, and yes that puts alot of stress on anyone sudden popularity but I'm sure matt and his team would find that out and probably address it.

i hate how awful this fanbase is already. not stressing the creator does not mean not to look at or experience his work at all..
clown is an adult and does not need an overprotective fandom to defend him.
new people can discover his wonderful work without directly harassing him, that's basic human kindness.
Clown's post is literally, "Please remember not to reprimand others on my behalf, I know the intentions but its not worth your anger and time. I think focus on being kind to others instead, having fun with you and yours! (I will figure it out, do not worry!). Additionally, my post was not to set new boundaries on work- (What has happened has happened, you know?) It was just writing. Everything is the same, as it is displayed on my pinned post!".

I never considered the idea that Wally and Home could somehow be one and the same. Interesting thoughts. I also like the theory that Wally needs our help to resurrect his friends.
I personally feel like Wally being the antagonist is too obvious. A part of me feels like him wanting to bring everything back is with good intentions, but perhaps he doesn't realize the repercussions it could hold? I think Home is sus though.

Right! I think this is such a cool concept, and I think it does deserve some love in the most respectful way possible. I just hope that Clown will take the time they need to rest and see how fun it is to have a fun fandom appreciate their work! (Even with the bad parts because inevitably its always happened with every fandom) like ofc we wanna respect their boundaries but people act like we’re not even allowed to talk about it!

As much as I hate to give into the drama, I think it’s something notable to the fans that they understand that the more drama and hate they bring into the fandom the more likely that the creation of more content will be delayed or even be ended because it becomes too much for clown.
